PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

APC Back-UPS Pro, 1200VA/720W, Tower, 230V (BR1200SI) - 2 Years Local Warranty

APC BR1200SI 1200 VA / 720 W UPS for Singapore's 230V / 50Hz Mains

The APC BR1200SI is a 1200 VA / 720 W line-interactive UPS with sine wave output, built for 230 V, 50 Hz supplies — exactly what Singapore's PUB grid delivers. It rides through the short dips, brownouts and momentary interruptions that follow an afternoon thunderstorm, and its Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects high and low mains voltage without going to battery, so the cells are not cycled every time the supply wanders. Output is 8 x C13 — 6 battery-backed, 2 surge-only.

Sine Wave Output for Active-PFC Power Supplies

Schneider's official product name for the BR1200SI states sine wave output. That matters: modern active-PFC ATX power supplies, many NAS units and some network appliances can chatter, alarm or shut down on a stepped waveform. If you are protecting a workstation or small server built in the last few years, the sine wave build is the one to specify. Two USB charging ports — one Type A and one Type C — are built into the front for phones and accessories.

Outlets, Runtime and Battery Life in a Humid Climate

Outlets are 6 x IEC 60320 C13 (battery backup and surge protection) plus 2 x IEC 60320 C13 (surge protection only). The surge-only outlets are there for printers, monitors and chargers that do not need backup but do need protection — keeping them off the battery bank is what buys you runtime on the equipment that matters. The battery is a sealed maintenance-free lead-acid (VRLA) cartridge with a 3 to 5 year expected service life. Singapore's heat and humidity are hard on VRLA cells, so plan on a cartridge change inside that window rather than at the end of it; the replacement part is APCRBC161. Schneider does not publish a runtime-versus-load table for the BR1200SI, so we do not print one — runtime depends entirely on how much of the 720 W you actually draw. Tell us your load in watts and we will size it for you.

SME Office, Home Office and Comms-Cabinet Duty

This is a tower unit at 260 mm (H) x 100 mm (W) x 368 mm (D), 11.7 kg (13.35 kg packaged) — it sits on a desk, under a counter or on the floor of a comms cupboard rather than in a rack, so it costs you no rack U. An RJ45 10/100/1000 Base-T port is built in to protect the data line as well as the power, which is worth having on a fibre-to-the-building service where the router is the thing that keeps dying. Everything SourceIT ships is local Singapore stock with a GST invoice and local warranty support — no grey imports, no chasing an overseas RMA.

What you can plug in

The BR1200SI presents 8 x C13 — 6 battery-backed, 2 surge-only. All outlets are IEC 60320 C13, so a standard C13 kettle lead connects a PC, monitor, switch, router or NAS directly. Only the battery-backed outlets carry the load through an outage; the surge-only outlets stay dead when the mains fails, which is the point — put the printer and the monitor there and keep the battery for the machine that must not stop. The unit takes its own supply through an IEC 60320 C14 inlet on a normal 13 A Singapore wall socket — no dedicated circuit and no electrician needed.

Sizing it: VA, watts and how much you can actually load

The BR1200SI is rated 1200 VA apparent power and 720 W real power. Size against the watts, not the VA — the watt figure is the one that runs out first on modern IT loads. As a working rule, keep the connected load under about 70% of 720 W so you have headroom for inrush and for the battery ageing. Schneider publishes no runtime table for this model, so any minutes figure you see quoted elsewhere is someone's estimate, not a manufacturer specification. Send us your equipment list and we will work out the real number.

Battery and replacement cartridge

The battery is a sealed maintenance-free lead-acid (VRLA) cartridge, 24 V 9.0 Ah. Typical recharge time is 16 h. The APC replacement cartridge for this model is APCRBC161APCRBC161 is stocked by SourceIT. The cartridge is user-replaceable from the front of the unit; APC does not describe this model's battery as swappable while running, so plan a short shutdown for the change.

Rack space and management software

This is a tower unit and is not rack mountable, so it consumes no rack U and needs no rail kit. This model has no SmartSlot, so an AP9640 or AP9641 Network Management Card cannot be fitted — if you need SNMP monitoring or an Ethernet-managed UPS, step up to the APC Smart-UPS range and we will quote it. Bundled shutdown software is not documented for this model in the Schneider material we can verify, so we do not claim it; ask us and we will confirm what ships in the current carton.

Package Contents & Back-UPS Pro BR Ordering Information

In the box

Schneider does not itemise the carton contents for this model in the documentation we can verify, so we will not invent a list. What we can tell you is that the unit ships as a complete tower UPS with its battery installed. If the exact carton contents matter for your tender or your install, ask us before you order and we will open a unit and tell you what is actually in it.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC BR1200SI

What is the difference between the 1200 VA and the 720 W rating?

1200 VA is apparent power and 720 W is real power. Your equipment consumes real power, so the 720 W figure is the one that limits what you can connect. Add up the wattage on the nameplates of everything you intend to back up and keep the total comfortably below 720 W.

How long will the BR1200SI run my equipment?

It depends entirely on load, and Schneider publishes no runtime table for this model — which is why you will not find minutes quoted on this page. A lightly loaded unit runs for many minutes; one near 720 W runs for a few. Send SourceIT your load in watts and we will calculate it against the 204 VAh battery rating rather than guess.

What does the "SI" in BR1200SI mean?

It identifies the build variant. SI is the newer 230 V build with true sine wave output and two USB charging ports (Type A and Type C) — a genuinely different unit from the same-VA "MI" model, not just a cosmetic variation. These suffixes are not interchangeable — outlet counts, waveform and battery cartridge all change with them, so order by the exact part number.

Is the output a pure sine wave, and will it drive an active-PFC power supply?

Yes — Schneider's official product name for the BR1200SI states sine wave output, so it suits active-PFC ATX power supplies, NAS units and other equipment that objects to a stepped waveform.

Which replacement battery does it take, and can I fit it myself?

The APC replacement battery cartridge for the BR1200SI is APCRBC161, stocked here: APCRBC161. It is user-replaceable — no tools beyond a screwdriver and no service call. APC does not describe this model's battery as swappable while running, so shut the unit down for the swap. Expect three to five years of service in an air-conditioned office, and less in a hot, humid comms cupboard.

Can I rack mount it or add a network management card?

No on both counts. The BR1200SI is a tower unit with no rack ears or rail kit option, and the Back-UPS Pro BR range has no SmartSlot, so an AP9640 or AP9641 card cannot be fitted. If you need a 19-inch rack UPS or SNMP monitoring, ask SourceIT about the APC Smart-UPS SMT, SMC and SMX ranges.

How does the BR1200SI compare with the BR1600SI?

The BR1600SI is the same sine wave, USB-equipped build at 1600 VA / 960 W instead of 1200 VA / 720 W. Both are stocked by SourceIT in Singapore — tell us the load and the budget and we will tell you which one is the right buy.

Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?

Yes. Every APC BR1200SI sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the BR1200SI with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Note that Schneider states three years inside the European Community and two years elsewhere — Singapore takes the two-year term, and any listing quoting three years for this market has copied the European figure.
