TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N 4G LTE Router (TL-MR6400) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The TL-MR6400 is the single-band workhorse of TP-Link's 4G LTE router line. One 2.4 GHz radio at 300 Mbps, four 10/100 Mbps ports and two detachable external LTE antennas give a straightforward shared mobile connection - no dual-band tuning, no fixed line, just a nano SIM and a power socket.
Single-Band 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at 300 Mbps
Wi-Fi is IEEE 802.11b/g/n on 2.4 GHz only, published at 300 Mbps, with two internal Wi-Fi antennas. Sticking to 2.4 GHz keeps range and wall penetration at their best and keeps every older device compatible, at the cost of the higher throughput a 5 GHz radio would add. Published reception sensitivity is 11g 54M -74 dBm, 11n HT20 -71 dBm and 11n HT40 -67 dBm. A single 2.4 GHz guest network is supported.
LTE at Up to 150Mbps, With 3G and 2G Fallback
TP-Link publishes "download speeds of up to 150Mbps" on the 4G LTE connection - the mobile downlink figure, separate from the 300 Mbps 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi rate in the product name. Bands are FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 and TDD-LTE B38/B40, plus DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS on B1/B8 and EDGE/GPRS/GSM quad band. WAN Failover is published, so the unit can move between the mobile connection and a wired feed on the LAN/WAN port. The two external LTE antennas are detachable.
WDS Bridging and a VPN Server
The TL-MR6400 publishes a WDS Bridge function among its wireless features - useful for extending coverage to an outbuilding or a second unit without cabling. On the software side it carries a VPN server with PPTP VPN and OpenVPN, plus VPN pass-through for PPTP, L2TP and IPSec, and a firewall set of DoS protection, SPI firewall, IP address and domain filtering and IP/MAC binding.
Nano SIM Slot With Adapters Supplied
The SIM slot is published as a nano SIM slot, and the box includes both a Micro-to-Standard and a Nano-to-Standard SIM card adapter, so any common SIM size fits. TP-Link also publishes a WPS/Reset button, a wireless on/off button and a power on/off button. Ports are three 10/100 Mbps LAN and one 10/100 Mbps LAN/WAN in a 202 x 141 x 33.6 mm desktop body.

Does the TL-MR6400 have 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. It is a single-band 2.4 GHz router published at 300 Mbps. For dual-band on a 4G router, look at the Archer MR200, MR400, MR500 or MR505.
Which SIM size does it take?
Nano SIM. TP-Link publishes the slot both as "1× Nano SIM Card Slot" and as "1 SIM Card Slot", and the box contains Micro-to-Standard and Nano-to-Standard adapters so a micro or standard SIM will fit as well. Eight hardware revisions are in circulation, so ask us to confirm the SIM tray against the revision you are buying.
How fast is the 4G connection?
