5 kW of On-Line Double Conversion in 2U
The APC Smart-UPS Ultra SRTL5KRM2UI is Schneider Electric's high-density on-line UPS: 5000 VA / 5000 W of double-conversion protection with a lithium-ion battery in a 2U rack/tower chassis weighing 29.2 kg. A conventional 5 kVA on-line UPS with lead-acid batteries occupies 3U or more and weighs several times as much; the Ultra uses next-generation semiconductor technology and a lithium-ion battery module to get the same job done in a fraction of the space, which is why Schneider describes the range as half the size and weight with three times the battery life.
The load is fed continuously from the inverter on a 230 V sine wave with less than 2% harmonic distortion, and the unit is a unity power factor build, so the full 5000 W is available. Input and output are 220 / 230 / 240 V with 50/60 Hz auto-sensing, exactly right for a Singapore server room, edge site or industrial control cabinet.
Hardwired Input, Ten IEC Outlets
The input is a single hardwire 1P+N+E connection, installed by a licensed electrical worker on a dedicated circuit; there is no plug type to worry about for Singapore. Output is on 6 x IEC C13 and 4 x IEC C19 outlets with switched outlet groups, so a full rack of servers and a couple of high-draw devices plug straight in without a separate PDU. The input operating window is 180β275 V at half load.
Lithium-Ion Battery, 1.5 Hour Recharge
The internal battery is a 180 V lithium-ion module (Schneider part SRYLBM) with a 5 to 10 year battery life as printed, which Schneider Electric describes as lasting three times a VRLA UPS with no need to replace the battery during the life of the UPS. Recharge is 1.5 hours β a fraction of the lead-acid figure β so the UPS is back to full capacity between one outage and the next. Schneider Electric prints a runtime of 5 minutes at full load (5000 W) and 12 minutes at half load (2500 W) on the internal module; for longer hold-up, up to five SRTL180RM2UBP external lithium-ion packs can be added, each a further 2U.
Network Management Card Built In
Unlike the SmartSlot models, the Ultra ships with a Network Management Card 3 with environmental monitoring pre-installed and a one-year Secure NMC subscription included, so SNMP monitoring, alerting, EcoStruxure Ready remote management and PowerChute Network Shutdown of physical servers, virtual machines and HCI clusters are available out of the box. A temperature sensor (AP9335T) is supplied for the card's universal I/O port. The chassis carries an autorotating LCD that reads correctly in either rack or tower orientation, an Emergency Power Off terminal and a USB port; an optional AP9834 Wi-Fi device adds wireless connectivity.
2U Rack/Tower Convertible, Rails Included
At 86 x 432 x 701 mm the SRTL5KRM2UI occupies 2U and needs a 1000 mm or deeper server cabinet; the rail kit is included, and the unit converts to tower for a floor-standing installation. Audible noise is 55 dBA at 1 m and heat dissipation 931 BTU/hour.
Supplied Locally, with GST Invoice and Singapore Warranty
SourceIT supplies the SRTL5KRM2UI as an APC by Schneider Electric product with a full GST invoice and local Singapore warranty support. Schneider Electric's printed term for the Smart-UPS Ultra is five years repair or replace on both the UPS and the internal lithium-ion battery. Outlets and What Can Be Plugged In
The SRTL5KRM2UI provides 6 x IEC C13 and 4 x IEC C19 on the output with switched outlet groups, so a rack of servers plus a storage array or two high-draw devices plug straight in. Locking C13 to C14 lead kits such as the AP8704S-WW keep a rack tidy; for more outlets, feed a rack PDU such as the AP7921B from one of the C19 outlets. Size directly on watts: this is a unity power factor build, so compare the continuous watts of the load, with headroom for surge and growth, against 5000 W.
Hardwired Input
The input is a single 1P+N+E hardwire connection, so a licensed electrical worker installs the UPS on a dedicated circuit sized for 5 kW plus battery charging. Schneider Electric lists a service bypass panel as a compatible accessory for this model; the SBP5000RMI2U is our 230 V 5 kVA service bypass panel β ask us to confirm the pairing for your installation so the UPS can be isolated for service without dropping the load.
Rack Fit
The chassis occupies 2U at 86 x 432 x 701 mm and 29.2 kg, and needs a 1000 mm or deeper server cabinet. The rail kit is included and the unit converts to tower. Each SRTL180RM2UBP external pack is a further 2U.
Battery and Runtime
Schneider Electric prints 5 minutes at full load (5000 W) and 12 minutes at half load (2500 W) on the internal 180 V module β enough to ride through a supply switch-over or shut servers down gracefully over PowerChute Network Shutdown. For longer hold-up, up to five SRTL180RM2UBP lithium-ion packs can be added. Recharge is 1.5 hours. Management and Software
The Network Management Card 3 with environmental monitoring is pre-installed, with a one-year Secure NMC subscription; there is no free SmartSlot, so no separate network card is needed or fitted. The supplied AP9335T temperature sensor plugs into the card's universal I/O port, and the AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor is the option if you also want humidity β ask us to confirm. PowerChute Network Shutdown handles graceful shutdown of physical servers, virtual machines and HCI clusters, and the unit is EcoStruxure Ready for cloud monitoring; the optional AP9834 adds Wi-Fi.
