What fits in the frame

Any EIA-310 19-inch equipment, and specifically the large chassis switches and dense 1U switch stacks that a 600 mm rack struggles with. The 279 mm to 959 mm rail range takes deep core-switch chassis, and the 150 mm of extra width either side of the rails is where the integrated vertical cable managers and the patch-lead bundles live.

Rack accessories that belong to this cabinet

The AR7701 bolt-down kit anchors the SX frame. The AR8122BLK 1U fixed shelf carries 114 kg of non-rack equipment. The AR8136BLK blanking panels close off unused U so cooling air goes through the switches. All three are on this site.

Power for a network core

Core switches are usually dual-corded; feed the two supplies from two 0U PDUs in the rear channels on separate circuits, or from a UPS-backed PDU and a raw-mains PDU. Single-corded access switches go behind a rack ATS such as the AP4423 Rack ATS 16 A or AP4424 Rack ATS 32 A. For the UPS, the Smart-UPS SRT3000RMXLI on-line double conversion in 2U is the usual pairing for a switch-dense rack, with the Smart-UPS RT SRTG5KXLI where the load approaches 5 kVA.

Monitoring

A core rack is the one you most want to know about. The NetBotz Rack Monitor 250 (NBRK0250A) gives door-open, temperature, humidity and leak alerts with badged access control for two doors; an AP9641 Network Management Card in the UPS SmartSlot with an AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor is the lighter option.

Choosing between the SX sizes

AR3340 for the network core and heavy patching; AR3100 (600 x 1070 mm) for server rows; AR3104 for a half-height branch cabinet. The Easy Rack ER8202 (800 x 1000 mm) is the value alternative for a wide patching rack where SX features are not required.

Why 750 mm wide instead of 600 mm?

Cable. A 42U rack of 48-port switches carries well over a thousand patch leads, and in a 600 mm cabinet they end up in front of the equipment. The 750 mm AR3340 puts vertical cable managers beside the rails so leads route cleanly and the doors still close.

Will it fit on a 600 mm floor tile grid?

It is 750 mm wide, so it does not align with a 600 mm tile pitch on its own. Rows are usually laid out with the AR3340 as the core cabinet and 600 mm AR3100 server cabinets either side; tell us the room dimensions and we will help with the layout.

What is the load rating?

1701 kg static and 1021 kg dynamic — higher than the standard SX server rack, because a fully patched core cabinet with a rack UPS at the bottom is a heavy load.

Does it include cable management?

Yes. Integrated high-density cable managers and vertical cable managers are part of the enclosure, and the roof is designed for overhead cable access, so the usual separate cable-manager purchase is not needed.

Is the rear door split?

Schneider describes the AR3340 with a 16-gauge front door and a 16-gauge rear door; the split-rear-door arrangement is a feature of the 600 mm server enclosures. Allow full rear door swing clearance behind an AR3340.

Which UPS and PDUs go with it?

Dual-corded core switches take two 0U PDUs in the rear channels on separate feeds, for example two AP7553 Rack PDU Basic 0U 32 A units, with a Smart-UPS SRT3000RMXLI or Smart-UPS RT SRTG5KXLI UPS at the bottom. Single-corded switches go behind a AP4423 Rack ATS 16 A rack ATS.

How is it delivered?

Assembled on a pallet: 183.2 kg, 2118 mm high, 851 mm wide and 1321 mm long. It needs a goods lift, and if a doorway is lower than 2.12 m, unpack at the loading bay and roll the 1991 mm cabinet in on its castors.

Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?

Yes. Every APC AR3340 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice; APC by Schneider Electric prints a 5-year repair-or-replace warranty for the NetShelter SX enclosure, which is the term we pass on.
