Colour light output and white light output are both 7,300 lumens, rising to 7,900 lumens measured at the centre of the image. That is enough to hold a large screen in a university auditorium, a hotel function room or a corporate town hall with the house lights up. Epson's 3LCD engine produces colour brightness equal to white brightness, so branded graphics, charts and photography stay saturated rather than fading under ambient light. Dynamic contrast is rated at over 5,000,000:1, which keeps dark video content from flattening out on a big screen.
Native WUXGA with 1.6x Zoom and Generous Lens Shift
The EB-L790U projects native WUXGA at 1920 x 1200 in 16:10, giving extra vertical space over Full HD for spreadsheets, documents and drawings. A 1.6x optical zoom covers a throw ratio of 1.35 to 2.20, filling screens from 50 to 500 inches; an 80-inch image needs 2.33 to 3.78 metres. Lens shift of plus or minus 50 percent vertically and plus or minus 20 percent horizontally means the projector rarely has to sit on the screen centreline, which usually gives a cleaner result than digital correction.
Built-in Wireless LAN and HDBaseT for Fixed Installations
Wireless LAN is built in, so presenters can connect without a cable and without an add-on adapter. Two HDMI inputs and one HDBaseT input, all HDCP 2.3, take room PCs, media servers, conferencing codecs or a single long Cat 6 run from a remote source rack — the usual approach in a large venue. The laser diode light source is rated at 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in Extended mode, and the electrostatic air filter carries exactly the same maintenance cycle.
