APC Rack PDU,Basic, Zero U, 16A, 230V
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC NetShelter Basic Rack PDU, Zero U, 16A, 230V, (20) C13 & (4) C19, IEC C20 Inlet (AP7552) - 2 Years Local Warranty
Twenty-Four Outlets Without Losing a Single Rack U
The APC NetShelter Basic Rack PDU AP7552 mounts vertically down the side of the rack, so all twenty-four of its outlets - twenty IEC C13 and four IEC C19 - cost you no usable rack units at all. In a Singapore server room where every U is spoken for, a 0U strip is the difference between fitting another switch in and not.
A 1.6 Metre Strip - Check Your Rack Height
This is a full-height vertical strip: 1,619 mm long, 56 mm wide and 44 mm deep, weighing 4.86 kg. It is designed to run the height of a standard 42U enclosure. Much shorter figures for this part circulate in third-party data, so measure your vertical channel against the 1,619 mm dimension in the specification table before ordering.
Straightforward 16 A Distribution at 230 V
Fed through an IEC C20 inlet, the AP7552 delivers up to 3,680 VA (3.68 kW) at Singapore's 230 V, 50 Hz mains. Twenty C13 outlets cover servers, switches and appliances; four C19 outlets take the heavier 16 A devices that a C13-only strip cannot serve.
Basic Means Basic - and That Is the Point
There is no meter, no display and no network port on this model. It is a passive distribution strip, which is exactly what you want behind a metered UPS or a metered upstream PDU where the measurement already happens somewhere else. Toolless mounting hardware and rack brackets are included, so installation is quick. If you do need per-rack measurement, the metered AP8858 is the equivalent step up.

Compatibility & Load Planning
What you can plug into it. Twenty IEC C13 outlets take standard C14 equipment cords, which covers virtually all rack servers, switches, routers and appliances. Four IEC C19 outlets take 16 A C20 cords for blade chassis, storage shelves and larger core switches. Twenty-four outlets on one strip is a lot of capacity - in practice you will run out of amps before you run out of sockets.
Load planning. Rated 16 A, 3,680 VA (3.68 kW) at 230 V. Add up the nameplate current of everything you intend to connect and keep it comfortably under 16 A - allow headroom for inrush when a rack full of equipment powers up together after an outage. Because this is a Basic PDU there is no meter to warn you as you approach the limit, so either measure at the UPS or upstream PDU, or choose a metered model such as the AP8858 or AP8853.
Rack fit. This is a 0U vertical strip 1,619 mm long - roughly the full height of a 42U enclosure - 56 mm wide and 44 mm deep. It mounts in the vertical channel at the rear of the rack and consumes no rack units. Confirm your enclosure has the vertical mounting depth and channel to take a 1.6 m strip before ordering; in a short or wall-mount cabinet a 1U model such as the AP9559 - ten C13 plus two C19 - is the better fit.
Feeding it. The inlet is IEC C20 and the supply cord is a C19-to-C20 type rated for 16 A. Schneider publishes a 3.0 m cord length for this model but does not name a cord in its package contents list, so ask us to confirm whether one is included before you order. A 16 A dedicated circuit is the sensible upstream arrangement, and do not feed a 16 A strip through a 10 A cord.
Management and monitoring. None on this model, by design. There is no meter, no LCD, no LEDs and no network port - Schneider publishes no such fields for the AP7552, and claims of surge protection or LED status indication seen elsewhere against this part are not supported by any Schneider document. If you need remote visibility, the metered and switched models in this range provide it natively.

Locking Output Cords (Sold Separately)
These are the cords that run from this unit's C13 outlets to your equipment's C14 inlets. The locking design stops a cord being nudged out of its outlet while you work in the rack - a common and entirely avoidable cause of an unplanned reboot. Note that this is an output cord kit, not this unit's supply cord - if you also need an input cord, tell us and we will quote the right type for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC AP7552
What does "Basic" mean on an APC Rack PDU?
It means power distribution and nothing else - no current metering, no local display, no network port and no outlet switching. The outlets are live whenever the PDU is powered. Basic is the right choice when measurement already happens upstream at the UPS or the row PDU, or when the budget is better spent elsewhere. Metered models add a meter and a network port; Switched models add remote per-outlet control.
How long is this PDU physically?
1,619 mm - about 1.6 metres, designed to run the full height of a 42U enclosure. It is 56 mm wide and 44 mm deep and weighs 4.86 kg. Third-party listings sometimes quote a much shorter figure for this part; plan around the 1,619 mm dimension from Schneider's own data.
Does it have surge protection?
No. There is no surge suppression, no joule rating and no surge specification in any Schneider document for the AP7552. If you need surge and dip protection for the rack, that belongs upstream at a UPS - it is not something a Basic PDU does.
How much load can it actually take?
16 A, or 3,680 VA (3.68 kW) at 230 V. That is the real constraint - not the outlet count. Twenty-four outlets exist so you can reach every device tidily, not so you can draw 24 devices' worth of current. Add up nameplate currents before you commit, and talk to us if you want help sizing.
What is the difference between the AP7552 and the AP7553?
Only the input side. Both have twenty C13 and four C19 outlets on the same 1,619 mm strip. The AP7552 is 16 A through an IEC C20 inlet, giving 3.68 kW. The AP7553 is 32 A through an IEC 60309 commando cord, giving 7.4 kW - twice the capacity, but it needs a 32 A commando outlet in the rack.
Is 0U or 1U the better choice?
0U if you are short of rack units and your enclosure is tall enough to take a 1.6 m strip in the vertical channel - it is the standard arrangement in a full-height server rack. 1U if the cabinet is short, wall-mounted, or you want the outlets at the front. The AP9559 and AP9565 are the 1U models in this range - note that the AP9559 keeps two C19 outlets and the AP9565 has none.
Does it come with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
Yes. Every APC NetShelter Basic Rack PDU AP7552 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the AP7552 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
