APC Bypass PDU 230V 16A, 6xC13, 1xC19
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Service Bypass PDU, 2U, 230V 16A, (6) C13 & (1) C19, C20 Inlet (SBP3000RMI) - 2 Years Local Warranty
Service Your UPS Without Dropping the Load
The APC Service Bypass PDU (SBP3000RMI) sits between your rack UPS and the equipment it feeds, so the UPS can be serviced, have its batteries replaced, or be swapped out entirely while the connected load keeps running on utility power.
Schneider describes two positions. In the normal position the load is fed FROM UPS OUTPUT, with full battery backup. In BYPASS the load is fed directly from utility, with no battery support - and the UPS can then be unplugged and removed. It turns a full shutdown into a short maintenance window. Schneider's documents disagree on whether the transfer is make-before-break or break-before-make, so plan for a brief interruption and ask us to confirm before scheduling a live transfer.
The Piece Most Singapore Racks Are Missing
Sealed lead-acid batteries in a Singapore comms room typically want replacing every three to five years, and eventually the UPS itself reaches end of life. Without a bypass panel, both jobs mean shutting down whatever the UPS feeds - which in practice means either a weekend call-out or a deferred battery replacement that quietly leaves the rack unprotected.
With an SBP3000RMI fitted from the start, battery replacement and UPS swap-out become in-hours work. For any rack where downtime has to be scheduled with a business owner, that changes the economics of maintenance.
16A, Six C13 and One C19 Outlets in 2U
The unit is rated 16 A at 230 V (220 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) for a maximum load of 3,000 VA, fed through an IEC 60320 C20 inlet on a 2.5 m cord. Output is six IEC C13 outlets plus one C19, with an IEC jumper included.
It occupies 2U of rack space at 432 mm wide, 89 mm high and 76 mm deep, and weighs 2.09 kg. Rack mounting brackets and the user manual are supplied.
A Passive Panel - Metering, Networking and Surge Are Not Provided
This is deliberately simple hardware: a manual transfer arrangement and a set of outlets. Metering, a display, network management and surge protection are not provided. That simplicity is a virtue in a device whose whole job is to still work when it is needed years after installation.
Surge protection and power conditioning are the UPS's job, which is exactly why the panel exists - so the UPS can be kept in good order. Supplied and invoiced locally in Singapore with GST.

Compatibility & Load Planning
Which UPS models this panel is for. Schneider's own user guide for this unit is titled "Service Bypass Panel Smart-UPS 1500/2200/3000 RM Series" - that is, rack-mount Smart-UPS units of 1500, 2200 and 3000 VA. The se.com product page adds that it is designed for APC InfraStruXure Type A, Smart-UPS and Symmetra products. Its 16 A rating and 3,000 VA maximum load are the electrical ceiling.

| SMT1500RMI2UC | Smart-UPS 1500VA LCD RM 2U 230V with SmartConnect |
| SMT2200RMI2UC | Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD RM 2U 230V with SmartConnect |
| SMT3000RMI2U | Smart-UPS 3000VA LCD RM 2U 230V |
Send us your exact UPS part number before ordering and we will confirm the pairing against Schneider's documentation rather than inferring it from the VA rating alone. Note that the Smart-UPS X family is not named in this panel's user guide title, so a Smart-UPS X pairing needs confirming specifically.
Connector check. The panel's inlet is an IEC 60320 C20, and Schneider specifies a 2.5 m cord; ask us to confirm how that cord is terminated for your supply. Output is six C13 and one C19 - if your equipment needs more C19 positions than one, or more than seven outlets in total, this panel will need a rack PDU downstream of it, or a larger panel.
Load ceiling. 16 A and 3,000 VA maximum. That is the whole panel, not per outlet. Total the connected load before specifying, and remember that in bypass the same load runs on raw utility with no UPS protection at all.
Rack space. 2U, 432 x 89 x 76 mm, 2.09 kg. Budget 2U in addition to the UPS itself - a 2U UPS plus this panel is 4U of cabinet. Rack mounting brackets are supplied.
What it does not do. No metering, no display, no network management and no surge protection. If you need remote visibility of the load, that is a metered rack PDU downstream - and it must be one this panel can actually feed, which means a 16 A unit with a C20 inlet such as the AP8858, not a 32 A model. If you need automatic transfer between two independent supplies rather than a manual maintenance bypass, that is a Rack ATS such as the AP4423 - a different product solving a different problem.
Larger loads. For 32 A and up to 7,680 VA, with eight C13 and two C19 outlets and a choice of C20 or hardwire input, see the SBP5000RMI2U.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC SBP3000RMI
What does a service bypass panel actually do?
It lets you take the UPS out of the power path without dropping the load. In the normal position the load runs FROM UPS OUTPUT with full battery backup. Switch to BYPASS and the load runs directly on utility power, with no battery support, at which point the UPS can be unplugged, serviced, have its batteries changed, or be replaced entirely. Without one, every UPS battery replacement is a shutdown.
How much rack space does it take - is it 1U or 2U?
2U. The unit measures 432 x 89 x 76 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 2.09 kg. Budget that on top of the UPS itself, so a 2U rack UPS plus this panel occupies 4U of cabinet. Rack mounting brackets are supplied.
Which UPS models does it suit?
Schneider's user guide for the unit covers the Smart-UPS 1500, 2200 and 3000 VA RM series, and the product page adds APC InfraStruXure Type A, Smart-UPS and Symmetra products. Its electrical ceiling is 16 A and 3,000 VA. Schneider does not publish a per-model compatibility table we can verify, so send us your UPS part number and we will confirm the pairing before you order.
What are the input and output connectors?
Input is an IEC 60320 C20 inlet, with a 2.5 m cord specified; ask us to confirm how it is terminated for your supply. Output is six IEC C13 outlets plus one C19, and an IEC jumper is included. If your rack needs more outlets than that, put a suitably rated rack PDU downstream of the panel.
Is my load protected while the panel is in bypass?
No, and this is the point to be clear about with whoever owns the equipment. In BYPASS the load runs on raw utility power with no battery backup and no UPS conditioning. That is intentional - it is what allows the UPS to be removed - but it means bypass is a maintenance state, not a normal running state. Keep the window short and avoid scheduling it during periods of unstable supply.
Does it provide metering, network management or surge protection?
None of the three are provided. It is a passive panel with outlets, and Schneider's technical documentation for it carries no metering, display, networking or surge fields. For load visibility, add a suitably rated metered rack PDU downstream - one with a 16 A C20 inlet that this panel can actually feed. For surge protection and ride-through, that is the UPS's job - which is precisely why this panel exists, so the UPS can be properly maintained.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APC SBP3000RMI sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SBP3000RMI with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
