PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link VIGI 8MP Full-Color Turret Network Camera (VIGI C485) - 2 Years Local Warranty
The VIGI C485 records 3840 x 2160 through a 1/2.7 inch progressive scan CMOS sensor and keeps full colour after dark using four white LEDs reaching 30 m, alongside four 850 nm IR LEDs at the same distance. The metal turret housing is IP67 rated for Singapore weather, 120 dB WDR handles a bright entrance against a dark interior, and a single RJ-45 port carries 802.3af/at PoE at up to 12.5 W.
8MP Recording and the Published Frame-Rate Caveats
Maximum resolution is 3840 x 2160, with 2560x1440, 2304x1296, 2048x1280, 1920x1080 and 1280x720 also offered on the main stream. TP-Link lists the same frame-rate ladder for 50 Hz and 60 Hz — 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 fps — so 25 fps is the published ceiling. Two limits are published rather than hidden: if image rotation is set to 90 or 270 degrees the frame rate only supports up to 20 fps, and if 120 dB is turned on the frame rate can only support up to 20 fps. Main-stream encoding is H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 at 256 Kbps to 6 Mbps.
Full-Colour Night Vision, Not Just Infrared
Four 850 nm IR LEDs give monochrome vision to 30 m, and four white LEDs give full-colour vision to the same distance. Illuminator behaviour is set to auto, scheduled, always on or always off, so the white light can be reserved for alarm events instead of running all night. Minimum illumination is 0.005 Lux, falling to 0 Lux with either illuminator active, and white-light flashing is also available as an alarm linkage. Day and night switching uses an IR cut filter with unified, scheduled or auto modes.
Lens Options, Field of View and DORI
TP-Link publishes this model with two fixed focal lengths, 2.8 mm and 4 mm, both F1.6 on an M12*P 0.5 mount. At 2.8 mm the field of view is 111.4 degrees horizontal, 58.8 degrees vertical and 134 degrees diagonal, with DORI distances of detect 85 m, observe 35 m, recognise 17 m and identify 8 m. At 4 mm the view narrows to 91.5, 46.1 and 109.6 degrees but reaches further: detect 107 m, observe 44 m, recognise 21 m and identify 11 m. Manual adjustment is a full 360 degrees of pan and rotation with 0 to 85 degrees of tilt.
Smart Detection and Two-Way Audio
Smart events cover human and vehicle classification, intrusion detection, line-crossing detection, region entering and region exiting, object abandoned and object removal, loitering detection, Smart Frame, people detection and vehicle detection. Basic events cover motion detection, video tampering, exception for illegal login, and scene change detection. Alarm linkages are memory card video recording, message push, audible warning and white light flashing. Two-way audio works through a built-in microphone that records within a 5 m radius and a built-in speaker, with environment noise filtering supported.
IP67 Metal Housing, PoE or 12 V DC
The 111 x 111 x 83.7 mm metal housing is IP67 rated, waterproof cable attachments are supplied, and the published operating range is -30 to 60 C at 95 percent humidity or less, non-condensing. One RJ-45 10/100M self-adaptive Ethernet port carries 802.3af/at class 0 PoE at up to 12.5 W, or the camera runs from 12 V DC plus or minus 5 percent at up to 11.5 W through a 5.5 mm coaxial plug. Onboard recording uses a microSD card of up to 256 GB, which TP-Link states is not included.
Ideal For
Singapore shophouses, warehouses, car parks, condominium perimeters and building entrances where 8MP detail matters and colour identification after dark beats grey infrared, and installers standardising on PoE with VIGI recorders or a third-party ONVIF Profile S system. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes
TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: "Calculations based on laboratory testing using a 3MP VIGI camera, and an actual performance may vary according to the amount of activity recorded, resolution and other variables."; "Tile encoding is automatically enabled in H.265 mode when the horizontal resolution exceeds 2688. If a third-party NVR doesn't support tile encoding, it cannot enable H.265 mode. For optimal performance, we recommend using VIGI NVR with VIGI cameras."; and "SD card is not included in the package."
TP-Link does not publish a gross weight for this model. Alarm input and output are published as N/A, so this camera has no alarm terminals. There is no wireless specification for this model — it is a wired PoE camera. The published Wide Dynamic Range figure is 120 dB with no separate DWDR row.
Compatibility & Software Support
| VIGI Network Video Recorders | Full support — recommended pairing for continuous recording and central playback |
| Third-Party NVRs and VMS | Supported via ONVIF Profile S. Note TP-Link's tile-encoding caveat: a third-party NVR that does not support tile encoding cannot enable H.265 above 2688 horizontal resolution |
| Power | 802.3af/at class 0 PoE from a VIGI PoE recorder or any PoE switch, or a 12 V DC adapter |
| VIGI App | Supported on Android and iOS |
| VIGI Security Manager / VIGI VMS | Both published as supported clients for this model |
| Standalone Use | Supported — records to a microSD card up to 256 GB with no recorder present |
| Licensing | No per-camera or per-channel licence fee |
| Omada SDN Controller | Not applicable — VIGI is TP-Link's surveillance line and is managed through VIGI tools, not an Omada controller |

Frequently Asked Questions — VIGI C485
Can it record 8MP at 25 fps all the time?
25 fps is the published ceiling at 3840 x 2160, but TP-Link publishes two conditions that drop it to 20 fps: image rotation set to 90 or 270 degrees, and 120 dB wide dynamic range turned on. Plan bandwidth and storage around 20 fps if you intend to run WDR.
Will it work with a third-party NVR?
Yes, through ONVIF Profile S. TP-Link notes that tile encoding switches on automatically in H.265 mode above 2688 horizontal resolution, and a third-party NVR that cannot handle tile encoding will not be able to use H.265 at full resolution. A VIGI NVR avoids the issue.
Does it really record in colour at night?
Yes. Four white LEDs light the scene to 30 m for full-colour footage, and four 850 nm IR LEDs cover the same distance in monochrome if you prefer the light off. The mode can be scheduled or left on auto.
Can it run without a recorder?
Yes. A microSD card of up to 256 GB records on the camera and the VIGI app gives live view and playback. The card is not supplied. Note this is a wired camera — there is no Wi-Fi option on the C485.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Two years local Singapore warranty, the tier TP-Link publishes for its outdoor camera series, which this IP67-rated model falls under. A GST invoice comes with every order.
