APC Easy Rack PDU, Switched, 0U, 3 Phase, 22kW, 230V
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Easy Rack PDU, Switched, 0U, 3 Phase, 22kW 230V 32A, (18) C13 & (6) C19, IEC 60309 3P+N+PE Inlet (EPDU1232S) - Local Warranty
22kW of Three-Phase Rack Power With Per-Outlet Switching
The APC Easy Rack PDU Switched (EPDU1232S) is a 0U vertical strip for three-phase racks. Schneider's full product name gives the configuration precisely: 22 kW, 230 V, 32 A, eighteen C13 and six C19 outlets, fed through an IEC 60309 3P + N + PE inlet.
Every one of those 24 outlets can be switched on and off individually over the network, with configurable on and off delays so that equipment powers up in a controlled sequence rather than all at once. For a rack full of servers that is the difference between a clean restart and a breaker trip.
Remote Power Cycling Without a Site Visit
Outlet-level switching is what turns a PDU into an operations tool. A hung appliance in a colocation cage, a switch that needs a hard reset at 2 a.m., a device that has to be isolated before maintenance - all of it is done from a browser instead of a taxi ride to the data centre.
Sequenced power-up matters just as much in Singapore, where a PUB supply interruption followed by a UPS-backed restart can otherwise present the whole rack's inrush current to the breaker at the same instant. Staggered on-delays spread that load.
Metering, an LCD and Built-In Network Management
The unit meters device power, apparent power, power factor and energy, along with per-phase voltage and current, and raises alarm status for voltage, current, temperature and humidity conditions. An LCD display module with backlight and buzzer gives the same readings at the rack.
Network management is built into the PDU - there is no separate management card to buy. Access is over HTTP or HTTPS, with SNMP v1, v2c and v3, and Modbus-TCP available (disabled by default). Self-signed and CA-signed PEM certificates are both supported, and DHCP is enabled out of the box. A temperature and humidity sensor port is provided, and up to four Easy PDUs can be daisy-chained over an RS-485 serial link.
Three-Phase Distribution for a Full Singapore Server Rack
At 22 kW this is a full-rack PDU, intended for cabinets that draw more than a single-phase strip can deliver. Balancing load across three phases is the practical reason to specify it: per-phase current and voltage metering tells you whether your rack is actually balanced or quietly loading one phase far harder than the others.
As with every APC Rack PDU, there is no surge protection built in - Schneider states this for the range - so the upstream protection has to come from a UPS or a dedicated surge protective device. Supplied and invoiced locally in Singapore with GST.

Compatibility & Load Planning
What plugs in. Eighteen C13 outlets and six C19 outlets, 24 in total. C13 outlets take the standard IEC lead used by servers, switches and most rack equipment; C19 outlets take the heavier C20-terminated leads used by high-draw servers, blade chassis and rack UPS units. Confirm your C19 count before ordering - six is generous for a mixed rack but can be tight in a dense compute cabinet.
Three-phase input, and what that requires. The inlet is an IEC 60309 3P + N + PE connector rated 32 A, at 230 V phase voltage, giving 22 kW. This is a three-phase product: it needs a three-phase supply and a suitably rated circuit at the rack position. It is not an alternative to a single-phase strip on an ordinary 230 V circuit. If your rack is fed single phase, the closest single-phase products are the AP8853 at 32 A and 7,400 VA, or the AP7822B at 32 A in 2U. Both are metered only - they do not switch outlets - and both are roughly a third of this unit's capacity, so they are alternatives rather than equivalents.
Load balancing across phases. Per-phase voltage and current metering is the feature to use here. Distribute the rack's equipment across the three phases and check the readings rather than assuming: an unbalanced rack loads one phase far harder than the others and can trip a breaker while the rack's total draw still looks modest.
Rack fit. 0U vertical, so it consumes no usable rack units. Schneider does not publish the strip's physical length or its mounting method in the documentation available to us, and a 0U strip has to fit the cabinet it is going into, so confirm both against your cabinet with SourceIT before ordering.
Network management is built in. There is no card to add. The PDU has its own network port and web interface, with SNMP v1, v2c and v3 and Modbus-TCP for integration. APC Network Management Cards such as the AP9640 and AP9641 are UPS SmartSlot cards and are not used with this PDU.
Daisy-chaining. Up to four Easy PDUs can be linked over an RS-485 serial chain, which is useful where switch ports at the cabinet are scarce. Ask us to confirm how the chain is addressed for your deployment.
Environmental sensing. The unit provides a temperature and humidity sensor port. Ask SourceIT to confirm the exact sensor part number supported for this model before ordering a sensor, since the Easy Rack PDU line does not necessarily use the same sensor as the AP8000 series.
No surge protection. Schneider states that APC Rack PDUs do not include built-in surge protection; they distribute power rather than condition it. Upstream protection comes from the UPS or a dedicated surge protective device.
Package Contents & APC Easy Rack PDU Ordering Information

Frequently Asked Questions — APC EPDU1232S
How many outlets does it have?
Twenty-four: eighteen C13 and six C19. That is from Schneider's full product name for the part. Some third-party listings quote much larger outlet counts for this SKU - they do not match the manufacturer's own naming, so check the count against the C19 requirement of your heaviest equipment before ordering.
What does the "S" in EPDU1232S mean?
Switched. In the Easy Rack PDU naming, a Basic model distributes power only, a Metered model adds load measurement, and a Switched model such as this one adds individual outlet on/off control over the network, with configurable on and off delays for sequenced power-up. The 32 A rating and the three-phase input are what set this model apart from the smaller Easy Rack PDU builds.
Do I need a separate network management card for it?
No. Network management is built into the PDU: it has its own network port, a web interface over HTTP or HTTPS, SNMP v1, v2c and v3, and Modbus-TCP. APC Network Management Cards such as the AP9640 and AP9641 are UPS SmartSlot cards and are not used with rack PDUs.
Can I use this on a normal single-phase rack circuit?
No. It requires a three-phase supply through an IEC 60309 3P + N + PE inlet at 32 A. For a single-phase rack the closest alternatives are the AP8853 at 32 A with 42 outlets, or the AP7822B at 32 A in a 2U horizontal form - both metered only, with no outlet switching, and roughly a third of this unit's capacity. Ask your electrical contractor to confirm what supply is available at the rack position before specifying.
Does it have surge protection?
No. Schneider states that APC Rack PDUs do not include built-in surge protection - they are designed for power distribution, not power conditioning. Protection has to come from upstream: a UPS feeding the rack, or a dedicated surge protective device on the distribution board.
How long is the strip, and will it fit my cabinet?
Schneider does not publish the physical length of this model in the documentation available to us, and we do not quote figures we cannot verify against the manufacturer. Because a 0U strip has to fit the cabinet's vertical channel, ask SourceIT to confirm the current dimensions from the distributor before you order - we will get it in writing.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APC EPDU1232S sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice. Schneider Electric does not publish a warranty duration for this particular model in its product documentation, so rather than quote a figure we cannot verify, ask us to confirm the current manufacturer term in writing before you order.
