APC Smart-UPS RT 20kVA 230V International
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Smart-UPS RT 20kVA 230V International (SRTG20KXLI) - 2 Years Local Warranty
20 kVA / 20 kW Double-Conversion On-Line UPS for the Singapore Data Hall
The APC Smart-UPS On-Line SRTG20KXLI is the largest UPS in the Smart-UPS range: 20,000 VA / 20,000 W of double-conversion capacity with a built-in static bypass, in the same 7U chassis as the 15 kVA model. Incoming mains is rectified to DC and regenerated as a clean sine wave, so the load is fed from the inverter continuously rather than being switched over when the supply fails. Output voltage distortion is rated at less than 5% and input harmonic distortion at less than 5% at full load — the latter matters on a shared Singapore riser, where a UPS that draws distorted current makes life harder for everything else on the board.
Unity Power Factor, 1:1 / 3:1 / 3:3 Configuration and Real Overload Headroom
The SRTG20KXLI delivers a full 20,000 W from its 20,000 VA rating, and can be configured 1:1 (single-phase in, single-phase out), 3:1 (three-phase in, single-phase out) or 3:3 (three-phase in and out). Output is 380–415 V three phase (configurable 380 / 400 / 415) or 230 V single phase at 50/60 Hz ±0.1 Hz synchronised to mains, giving 90.9 A on 1:1 and 3:1 or 30.4 A per phase on 3:3. Schneider rates overload capability at 125% for 60 seconds and 150% for 30 seconds, and efficiency in battery operation at 93%.
Published Runtime and Scalable Battery Capacity
Schneider publishes real runtime figures for the SRTG20KXLI: 3 minutes 30 seconds at the full 20,000 W, and 9 minutes 30 seconds at half load (10,000 W). Internal batteries are sealed maintenance-free VRLA on a ±192 V bus, 9 Ah, 3,265 VAh, with a 2,160 W charger and a 4-hour recharge time. Add up to four SRTG192XLBP2 external battery packs; Schneider's capacity ladder runs 6,912, 10,617, 13,824 and 17,280 VAh as packs are added. Expected battery service life is three to five years, and in a Singapore plant room ambient temperature is what determines whether you get three or five.
7U Rack or Tower — and the Rail Kit Is Not Included
The SRTG20KXLI is rack / tower convertible in a 306 mm (H) x 440 mm (W) x 700 mm (D) chassis, occupying 7U when racked. The rail kit is not included: SRTGRK1 is the kit for the power module and SRTGRK2 for the battery pack, both ordered separately. Net weight is 142.5 kg, so this is a planned installation — check the cabinet's static load rating, mount it at the very bottom, and arrange proper handling. Acoustic noise is 58 dBA and thermal dissipation 3,821 BTU/hr, appreciably more heat than the 15 kVA model, so size the room cooling accordingly.
Network Management Card Pre-Installed, Graphical LCD, Local Singapore Supply
A network management card is pre-installed from the factory, with a one-year Secure NMC subscription per Schneider's listing, and the unit provides RS-232 serial, USB, a parallel port, EPO, a maintenance bypass signal (MBS) input and a battery temperature sensor. The graphical LCD scrolls input voltage and frequency, output voltage, current and frequency, load in kW / kVA and percent, battery temperature and capacity, runtime and ambient temperature, with colour-coded amber and red alerting. Schneider recommends PowerChute Network Shutdown for graceful multi-server shutdown. SourceIT supplies the SRTG20KXLI from Singapore with a GST invoice and local warranty support — no overseas RMA, no import paperwork.

Compatibility & Runtime
What you can connect. Output is delivered on (1) hard wire 5-wire (3P + N + E), (1) hard wire 3-wire (1P + N + E) and (1) IEC connector 3-wire (1P + N + E). This is a distribution-board UPS, not a plug-and-play one — almost all of the load reaches it through a downstream distribution board or rack PDU rather than through outlets on the UPS itself. Total the real power draw (watts) of everything you intend to protect and keep it below 20,000 W. Schneider names the IEC outlet type as C19 on the 15 kVA data sheet but not on the 20 kVA sheet, so we have not stated a connector type here that the document does not confirm — ask SourceIT if it matters for your design.
Runtime at stated loads. Schneider publishes 3 minutes 30 seconds at the full 20,000 W and 9 minutes 30 seconds at half load (10,000 W). Runtime is not linear — halving the load more than doubles the time on battery — and these figures apply to a healthy battery at rated temperature. Recharge time is 4 hours. At this capacity the UPS is normally sized to ride through a dip and cover generator start, so ask SourceIT for a runtime calculation against your measured load and your generator start time.
Extended runtime. Connect up to four SRTG192XLBP2 external battery packs. Schneider's published capacity ladder is 6,912, 10,617, 13,824 and 17,280 VAh as packs are added. Note that this is a maximum of four, not the ten supported by the smaller SRT models — do not assume the SRT figure carries across. The replacement cartridge for both the UPS and the pack is the APCRBC172.
Rack fit. 7U when racked, in a 306 mm (H) x 440 mm (W) x 700 mm (D) chassis, and rack / tower convertible. The rail kit is not included — order SRTGRK1 for the power module and SRTGRK2 for the battery pack. At 142.5 kg for the UPS alone and 116 kg per battery pack, check the cabinet's static load rating and mount everything at the very bottom. Thermal dissipation is 3,821 BTU/hr, so confirm the room has cooling headroom.
