Cost-Effective 10G Over Single-Mode
The NETGEAR AXM764 is a 10GBASE-LR Lite SFP+ transceiver that drives 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 2 km (1.2 miles) over legacy 9/125 µm single-mode fibre. It suits campus and inter-building links that do not need the full 10 km reach of 10GBASE-LR.
Interoperates with AXM762
NETGEAR notes that 10GBASE-LR Lite is not yet a formal standard, but the AXM764 can interoperate with the AXM762 (10GBASE-LR) as long as the distance does not exceed 2 km. It operates at 1310 nm with a standard LC duplex connector.
Low Power, Hot-Swappable
Maximum power consumption is 1.1 W and NETGEAR rates the MTBF at 2,310,000 hours. The module is RoHS compliant, FDA/CDRH and IEC 60825 safety certified, hot-swappable, and automatically detected by NETGEAR switches.

Supported Switches
NETGEAR states the AXM764 fits the standard SFP+ interfaces of the M5300, M6100, M7100 and M7300 series managed switches, and that select Smart and Plus switches also accept 10 Gigabit SFP+ transceivers. It is also listed in the NETGEAR M7100 series datasheet module ordering table. Please confirm your switch model with us before ordering.
Interoperability
Per NETGEAR, the AXM764 can link to an AXM762 (10GBASE-LR) at the far end as long as the link is no longer than 2 km. For links beyond 2 km, use AXM762 modules at both ends.
Software
No drivers or software are needed — NETGEAR switches detect the module automatically.
For very short 10G links between adjacent racks, NETGEAR direct attach cables are an alternative to a pair of optics: AXC761-10000S (1 m) and AXC763-10000S (3 m).
