Finger Touch for Up to Six Users, Plus Two Interactive Pens
The EB-695Wi ships with a light curtain finger touch unit and two Easy Interactive Pens, so a wall or a plain dry-wipe board becomes a working surface. Epson's PC interactive tools track up to six fingers or two pens at once, and the PC-free annotation mode lets a teacher mark up a projected page with no computer connected at all. For Singapore classrooms and corporate training rooms, that turns a one-way presentation into a shared workspace without the capital cost of an interactive flat panel.
Ultra-Short Throw at 0.28 to 0.37 With No Shadows
Mounted directly above the board, the projector fills 60 to 100 inches from 35.4 to 60.1 cm, a throw ratio of 0.28 to 0.37. Someone writing at the board casts no shadow across their own work and is never looking into the lens. That is the practical requirement for an interactive projector: if the user has to stand aside to see what they have written, the interactivity is of little use. It also keeps the equipment out of walkways in a shallow room.
3,500 Lumens and 14,000:1 Contrast in a Lit Room
Epson rates the EB-695Wi at 3,500 lumens white light output and 3,500 lumens colour light output, with a 14,000:1 contrast ratio and up to 1.07 billion colours at 10-bit processing. Colour brightness equalling white brightness is a property of the 3LCD engine, so colour-coded annotation stays distinguishable rather than collapsing into similar tones once room lighting is on. Classrooms have to stay lit for note-taking and supervision, and this is the specification that decides whether the board remains readable while they are.
Whiteboard Mode, Network Control and a 16 W Speaker
A built-in whiteboard function works without a source device, and annotations can be saved and shared rather than wiped at the end of a session. A wired RJ45 port carries Epson's network projection and management tools, multi-PC projection and message broadcasting, and the projector supports Crestron RoomView, AMX Device Discovery, Extron IP Link and Control4. The 16 W monaural speaker and a dedicated microphone input cover a classroom without a separate sound system.

Compatibility & Installation
Mounting and positioning
The EB-695Wi mounts on the optional ELPMB46 integrated mount directly above the projection surface, with the finger touch unit fitted above the image so its infrared curtain covers the whole working area. Allow for a 400 x 149 x 367 mm body and 5.8 kg on the wall fixing. Keystone correction is only ±3 degrees in each axis, so the mount must be square to the surface, and the surface itself needs to be genuinely flat because an ultra-short-throw lens exaggerates any bow.
What it connects to
Three HDMI inputs, one MHL-capable, plus two D-Sub 15-pin computer inputs and a composite RCA input cover a room PC, a visiting laptop, a document camera and legacy equipment together. A D-Sub output feeds a confidence monitor. Three stereo mini audio inputs, a microphone input and an audio output allow a radio mic to be mixed into the 16 W internal speaker or passed to a room amplifier. USB Type B carries USB Display over a single cable.
Interactivity and annotation
The supplied light curtain finger touch unit connects over a Mini DIN 8-pin control lead and a 5 m USB cable. Epson's Easy Interactive Tools support up to two pens and up to six fingers on a connected PC, and PC-free annotation supports up to two pens and two fingers with no computer at all. A whiteboard function is built in, and interactive sync in and out allow two units to be aligned side by side.
Network, control and accessories
The RJ45 port at 100 Mbps carries Epson network projection, control and management, multi-PC projection and message broadcasting, with Crestron RoomView, AMX Device Discovery, Extron IP Link and Control4 support and RS-232C serial control. Wireless LAN is the optional ELPAP10 unit. Epson lists the ELPLP91 lamp, ELPAF49 air filter and ELPKC31 USB extension cable as consumables and options. The non-interactive model in this chassis is the EB-685W.

How many people can write on the board at the same time?
With a connected PC running Epson's Easy Interactive Tools, up to two pens and up to six fingers are tracked. In PC-free annotation mode the limit is two pens and two fingers.
Are the interactive pens and touch unit included?
Yes. Two Easy Interactive Pens with batteries, a pen tray, spare pen tips and the light curtain finger touch unit are all supplied in the box.
Does it need a special interactive whiteboard?
No. The finger touch unit projects an infrared curtain across the image area, so a flat wall or an ordinary dry-wipe board works. The surface does need to be genuinely flat.
Can it be used without a computer?

What is the difference between the EB-695Wi and the EB-685W?
They share the chassis, lamp, brightness and optics. The EB-695Wi adds the interactive system: two pens, the finger touch unit, interactive sync ports and the whiteboard and annotation functions. The EB-685W is projection only.
