APC AR3100 — the standard 42U NetShelter SX server enclosure, 600 mm wide and 1070 mm deep
The APC AR3100 is the NetShelter SX 42U enclosure that most Singapore server rooms are built around: 1991 mm high, 600 mm wide and 1070 mm deep, delivered assembled with a perforated front door, split perforated rear doors, locking side panels, a roof, pre-installed castors and levelling feet. NetShelter SX is the premium rack line from APC by Schneider Electric — the one its Smart-UPS, rack PDU, NetBotz and InRow cooling accessories are designed and tested against — and the AR3100 is the base model in that line.
Schneider positions it for low to medium density server and networking applications. The 600 mm width is compact enough to optimise floor space and line up on a 600 mm tile, and the 42U height is chosen so the cabinet rolls through a standard doorway without being tilted.
Split rear doors, 1070 mm depth and a 1364 kg frame
The rear doors are split — two half-width perforated doors rather than one — so the cabinet only needs a narrow aisle behind it to get at the PDUs and power leads. Front and rear doors lock, the front with a three-point latch, and open wide enough for a technician to slide a server in on rails. The side panels lock with the same key. All of it lifts off without tools when you need to bay cabinets or work on cabling from the side.
The 1070 mm depth gives a mounting-rail adjustment range from 191 mm to 915 mm between front and rear rails, which handles a full-depth 2U server with its rail kit and still leaves room behind for two 0U rack PDUs in the rear channels. The frame is rated 1364 kg static and 1023 kg dynamic — the dynamic figure is the one that matters if you intend to pre-build the rack and roll it into position loaded. Posts are 16 gauge steel, the front door 16 gauge, the rear doors, roof and side panels 18 gauge, and the EIA mounting rails 14 gauge.
Built for airflow and cable management
NetShelter SX doors are perforated for front-to-back airflow, which is the cooling model that every modern server, switch and rack UPS assumes. Blank the unused U with AR8136BLK toolless panels and the cold air from the aisle goes through the equipment rather than around it. Four repositionable 0U accessory channels in the rear corners take rack PDUs and vertical cable managers without consuming rack units, and the roof has cable openings for overhead trunking, with the base open for raised-floor entry.
Singapore installation notes
Net weight is 125.1 kg and it ships on a pallet at 144.6 kg, 2118 mm high, so plan a goods lift and, if the crate has to go through a door, unpack at the loading bay and roll the cabinet in. Schneider requires the cabinet to be earthed to the building bonding network and secured to the floor before it is loaded; the matching AR7701 bolt-down kit is stocked alongside it. What fits in the frame
Any EIA-310 19-inch equipment. The AR3100 is the enclosure Schneider designs its own rack-mount products around, so every rail kit on a Smart-UPS, Smart-UPS SRT or Easy UPS SRV rack model, every NetShelter rack PDU and every NetBotz appliance fits without adapters. The 191 mm to 915 mm rail range takes anything from a patch panel to a full-depth server, and the square-hole rails accept cage nuts and toolless server rails alike.
Rack accessories that belong to this cabinet
The AR7701 bolt-down kit anchors the SX frame to the slab and is the part Schneider intends for this purpose. The AR8122BLK fixed shelf carries 114 kg of non-rack gear — a tower UPS, a desktop switch, a KVM — on 1U. The AR8136BLK blanking panels snap into the square-hole rails without tools to close off empty U. All three are on this site.
UPS, PDU and ATS pairing
A 42U SX cabinet is normally powered by a rack UPS at the bottom feeding one or two 0U PDUs in the rear channels. The Smart-UPS SMT1500RMI2UC in 2U line-interactive or the Smart-UPS SRT3000RMXLI in 2U on-line are the common 230 V pairings; the Smart-UPS RT SRTG5KXLI covers a rack that approaches 5 kVA. Feed the PDUs from the UPS, and where two supplies are available put a rack ATS such as the AP4423 Rack ATS 16 A in front of single-corded switches.

Monitoring and cooling
Fit the NetBotz Rack Monitor 250 (NBRK0250A) at the top of the rack for temperature, humidity, door-open and leak alerts across the cabinet, or if the UPS has a SmartSlot, an AP9641 Network Management Card with an AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor is the lower-cost route. Keep the doors closed and the unused U blanked so the room's air-conditioning does its job through the equipment rather than around it.
Choosing between the SX sizes
AR3100 is the 42U server rack. AR3104 is the same footprint at 24U for a branch, a lab or a room with low ceilings. AR3340 is 750 mm wide and 1200 mm deep, built for core switches and heavy patching. If the budget does not stretch to SX, the Easy Rack ER6202 shares the 600 x 1000 mm footprint with a single-piece rear door.

What is the difference between the AR3100 and the Easy Rack ER6202?
Both are 42U, 600 mm wide black cabinets with perforated doors and a 5-year warranty. The AR3100 is 1070 mm deep to the Easy Rack's 1000 mm, has split rear doors, a higher 1364 kg static rating, heavier-gauge doors and the full NetShelter SX accessory ecosystem. The Easy Rack is the value choice for a straightforward server rack; the SX is the choice for a production room that will be worked on and reconfigured for years.
Does it arrive assembled?
Yes. The AR3100 ships as a built cabinet on a pallet, 2118 mm high and 144.6 kg. Plan the goods lift and the route; if the crate cannot get through a doorway, unpack at the loading bay and roll the 1991 mm cabinet in on its castors.
How much can it carry?
1364 kg static once levelled on its feet and bolted down with the AR7701 kit, and 1023 kg dynamic when rolled on the castors — which is why an SX can be pre-built off site and wheeled into position loaded.
Why split rear doors?
A split rear door needs about half the swing clearance of a single door, so the cabinet can sit closer to a wall or in a narrower hot aisle and still give full access to the PDUs and power leads at the back.
Which PDUs go in the rear channels?
0U models — the AP7552 Rack PDU Basic 0U 16 A, AP7553 Rack PDU Basic 0U 32 A, AP8853 NetShelter Metered Rack PDU and EPDU1232S Easy Rack PDU Switched 0U all mount vertically in the SX accessory channels without consuming rack units. 1U and 2U PDUs, the rack ATS models and the NetBotz appliance go on the rails.
Do I need the bolt-down kit?
Schneider requires the cabinet to be secured to the floor before equipment is installed, and the AR7701 is the kit designed for the SX frame. For a comms room on a solid slab it is a small cost against a loaded rack tipping during a move or a seismic event.
Can I bay several AR3100 cabinets together?
Yes — baying hardware is in the box, and the side panels lift off so bayed cabinets share cable routes. Each cabinet still needs its own floor anchoring.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
