PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada Gigabit Single-Mode Media Converter (MC210CS) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The MC210CS takes a Gigabit copper link out onto single-mode fibre over a built-in 1000M SC/UPC port, extending the run to as far as 15 km. The optic is fixed at 1310 nm, so there is no module to specify or source — the unit arrives ready to terminate a single-mode pair. One 10/100/1000M RJ45 port with Auto MDI/MDIX serves the copper side.
Fifteen Kilometres on Single-Mode Fibre
TP-Link states the MC210CS extends fibre distance up to 15 km, which puts a remote building, a campus block or an outlying site well inside reach of the core switch without an intermediate hop. Over that distance fibre also removes any shared earth between the two ends, which matters where the buildings sit on different electrical supplies. The 1000BASE-LX side runs on single-mode fibre at a 1310 nm wavelength, both fixed in hardware.
A Fixed SC Port Instead of a Pluggable Module
The fibre side is a built-in 1000M SC/UPC port rather than an open SFP cage. Where the fibre type is already known and will not change, that is the simpler purchase: nothing to specify, nothing to order separately, nothing to lose. If a site has mixed fibre or you would rather choose the optic yourself, the MC220L takes a pluggable SFP instead; for multi-mode runs, the MC200CM is the matching 850 nm unit.
Gigabit Copper With Auto MDI/MDIX
The copper side is a single 10/100/1000M RJ45 port with Auto MDI/MDIX, so either patch-lead type works and there is nothing to configure. Half-duplex and full-duplex transfer modes are auto-negotiated. TP-Link specifies UTP Category 5 or 5e to a maximum of 100 m on 1000BASE-T, or EIA/TIA-568 100-ohm STP to the same 100 m. The converter complies with IEEE 802.3i, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3z, so it interoperates with any standards-compliant switch or router at either end.
Under 2 W, Fanless, Straightforward to Deploy
Maximum power consumption is 1.8 W from an external power adapter, with no fan, so the unit is silent and can go in an occupied room as readily as a comms cupboard. PWR and Link/Act LEDs give immediate status when tracing a fibre fault. At 94.5 x 73.0 x 27.0 mm it occupies almost no shelf space, and TP-Link publishes an operating range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius at 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing.
Ideal For
Singapore sites linking buildings, floors or outlying blocks over an existing single-mode pair, and integrators who want a fixed-optic converter with nothing further to specify. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link lists several hardware revisions of the MC210CS (V4, V5, V6.20 and V7.20). The figures above are those published on the Omada product page, which shows V4. Confirm the revision with SourceIT if a specific one is required. No MTBF figure is published for this model, so none is claimed here.
Compatibility & Software Support
The MC210CS is a standalone media converter. TP-Link publishes no management interface, firmware or controller support for it, and it cannot be adopted into an Omada Software Controller, Hardware Controller or Cloud-Based Controller. It passes traffic transparently between the fibre and copper sides; the switches at either end own the configuration.
| Omada SDN Controller | Not supported — the converter cannot be adopted or centrally managed |
| Management Interface | None published — no web GUI, CLI or firmware configuration |
| Fibre Type Required | Single-mode fibre, SC/UPC connector, 1310 nm |
| Far-End Equipment | Any 1000BASE-LX single-mode device at 1310 nm — a second MC210CS, a switch SFP port with a matching optic, or a router |
| Interoperability | Standards-based: works with any IEEE 802.3-compliant equipment at the supported speeds |
TP-Link does not publish a per-switch compatibility list for the MC210CS. Send us the switch model and the fibre type at the far end and we will confirm the combination before quoting.

Frequently Asked Questions — MC210CS
Do I need two units, one at each end?
Only if both ends are copper. A single MC210CS pairs perfectly well with a switch that already has a 1000BASE-LX single-mode optic at 1310 nm in an SFP slot. Where neither end has fibre ports, order a pair.
Can it be used on multi-mode fibre?
No. The MC210CS is a single-mode unit at 1310 nm. For multi-mode, the MC200CM is the matching 850 nm converter; for a choice of optic, the MC220L takes a pluggable SFP.
Is an SFP module needed?
No. The SC/UPC fibre port is built in. There is nothing further to specify or purchase beyond the fibre patch leads.
Can it be managed from an Omada Controller?
No. TP-Link publishes no controller support for this model. It is a transparent converter with no management interface.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under Omada's replacement warranty tier for media converters. Every MC210CS sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
