Is this a laser projector or a lamp projector?
The EB-982W uses a 230 W UHE lamp, not a laser light source. Epson rates the lamp at 6,500 hours in Normal mode and up to 17,000 hours in ECO mode, which is a long life for a lamp-based projector, but it is a consumable and will eventually need replacing. If you want a lamp-free installation with no consumable to budget for, look at the laser EB-L200W in WXGA or the EB-L200F in Full HD.
What does the "W" in EB-982W mean?
It denotes WXGA resolution in a 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio. Epson uses "F" for Full HD 1080p models, "U" for WUXGA and "E" or "X" for XGA. So the EB-982W is the widescreen WXGA model in this family; there is no Full HD variant of this exact model number.
How far back does it need to be mounted?
It is a standard-throw projector with a throw ratio of 1.38 to 2.24 and a 1.6x optical zoom, so it mounts back in the room rather than close to the wall. Epson specifies image sizes from 29 to 280 inches, with the wide setting reaching 280 inches at 8.45 m and the tele setting at 13.71 m. If your room cannot accommodate that distance, an ultra-short throw model such as the EB-770F is the better choice.
Is it an interactive projector?
No. The EB-982W is a display projector with no pen and no touch unit. For writing and annotation directly on the projected image, look at Epson's interactive models such as the EB-770Fi or the EB-760Wi.
What is the Moderator function, and how many people can connect?
Using Epson iProjection, up to 50 users can connect to the projector from laptops or mobile devices.
