PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link 10/100 Mbps WDM Media Converter (TL-FC111B-20) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-FC111B-20 is the "B" half of TP-Link's 20 km Fast Ethernet WDM pair, transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1550 nm across a single single-mode strand. It is the unit that completes a TL-FC111A-20 link, delivering a 10/100 Mbps copper port at the far end of a long fibre run.

A 100 Mbps Link Across Twenty Kilometres

Wavelength Division Multiplexing carries both directions of the link on one strand by using different wavelengths in each direction. The TL-FC111B-20 sends at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm over 9/125 µm single-mode fibre terminated in SC/UPC, with a published reach of 20 km (12.4 miles). For a remote gatehouse, a perimeter camera, a pumping station or a satellite office, that is the whole link: one strand and two small converters.

One Strand Instead of Two

Conventional fibre pairs consume two strands per link. On leased dark fibre the difference shows up on the monthly invoice; in a building riser it shows up as the point at which no more links can be added without new cabling. A WDM pair halves that consumption for the same link, which is why it is usually the right specification for anything crossing a boundary someone else controls.

Flow Control and Auto-Negotiation on the Copper Side

The RJ45 port is 10/100 Mbps and Auto MDI/MDIX, negotiating half or full duplex with whatever is plugged in. TP-Link publishes IEEE 802.3x full-duplex flow control and backpressure for half duplex, which is what keeps a burst from a faster device being silently discarded when the two ends have different buffering. There is nothing to configure: the converter adapts rather than requiring settings to be matched by hand.

Confirm the Wavelength Before Ordering

WDM converters are directional and sold individually. This is the B unit: 1310 nm transmit, 1550 nm receive. The far end must be an A unit doing the reverse at the same distance rating, and TP-Link states this model operates as a pair with the TL-FC111A-20. Two B units will not bring a link up. If you are adding to an existing installation, send us the model already on site and we will confirm the correct partner.

Ideal For

Singapore integrators running 100 Mbps links to cameras, gates, car parks and remote plant rooms over single-mode fibre, businesses connecting a satellite building to the main site, and IT teams completing an existing TL-FC111A-20 installation. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Specifications are reproduced from TP-Link's published TL-FC111B-20 page. TP-Link prints the dimensions twice on that page, as 95 x 73 x 27 mm and as 94.5 x 73 x 27 mm; the first is shown above and the discrepancy is noted rather than resolved. No maximum power consumption, EAN or carton pack size is published for this model, so none is stated here.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-FC111B-20

Which unit goes at the other end?

One that transmits at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm. TP-Link states this model operates as a pair with the TL-FC111A-20. Two B units will not link to each other.

How is this different from the TL-FC111PB-20?

The TL-FC111PB-20 shares the same wavelengths and 20 km reach but adds PoE output on its copper port, so it can power a camera or access point at the far end. This model does not supply power.

Can it be managed from the Omada Controller?

No, and it cannot be adopted into one. The converter is unmanaged and transparent, and does not appear in Omada SDN.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for media converters. Every TL-FC111B-20 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Is stock held locally?

Availability on this model is limited. Ask us to confirm current stock and lead time before you commit to a project date, and we can quote an equivalent current model if the timing does not work.
