TP-Link Tapo A200 Solar Panel, 4.5 W Max Charging, Micro USB, 4 m Cable
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Tapo Solar Panel (Tapo A200) - 1 Year Local Warranty
The Tapo A200 is the larger of TP-Link's two Tapo solar panels. It measures 237.96 x 174.85 x 17.5 mm, outputs over a fixed 4 m Micro USB charging cable, and is published at a maximum charging voltage of 5.2 V and a maximum charging power of 4.5 W. IP65 rated with a 360° adjustable wall-mount bracket, it keeps one battery camera topped up from daylight alone. Its published camera list differs from the smaller A201's — check yours below.
The Bigger Panel, With a Micro USB Output
Two Tapo solar panels exist and they are not interchangeable. The A200 is the larger one at 237.96 x 174.85 x 17.5 mm (9.37 x 6.88 x 0.69 in), and it terminates in a Micro USB output on a single fixed 4 m cable, so it plugs straight into a Micro USB camera with no adapter. The smaller A201 is 173.42 x 120.42 x 15.7 mm with a Type-C output and a shorter base cable plus an extension. Panel area is why the A200 is published at the higher charging figure of the pair.
5.2 V Maximum, 4.5 W Maximum Charging Power
TP-Link publishes a maximum charging voltage of 5.2 V for the A200 and a maximum charging power of 4.5 W. The same 4.5 W figure is repeated as the maximum power output in TP-Link's Hardware Features table, so the two tables agree. That is roughly double the 2.5 W TP-Link publishes for the A201, so the A200 is the panel to specify where a camera sees heavy daily triggering or sits in partial shade. TP-Link footnotes that actual charging power may vary with installation location, weather conditions, temperature and other environmental factors.
One Panel, One Camera
TP-Link states plainly that a solar panel can only connect to one camera. There is no splitter and no daisy chain, so a three-camera installation needs three panels. Plan siting per camera: each panel needs its own patch of direct sun and its own 4 m run back to the camera. TP-Link publishes a reference figure of 30 minutes of sunlight per day to sustain a camera, tied to laboratory conditions and a specified workload.
IP65 and a 360° Bracket for Singapore Weather
The A200 is IP65 rated against dust and water jets, which is the right level for a panel mounted on an exposed wall through a Singapore monsoon. TP-Link publishes a 360° adjustable mounting bracket, so the panel can be angled to catch the best of the available sun wherever it is fixed. Mounting is wall-mounted, and TP-Link's published package contents include two slide waterproof gaskets, three mounting anchors, three mounting screws and a mounting template. Published operating range is -20 to 45 C, storage -40 to 60 C, at 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing.
What the Panel Does Not Do
The A200 trickle-charges the camera's battery; it does not replace the battery, and the camera still needs its internal pack or a Tapo A100 fitted. It is a power accessory with no network connection, so it does not appear in the Tapo app as a device of its own and it has no bearing on recording, storage or voice control — those remain functions of the camera. TP-Link publishes certification as CE, FCC, RoHS and RCM, and publishes no net weight for this panel, so no weight is quoted here.
Ideal For
Singapore homes and small premises running a Tapo C400, C420 or C425 on an exposed wall, balcony, gate post or rooftop where there is real daylight and no convenient socket — and where the owner is tired of bringing the camera down to charge. Specify the A200 over the A201 when the camera has a Micro USB port, when the panel can sit up to 4 m away, or when the site is partly shaded and the extra output is worth having. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes
TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: "*Actual charging power may vary based on installation location, weather conditions, temperature, and other environmental factors"; "†30 min of sunlight time is based on standard environmental conditions (1000W/m2, 25℃, AM1.5) and specified working scenes (100 events triggered per day). Actual required time of sunlight may vary"; and "**The suitable temperature for Tapo A200 is -20℃~45 ℃. The working temperature range for battery charging should be maintained at 0℃~45℃."
TP-Link does not publish a net weight or a panel cell efficiency figure for the Tapo A200, so neither is quoted here.
Compatibility & Software Support
This is the A200's own published compatibility list. The Tapo A201 panel publishes a different list — do not read one across to the other.
| Supported Cameras | Works with Tapo C400, Tapo C420 v1.0/1.20, Tapo C425 v1.0/1.20 |
| Hardware Versions | TP-Link names specific hardware versions for two of the three cameras — C420 v1.0/1.20 and C425 v1.0/1.20. Check the version on your camera label; other versions are not published as supported |
| Cameras Per Panel | One. A solar panel can only connect to one camera |
| Camera Port Required | Micro USB. The A200's output is Micro USB and no port adapter is published as included |
| Tapo App | The camera is managed in the Tapo app for Android and iOS. The panel has no network connection and does not appear as its own device |
| Tapo Hub | Not required by the panel. Whether a hub is needed depends on the camera |
| Voice Control (Google Assistant / Alexa) | Not applicable to the panel. Voice control is a camera function where TP-Link publishes it for that camera |
| Storage (microSD / Tapo Care Cloud) | Not applicable — the panel stores no video |
| Battery Still Required | Yes. The panel charges the camera's battery, it does not replace it. A Tapo A100 spare pack is a separate item |

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo A200
What is the difference between the A200 and the A201?
Size, output and connector. The A200 is 237.96 x 174.85 x 17.5 mm with a Micro USB output on one fixed 4 m cable, published at 5.2 V maximum and 4.5 W maximum charging power. The A201 is smaller at 173.42 x 120.42 x 15.7 mm, has a Type-C output with a Micro USB adapter in the box, is published at 2.5 W maximum charging power, and names a different set of cameras.
Which cameras does the A200 work with?
TP-Link publishes: Tapo C400, Tapo C420 v1.0/1.20 and Tapo C425 v1.0/1.20. Note the named hardware versions. This list is the A200's own — the A201 publishes a different one.
Can one panel power two cameras?
No. TP-Link states a solar panel can only connect to one camera. Two cameras need two panels.
How much sun does it need in Singapore?
TP-Link's reference figure is 30 minutes of sunlight per day, measured at 1000 W/m2 and 25 C under AM1.5 conditions with 100 triggered events per day, and it states that actual required sunlight time may vary. Real charging depends on siting, shade and weather, so mount it where it gets genuine direct sun rather than reflected light.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
One year local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every order. Note that if you also buy a Tapo A100 battery pack, batteries carry a shorter six-month term.