Input and circuit — read this before ordering. The SRTG20KXLI is hard wired: (1) 5-wire (3P + N + E) plus (1) 3-wire (1P + N + E) terminal block, with no plug. It can be configured 1:1, 3:1 or 3:3. Maximum input current is 87 A per the data sheet, with a switching capacity of 125 A; the operation manual gives 124.1 A at 1:1 and 41.5 A per phase at 3:1 and 3:3. A licensed electrician must size and terminate the supply. Confirm the arrangement with your electrician and building management well before delivery.
Network management and monitoring. A network management card is pre-installed, so SNMP and HTTPS monitoring are available out of the box — but note the SmartSlot is occupied by that card, so there is no free slot for an AP9613 Dry Contact I/O card or a second management card. Dry-contact style signalling is instead available through the maintenance bypass signal (MBS) input and the parallel port. Schneider recommends PowerChute Network Shutdown for graceful multi-server shutdown.
Package Contents & Smart-UPS RT (SRTG) Ordering Information
In the box: Schneider does not publish an itemised package-contents list for the SRTG units — the operation manual asks you to inspect the package contents on receipt but does not enumerate them — so we have not invented one. A Smart-UPS signalling RS-232 cable is confirmed as supplied, and the network management card is pre-installed. Ask SourceIT if you need contents confirmed before a tender submission.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC SRTG20KXLI
What is the difference between the 20,000 VA and 20,000 W rating, and how do I size the SRTG20KXLI?
VA is apparent power and W is real power. On many UPS families the watt figure is lower than the VA figure, and watts is what limits you — but the SRTG20KXLI is a unity power factor design, so it delivers the full 20,000 W. Add up the real draw of everything you want on battery and keep the total below 20,000 W. At this capacity you should be sizing against a measured load from a power meter rather than nameplate figures; ask SourceIT to work through it with you.
How long will the SRTG20KXLI run on battery?
Schneider publishes 3 minutes 30 seconds at the full 20,000 W and 9 minutes 30 seconds at half load (10,000 W). That is deliberately short — a UPS at this capacity is normally sized to ride through a dip and cover generator start, not to run the room for an hour. For longer autonomy add SRTG192XLBP2 packs, up to four, following Schneider's capacity ladder of 6,912 / 10,617 / 13,824 / 17,280 VAh. Recharge time is 4 hours.
Can the SRTG20KXLI take a three-phase supply?
Yes, and this is one of the main reasons to specify it. It supports 1:1 (single-phase in, single-phase out), 3:1 (three-phase in, single-phase out) and 3:3 (three-phase in and out). Input is 380–415 V three phase or 230 V single phase, hard wired through a 5-wire (3P + N + E) plus 3-wire (1P + N + E) terminal block. In a Singapore building where the riser is three-phase but your rack load is single-phase, 3:1 is usually the configuration you want.
Does the SRTG20KXLI produce a sine wave output, and will it work with an active-PFC power supply?
Yes. It is an on-line double-conversion design with a sine wave output rated at less than 5% voltage distortion, so the load is fed from the inverter continuously. That is exactly the output type active-PFC server and workstation power supplies expect — unlike the step-approximated output of entry-level line-interactive and standby UPS units, which some active-PFC supplies reject outright.
What overload can the SRTG20KXLI handle?
Schneider rates it at 125% of full load for 60 seconds and 150% for 30 seconds, with efficiency in battery operation of 93%. That headroom is what lets the unit ride through motor starts and switch-mode inrush without transferring to bypass. It is not a licence to run the UPS permanently above its rating — sustained overload will transfer the load to static bypass, and the load is then unprotected.
Which replacement battery does the SRTG20KXLI take?
The APCRBC172, quantity 2. The internal batteries are sealed maintenance-free VRLA on a ±192 V bus at 9 Ah. Note this is a different cartridge from the APCRBC140 used across the SRT 5–10 kVA range — do not order by analogy. Expected service life is three to five years, and heat is the main determinant.
How much rack space does the SRTG20KXLI need, and is the rail kit included?
It occupies 7U in a 306 mm (H) x 440 mm (W) x 700 mm (D) chassis and is rack / tower convertible. The rail kit is not included. Net weight is 142.5 kg for the UPS and 116 kg for each battery pack, so check the cabinet's static load rating, mount everything at the bottom, and arrange proper handling before delivery day. Thermal dissipation is 3,821 BTU/hr.
Can I add a second network management card or a dry-contact card?
Not in the SmartSlot. A network management card is pre-installed and it occupies the only slot, leaving zero free. Dry-contact style signalling is available instead through the maintenance bypass signal (MBS) input and the parallel port, and the unit also provides RS-232 serial, USB and a battery temperature sensor connection.
How does the SRTG20KXLI compare with the SRTG15KXLI?
They share the same chassis, weight, footprint, battery architecture and management. The SRTG20KXLI gives 5,000 W more capacity for the same 7U and 142.5 kg, but it needs a heavier supply (87 A maximum input current and 125 A switching capacity versus 66 A and 100 A on the SRTG15KXLI) and dissipates more heat (3,821 BTU/hr versus 2,866). Full-load runtime is correspondingly shorter: 3 minutes 30 seconds versus 5 minutes 30 seconds. Since the footprint is identical, take the 20 kVA unit if the supply and the cooling support it.
Is the SRTG20KXLI covered by warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every APC SRTG20KXLI sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SRTG20KXLI with a 3-year manufacturer warranty on the UPS (repair or replace, excluding the battery) and 2 years on the battery.
