PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link VIGI 16 Channel Network Video Recorder (VIGI NVR1016H) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The VIGI NVR1016H records sixteen IP camera channels at up to 8MP over your existing network, in a compact 246 mm chassis with one SATA bay. It has no PoE ports, so it suits a site where the cameras are already fed by a PoE switch and only the recording layer needs adding or replacing.

Sixteen Channels Over One Network Port

A single RJ-45 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive port carries all sixteen camera streams from the LAN. That keeps camera placement free of any run length back to the recorder, and lets an existing Omada or third-party PoE switch continue doing the power and aggregation. Incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps and outgoing is 60 Mbps, which is the figure to plan sixteen streams against — it rewards sensible sub-stream configuration rather than sixteen full-resolution feeds.

8MP Recording in H.265+ on a 10 TB Drive

Recording covers 8MP, 5MP, 4MP, 3MP, 1080p, UXGA, 720p, VGA and the CIF family in H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264. One SATA bay takes a drive up to 10 TB. On a sixteen-camera site H.265+ is not a nicety but the thing that makes the retention arithmetic work at all.

Sixteen-Way Display, Measured Decoding

HDMI outputs up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz and VGA up to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz, simultaneously, with multi-view at 1, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 16 channels. Synchronous playback covers all sixteen. TP-Link publishes decoding capability for this model as 1-ch at 8MP, 2-ch at 4MP or 4-ch at 2MP, which is deliberately modest — this is a recorder for many channels at sensible resolutions rather than a high-resolution review station.

Smart Detection With Human and Vehicle Classification

General alarms cover motion detection, video tampering, line crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, vehicle detection and human detection. Anomaly alarms cover video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk exception and login exception. Linkages include recording, white-light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm.

ONVIF, VIGI App and VIGI Security Manager

Management runs from the local GUI, a browser (Chrome 57+, Firefox 52+, Edge 91+), the VIGI app on Android and iOS, or VIGI Security Manager. Interoperability is ONVIF and CGI. TP-Link notes that some features may operate sub-optimally with non-VIGI cameras, and that some peripherals — a wireless mouse, for instance — may be incompatible with the local interface.

Ideal For

Singapore schools, factories, condominium estates and multi-tenant buildings with sixteen cameras already on PoE switching, and installers consolidating several small recorders into one. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes

TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: the HDD is not included and a drive must be installed for operation; some devices, such as a wireless mouse, may be incompatible; storage calculations are based on laboratory testing using a 3MP VIGI camera; and some features may operate sub-optimally with non-VIGI cameras. Note that TP-Link's certification row for this model does not list FCC, unlike its siblings; it is reproduced as published rather than harmonised.

TP-Link's own NVR1016H page publishes a third gallery image whose filename belongs to the VIGI NVR4032H, a different recorder SourceIT also stocks. It has been left out of this listing rather than shown as an NVR1016H; ask us for a photograph of the unit as stocked if you need one.

Compatibility & Software Support

This recorder has no PoE ports. Cameras must be powered by a PoE switch, a PoE injector or their own power adapters, and reach the recorder over the LAN.

Third-Party Cameras Supported via ONVIF and CGI; TP-Link states some features may operate sub-optimally
Camera Power Not provided by this recorder — use a PoE switch, injector or adapters
VIGI App Supported on Android and iOS
VIGI Security Manager Supported — desktop management for VIGI cameras and recorders
Web Management Chrome 57+, Firefox 52+, Edge 91+
Peripherals TP-Link notes some devices, such as a wireless mouse, may be incompatible with the local interface
Licensing No per-channel or per-camera licence fee
Omada SDN Controller Not applicable — VIGI is TP-Link's surveillance line and is managed through VIGI tools, not an Omada controller

Frequently Asked Questions — VIGI NVR1016H

Does this recorder power the cameras?

No. The NVR1016H has no PoE ports. Cameras need a PoE switch, injectors or their own adapters and connect over the network.

Can it really handle sixteen 8MP cameras?

It will record up to 8MP, but incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps and published decoding is 1-ch at 8MP. In practice a sixteen-camera site is designed with sub-streams for the live wall and full resolution on recording. Send us the camera list and we will check the numbers before you order.

Does it come with a hard disk?

No. One SATA drive up to 10 TB is required and must be installed before recording starts. We can supply a surveillance-rated drive with the unit.

How does it compare with the NVR2016H?

The NVR2016H is the larger 330 mm chassis with two SATA bays, an eSATA port and a higher published decoding figure. The NVR1016H is the compact single-bay unit. Both are sixteen-channel and neither has PoE.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every order.
