Epson EB-815E Extreme Short Throw 4K Laser Projector
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Epson EB-815E Extreme Short Throw 4K Enhancement Laser Projector (V11HA99180) - 3 Years Singapore Local Warranty
A 160-Inch Glare-Free Display From Centimetres off the Wall
Extreme short throw goes a step beyond ultra-short throw: with a throw ratio of 0.16 to 0.22, the EB-815E sits just centimetres from the wall and still delivers an image up to 160 inches diagonal — around 4.5 times the area of a 75-inch flat panel. For a Singapore classroom, a hybrid workspace or a retail display, that means a very large, glare-free image without losing floor depth and with nobody standing in the beam. An optional wall mount lets an existing whiteboard become the display surface, and Epson's Setting Assistant app shortens commissioning.
5,000 Lumens of 1080p With 4K Enhancement for Detail at Scale
Epson specifies 5,000 lumens of colour and white brightness, dropping to 3,500 lumens in Extended mode, with a dynamic contrast ratio of over 5,000,000:1. The image is 1080p with Epson's 4K Enhancement pixel-shifting technology, which lifts perceived sharpness at the very large image sizes this projector is built for — a real consideration when a soft edge becomes obvious across 160 inches. Frame interpolation, noise reduction and Epson's image preset modes complete the processing for both presentation content and video.
Native 16:9 Plus 16:10, 21:9 and 16:6 for Hybrid Meeting Rooms
Natively 16:9, the EB-815E also supports 16:10, 21:9 and 16:6 display ratios with built-in split screen and multi-device casting, so a video call and shared content can sit side by side at sensible sizes instead of one shrinking the other. Eight colour modes are available including Presentation, Cinema, Natural, Blackboard, DICOM SIM, Multi-Projection and Face Brightness — the last aimed at keeping remote participants well lit and legible rather than silhouetted against a bright background.
HDBaseT, HDMI Out and 20,000 Hours of Laser for Fixed Installation
Two HDCP 2.3 HDMI inputs, an HDBaseT input and an HDMI output allow the projector to sit at the end of a long structured cable run and still pass video onward to a second display. Wired LAN, RS-232C and in-built wireless LAN cover control, monitoring and casting. The laser diode light source is rated at 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in Extended mode, with a 20,000-hour electrostatic air filter cycle, so a permanently mounted unit needs very little attention across its service life.

Compatibility & Installation
Mounting and placement
The EB-815E measures 341 x 695 x 145 mm excluding feet and weighs approximately 12.5 kg, so it requires a properly specified wall mount fixed into structure rather than plasterboard alone. At a throw ratio of 0.16 to 0.22 it sits only centimetres from the wall, which makes the flatness and finish of the projection surface critical — a coated projection wall or a rigid matte board performs far better than a fabric screen, and gloss surfaces will hot-spot at this angle of incidence. With the optional wall mount, a traditional whiteboard can become the display.
Commissioning with the Setting Assistant app
Epson's Setting Assistant app guides alignment and geometry setup, which materially shortens installation at this throw ratio where small mounting errors produce visible keystone and focus variation across the image. Quick Corner handles final geometry correction once the projector is physically positioned.
What it connects to
Two HDCP 2.3 HDMI inputs cover a room PC and a visiting laptop or video bar, while the HDBaseT input lets a source rack sit a long structured-cable run away — the usual arrangement in a permanent meeting room or retail installation. The HDMI output passes video onward to a second display or a confidence monitor. Two USB Type A ports handle PC Free playback, firmware updates and the wireless module, with the second port also able to supply 5 V / 2 A to a streaming stick. RS-232C is available for control systems.
Network, wireless and collaboration
Wired LAN over RJ45 supports centralised monitoring and control. Wireless LAN is in-built, with an optional module also supported through USB Type A port 1, covering IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac in both infrastructure and Wi-Fi Direct modes along with Screen Mirroring. Built-in split screen and multi-device casting let several participants contribute to the display, which is what the 21:9 and 16:6 ratios are there to serve in a hybrid meeting room.

Frequently Asked Questions — Epson EB-815E
What is the difference between the EB-815E and the EB-810E?
We checked this against Epson Singapore's own published data rather than assuming, and the honest answer is that Epson publishes an identical specification set for both models: same 5,000 lumens, same 1080p with 4K Enhancement, same over 5,000,000:1 contrast, same 0.16 – 0.22 throw ratio and 160-inch maximum image, same two HDMI inputs plus HDBaseT and HDMI output, same in-built and optional wireless LAN arrangement, same 12.5 kg body and same 341 x 695 x 145 mm dimensions. They are supplied under different part numbers — V11HA99180 for the EB-815E and V11HA99080 for the EB-810E. If your specification, tender or site standard names one part number, tell us which and we will quote exactly that.
Is this a native 4K projector?
No, and it matters for a tender response. Epson describes it as 1080p with 4K Enhancement — a pixel-shifting technology that increases perceived detail beyond native Full HD. It is not a native 4K panel. At the large image sizes this projector is designed for, 4K Enhancement makes a visible difference to sharpness, but it should not be written up as native 4K.
What does "extreme short throw" buy me over ultra-short throw?
Distance and size. A throw ratio of 0.16 to 0.22, against roughly 0.27 to 0.37 on Epson's ultra-short throw models, means the projector sits closer to the wall and still reaches 160 inches rather than 130 or 150. Where floor depth is contested, or the mount has to sit tight above an existing whiteboard, that is the reason to choose this model.
Is it interactive?
No. The EB-815E is a display projector with no pens and no touch unit. If you need writing and annotation directly on the projected image, look at the interactive EB-770Fi or EB-760Wi instead.
Why does it support 21:9 and 16:6 as well as 16:9?
Because a hybrid meeting needs two things on the wall at once. An ultra-wide ratio with split screen lets a video call sit beside shared content at a workable size rather than one shrinking the other. The Face Brightness colour mode serves the same use case, keeping remote participants well lit instead of silhouetted.
Does it have built-in Wi-Fi?
Yes. Epson's specification for this model lists wireless LAN as in-built, with an optional module also supported through USB Type A port 1. It covers IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac in both infrastructure and Wi-Fi Direct modes and supports Screen Mirroring. Wired LAN over RJ45 is also provided for centralised monitoring and control.
How much does it weigh and what mount does it need?
Approximately 12.5 kg, with a body of 341 x 695 x 145 mm excluding feet, so it needs a properly specified wall mount fixed into structure. Allow commissioning time as well: at a 0.16 throw ratio small mounting errors are clearly visible, which is why Epson provides the Setting Assistant app to guide alignment.
What warranty and paperwork comes with it?
Every unit sold by SourceIT carries local Singapore warranty and is invoiced with a GST invoice. Support and warranty claims are handled locally rather than through an overseas grey-market channel.
