PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 10GBase-SR SFP+ LC Transceiver (SM5110-SR) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SM5110-SR is the short-reach workhorse of the Omada 10G optics range: an 850 nm multi-mode SFP+ transceiver that carries a full-duplex 10 Gbps link up to 300 m on OM3 fibre. Inside a building — rack to rack, floor to floor, comms room to server room — it is the straightforward way to light a 10G uplink on multi-mode cabling that is already in the ceiling.
Three Hundred Metres of Multi-Mode Reach at Full 10 Gbps
TP-Link rates the SM5110-SR at 300 m over OM3 50/125 µm fibre. On older 62.5/125 µm multi-mode the published figure is 33 m, which is worth checking before you specify a run in an older building — the grade of the installed fibre, not the module, sets the ceiling. Within those limits the link runs at the full 10 Gbps data rate, conforming to IEEE 802.3ae and SFF-8472, with no step-down for distance.
The Economical Choice Where Single-Mode Is Overkill
Multi-mode optics and multi-mode fibre cost less than their single-mode equivalents, and for in-building distances there is no performance reason to pay for 1310 nm single-mode reach you will never use. Most Singapore office and campus risers are already cabled with OM3 or OM4, which makes the SM5110-SR the default rather than the compromise. Where a run genuinely exceeds 300 m, the TL-SM5110-LR single-mode module is the right step up.
DDM, SFP-MSA Compliance and Hot Swapping
The module supports Digital Diagnostic Monitoring, so a host switch that reads DDM can report live optical transmit and receive power, temperature and supply voltage — the difference between spotting a dirty connector as a downward trend and finding it as an outage. It is SFP-MSA compliant and hot-swappable, so it seats in any standard SFP+ cage and can be changed in a live chassis. Power comes from the host's 3.3 V rail.
Built for Omada 10G Switching
TP-Link positions the SM5110-SR for use with switches carrying 10G SFP+ ports, naming the SG3428X and SG3428XMP among them. That covers the aggregation and access-pro tiers of the Omada switching range, where the SFP+ cages are the uplink path back to the core. The LC duplex connector uses one strand for transmit and one for receive, in the standard arrangement any structured multi-mode patch lead expects.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses lighting 10G uplinks between floors, risers and server rooms over existing OM3 multi-mode fibre, and IT teams building Omada aggregation layers where runs stay comfortably inside 300 m. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support
The SM5110-SR is a passive optical module. It carries no firmware or licence of its own and is not adopted into an Omada controller — the host switch owns the port.
| Form Factor | SFP+ footprint, SFP-MSA compliant, hot-pluggable |
| Host Port Required | A 10G SFP+ port. TP-Link names the SG3428X and SG3428XMP among suitable switches |
| Fibre Required | 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode, LC duplex |
| Link Partner | A matching 10GBase-SR 850 nm multi-mode transceiver at the far end |
| Omada SDN Controller | Not applicable — the host Omada switch reports the port under the controller as usual |
| Diagnostics | DDM per SFF-8472, readable from a host that supports it |
Multi-mode and single-mode optics are not interchangeable: an SR module will not link to an LR module. If your switch is not one of the models TP-Link names, send us the part number and we will confirm the supported module list before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions — SM5110-SR
How far will it actually reach?
300 m on OM3 50/125 µm multi-mode fibre. On older 62.5/125 µm fibre TP-Link publishes 33 m. Check which grade is installed before you commit to a run length.
What is the difference between this and the TL-SM5110-LR?
This is 850 nm multi-mode for in-building distances; the TL-SM5110-LR is 1310 nm single-mode and reaches 10 km. They are not interchangeable and will not link to each other.
Which switches does TP-Link name for it?
TP-Link cites switches with 10G SFP+ ports such as the SG3428X and SG3428XMP. If your switch is not on that short list, ask us and we will check the module list for that platform.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty tier covering SFP+/SFP modules and cables. Every SM5110-SR sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
