10G Over Legacy Multimode Fibre
The NETGEAR AXM763 is a 10GBASE-LRM (IEEE 802.3aq) SFP+ transceiver built for existing multimode cabling. It carries 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 220 m over 62.5/125 µm OM1/OM2 fibre — far beyond the 33 m that 10GBASE-SR manages on the same legacy fibre.
Up to 260 m on OM3/OM4
On 50/125 µm OM3/OM4 multimode fibre, NETGEAR's current datasheets rate the AXM763 up to 260 m (853 ft). It operates at 1310 nm with a standard LC duplex connector.
Reliable, Hot-Swappable
Power consumption is under 1.5 W and NETGEAR rates the MTBF at 966,837 hours. The module is RoHS compliant, a Class 1 laser product, and can be inserted or removed while the switch is operational.

Supported Switches
NETGEAR states the AXM763 fits the standard SFP+ interfaces of the M4300, M5300, M7100 and M7300 series managed switches, and the SFP+ interfaces of select Smart and Plus switches. It is also listed in the NETGEAR M4250 datasheet and hardware installation guide and the M7100 datasheet. Please confirm your switch model with us before ordering.
Cabling
Use a multimode LC-to-LC duplex fibre cable. 10GBASE-LRM is the NETGEAR option for 10G over older OM1/OM2 fibre where the AXM761 (10GBASE-SR) is limited to 33 m.
Software
No drivers or software are needed — NETGEAR switches detect the module automatically.
For very short 10G links between adjacent racks, NETGEAR direct attach cables are an alternative to a pair of modules: AXC761-10000S (1 m) and AXC763-10000S (3 m).
