PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada MiniGBIC Module (TL-SM311LM) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The TL-SM311LM is TP-Link's multi-mode Gigabit SFP module: an 850 nm transceiver with an LC port, rated for 550 m on 50/125 µm fibre. It is the in-building counterpart to the single-mode SM311LS — the module you fit when the fibre run stays inside one site and the cabling already installed in the riser is multi-mode.
Five Hundred and Fifty Metres on Multi-Mode Fibre
TP-Link publishes two figures for this module, and the difference is the fibre in your ceiling. On 50/125 µm multi-mode the range is up to 550 m; on older 62.5/125 µm multi-mode it is up to 275 m. Either way the link runs at the full 1.25 Gbps under IEEE 802.3z. Before specifying a run, check which grade was installed — in older Singapore commercial buildings 62.5 µm is still common, and it halves the usable distance.
Multi-Mode Economics for In-Building Links
Multi-mode optics and multi-mode patch leads cost less than their single-mode equivalents, and for a riser or inter-rack hop there is no reason to buy 20 km of reach you will never use. The TL-SM311LM covers the distances a single building actually presents — comms room to server room, ground floor to fifth, one end of a warehouse to the other — at the lower price point, on cabling that is probably already terminated.
Works With JetStream Switches and TP-Link Media Converters
TP-Link states the module is compatible with the SFP ports on its own products, including JetStream switches and the MC220L media converter, and notes it works with the MC200CM over a multi-mode fibre connection. That makes it useful on both sides of a converter-based link, not only in a switch cage. It uses an LC/UPC port on 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode fibre.
Compact, Bus-Powered and Rated for the Comms Room
The module measures 55.4 x 13.7 x 12.9 mm and draws its 3.3 V supply from the host port, so there is nothing to power and nothing to mount. It is rated 0–70 °C operating and -40–80 °C storage, with 10–90% operating humidity non-condensing — commercial figures suited to a ventilated comms room. FCC and CE marks apply.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses lighting Gigabit fibre links inside a building over existing multi-mode cabling, and IT teams pairing JetStream switches with TP-Link media converters across a riser or a yard. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Specifications as published by TP-Link for the TL-SM311LM. The page does not publish a DDM row for this model, so none is claimed here. Figures are not carried across from the single-mode SM311LS or from other modules in the range.
Compatibility & Software Support
The TL-SM311LM is a passive optical module. It has no firmware or licence of its own and is not adopted into an Omada controller — the host device owns the port.
| Form Factor | SFP footprint, hot-pluggable |
| Host Port Required | A Gigabit SFP port. TP-Link states compatibility with the SFP ports on its own products, including JetStream switches and the MC220L media converter |
| Also Works With | MC200CM media converter, over a multi-mode fibre connection |
| Fibre Required | 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode, LC/UPC |
| Link Partner | A matching 850 nm multi-mode Gigabit transceiver at the far end |
| Omada SDN Controller | Not applicable — the host Omada switch reports the port under the controller as usual |
Multi-mode and single-mode optics are not interchangeable: a TL-SM311LM will not link to the single-mode SM311LS. If your switch is not a TP-Link model, send us the part number and we will confirm the supported module list before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SM311LM
Is it 550 m or 275 m?
Both figures are TP-Link's, for different fibre. 550 m applies to 50/125 µm multi-mode; 275 m applies to 62.5/125 µm. Check which grade is installed before you plan the run.
How does it differ from the SM311LS?
The TL-SM311LM is 850 nm multi-mode for in-building distances. The SM311LS is 1310 nm single-mode and reaches 20 km. They are not interchangeable and will not link to each other.
Can I use it with a media converter?
Yes. TP-Link names the MC220L among compatible products and states it works with the MC200CM over multi-mode fibre.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty tier covering SFP+/SFP modules and cables. Every TL-SM311LM sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
