Network Management Plus Two Universal I/O Sensor Ports
The APC UPS Network Management Card 3 with Environmental Monitoring (AP9641) does everything the AP9640 does - secure browser, command line and SNMP management of a Smart-UPS from your network - and adds the piece the AP9640 lacks: two universal I/O ports for environmental sensing.
Those ports accept the AP9335T temperature sensor, the AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor, and the AP9810 dry contact I/O accessory, which brings two input contacts and one output relay. Schneider ships an AP9335T temperature sensor in the box, so the card monitors rack temperature from the day it is installed.
Why Environmental Monitoring Matters in a Singapore Rack
Singapore runs warm and humid year-round, and comms cabinets are frequently in rooms whose cooling is not on the critical circuit. When the air conditioning drops out over a long weekend, rack temperature climbs long before anything fails - and that window is when you want an alert, not a Monday-morning discovery.
With a sensor on the AP9641 the same card that reports mains failure and battery status also reports temperature and relative humidity, with configurable thresholds feeding e-mail, SNMP traps and Syslog. One IP address, one alerting path, both classes of risk.
Full Protocol Coverage Including Modbus RTU Over Serial
The AP9641 supports HTTP and HTTPS with TLS, SSH, Telnet, SNMP v1, v2c and v3, FTP, SCP, BACnet/IP, RADIUS, 802.1X, DHCP, BOOTP, NTP, Syslog, SMTP and IPv4 and IPv6 addressing. It supports both Modbus TCP/IP and - unlike the AP9640 - Modbus RTU over serial through port 2, which matters when the building system you have to integrate with is an older serial head-end rather than an IP one.
Three USB ports are provided: two for firmware work and the optional AP9834 Wi-Fi dongle, plus a micro-USB console port. Connection is 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet.
PowerChute Network Shutdown, EcoStruxure IT and a Year of Secure NMC
The card supports PowerChute Network Shutdown for graceful shutdown of physical and virtual servers, and is EcoStruxure IT compatible for estate-wide monitoring. A one-year Secure NMC System subscription is included, keeping firmware current against newly disclosed vulnerabilities - useful evidence for a security audit.
Runs at 0 to 45 °C and 0 to 95% humidity. Supplied and invoiced locally in Singapore with GST.

Compatibility & Fit
Which UPS families accept the AP9641. The card fits an APC SmartSlot bay, and Schneider's compatibility chart is the same as for the AP9640: single-phase SUA, SUM, SURT, SURTA, SURTD, SUVT, MGE Galaxy 3500, and the current SMT, SMX, SRT, SRC, SMTL, SRTL and SRYL ranges, plus Symmetra LX and Symmetra RM at firmware v1.5.1.1 or later; three-phase Symmetra PX1 20/40/48 kW, Symmetra PX2 96/100/160 kW, Galaxy VM, Galaxy VX, Galaxy PX, Galaxy 3L Pro, Easy UPS 3-Phase Modular and Easy UPS 3M Advanced. Legacy SUA units need post-2008 manufacture and firmware v1.4.2 or later.
In the SourceIT catalogue that covers the Smart-UPS SmartConnect range (SMT and SMC), the Smart-UPS X range - for example the SMX1500RMI2U - and the Smart-UPS On-Line SRT range, such as the SRT5KRMXLI. Smart-UPS X "NC" variants already have a card fitted and no free slot.

One SmartSlot, one card. Most single-phase Smart-UPS models provide exactly one SmartSlot. The AP9641 is generally the strongest use of that slot because it combines network management with sensor ports, where the AP9640 gives network management alone and the AP9613 gives dry contact signalling alone. If you need several dry contacts rather than one or two, the AP9613 remains the right card.
When to use a NetBotz appliance instead. If you need more than two sensors, door access control, leak or smoke detection, or monitoring that is independent of any one UPS, the NetBotz Rack Monitor 250 (NBRK0250A) is the right product - six universal sensor ports, up to 42 wired sensors, and badged access control for two rack doors.
Not for Rack PDUs. APC managed Rack PDUs have their own network port and do not take a Network Management Card.

What does the AP9641 add over the AP9640?
Two universal I/O ports for environmental sensors, three USB ports instead of one micro-USB console, Modbus RTU over serial through port 2, and support for the optional AP9834 Wi-Fi dongle. An AP9335T temperature sensor is also included in the box. The network management function itself - protocols, web interface, SNMP, PowerChute support - is identical on both cards.
Which sensors can I plug into it?
The AP9335T temperature sensor, the AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor, and the AP9810 dry contact I/O accessory, which adds two input contacts and one output relay. Two ports means two devices. If you need more sensors than that, look at the NetBotz Rack Monitor 250 instead.
Does a sensor come with the card?
Yes - Schneider's package contents list for the AP9641 includes an AP9335T temperature sensor. If you want humidity as well, add an AP9335TH on the second port; humidity is worth measuring in a Singapore comms cabinet, since sustained high relative humidity shortens the life of both electronics and UPS batteries.
Will it fit my UPS?
It needs a free SmartSlot. Schneider's compatibility chart covers the current SMT, SMX, SRT, SRC, SMTL, SRTL and SRYL ranges, legacy SUA, SUM, SURT, SURTA, SURTD and SUVT units, MGE Galaxy 3500, Symmetra LX and RM, and the three-phase Symmetra PX and Galaxy families. Most single-phase Smart-UPS have one slot only, and the "NC" Smart-UPS X variants ship with it already filled. Send us the UPS part number and we will confirm.
Can it talk to a building management system?
Yes. It supports BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP and Modbus RTU over serial. The serial Modbus option is the reason to choose the AP9641 over the AP9640 when the head-end you have to integrate with is an older serial system rather than an IP one.
Can it shut my servers down automatically?
Yes, with PowerChute Network Shutdown, which the card supports. PowerChute communicates with the card over the network and shuts physical and virtual machines down gracefully before the battery is exhausted. Ask SourceIT about licensing for your host count.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty?
