The RUCKUS R550 is a dual-band, dual-concurrent 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) indoor access point with 2x2:2 radios on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. RUCKUS rates it at up to 1774 Mbps (802.11ax) and up to 512 client connections per AP, built for rooms where the number of connected devices keeps rising.
Unleashed: Controller-Less Wi-Fi
This is the Unleashed edition (part number prefix 9U1-). RUCKUS Unleashed access points carry an embedded controller, so there is no separate controller appliance or cloud subscription to buy. RUCKUS says you just plug it in and set it up from the RUCKUS Unleashed mobile app or any web browser, and add capacity by plugging in another Unleashed AP. Unleashed also manages RUCKUS ICX switches, and includes guest services, Dynamic PSK and SmartMesh wireless meshing.
BeamFlex+ Adaptive Antennas
RUCKUS BeamFlex+ adaptive antennas choose from up to 64 antenna patterns to focus signal towards clients, helping keep throughput up in busy RF environments with many devices.
Converged AP with Built-In IoT Radio
The R550 has onboard BLE and Zigbee (one switchable IoT radio), two 1GbE Ethernet ports and a USB 2.0 port for future wireless add-ons, so it can serve IoT sensors as well as Wi-Fi clients from the same ceiling mount.
Supplied in Singapore with Local Warranty
RUCKUS sells the R550 with a limited lifetime warranty. SourceIT supplies it locally in Singapore with a GST invoice. The R550 does not include a power adapter, PoE injector or secure mounting bracket; RUCKUS recommends 802.3at PoE+ for full functionality. Compatibility & Software Support
Management
This 9U1- part ships as an Unleashed AP: set up and managed from the RUCKUS Unleashed mobile app or a web browser, with no controller hardware. The R550 hardware is also supported by RUCKUS SmartZone, ZoneDirector, standalone and cloud (RUCKUS One) management — if you plan to run a controller or RUCKUS One from day one, the non-Unleashed part 901-R550-WW00 is the usual order.
Mixing with Other RUCKUS Gear
Unleashed can manage RUCKUS ICX switches alongside the access points. Wi-Fi 6 clients get the full 802.11ax feature set; 802.11a/b/g/n/ac devices remain supported.
