APC NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced Metered 3Phase
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced, Metered, 0U, 3 Phase, 43.5kW 400V 63A or 34.6kW 415V 60A, 42 Outlets, IEC 309 (APDU10450ME) - 3 Years Local Warranty
43.5kW of Three-Phase Rack Power With Billing-Grade Metering
The APC NetShelter Rack PDU Advanced Metered (APDU10450ME) is a 0U three-phase strip for high-density racks. Schneider's full product name states the capability exactly: 43.5 kW at 400 V, or 34.6 kW at 415 V, 63 A or 60 A respectively, with 42 outlets, on an IEC 309 input.
This is a genuinely large PDU - the input is an IEC 60309 60 A 3P+N+PE (560P6) connector on a captive 1.8 m cord, with an input limit of 60 A and a line rating of 48 A after the standard 80% derate. It belongs in a compute or colocation cabinet, not a comms rack.
Metering Accurate Enough to Bill From
The unit measures volts, amps, kW and kWh to ±1% accuracy - the threshold at which measurements are usable for cost allocation and cross-charging, not merely for capacity planning. For colocation operators, shared-tenancy buildings and any organisation that has to attribute power cost to a department or a customer, that accuracy is the reason to buy an Advanced unit rather than a standard metered one.
Readings appear on an interactive colour LCD at the rack and over the network.
42 Outlets, Including 21 Universal 4-in-1 Receptacles
Outlet provision is 42: twenty-one universal receptacles that accept C13, C15, C19 or C21 plugs, plus twenty-one C13/C15 receptacles. The universal outlets remove the usual planning headache of guessing how many C19 positions a rack will eventually need - a single outlet takes either a light or a heavy IEC lead.
Outlets are alternating-phase and colour-coded, which makes balancing load across phases a matter of following the colours rather than counting positions on a diagram. Circuit breaker protection is provided.
Built-In Network Management, Daisy-Chaining and 60°C Operation
Network management is integral: Web and SNMP access over a Gigabit Ethernet port, with a secondary 10/100 port that allows up to 32 PDUs to be daisy-chained behind a single network connection - a real saving in switch ports across a row of cabinets. EcoStruxure IT is supported, and two environmental sensor ports are provided.
The unit is rated for operation up to 60 °C at full load, which matters in hot-aisle positions and in Singapore data halls running elevated set points. Note that, like every APC Rack PDU, it has no surge protection - Schneider states this for the whole range - so upstream conditioning must come from the UPS or a dedicated surge protective device.

Compatibility & Load Planning
Check the electrical supply first. This unit takes an IEC 60309 60 A 3P + N + PE (560P6) input at 400 V or 415 V, on a captive 1.8 m cord. That is a substantial three-phase feed and it must exist at the rack position before the PDU is of any use. Input limit is 60 A with a 48 A line rating after the conventional 80% derate. Have your electrical contractor confirm the socket type, the circuit rating and the cord reach from the socket to the rack position before ordering.
What plugs into the outlets. Forty-two outlets in two groups: twenty-one universal 4-in-1 receptacles that accept C13, C15, C19 or C21 plugs, and twenty-one C13/C15 receptacles. The universal positions are the useful ones - a heavy C20-terminated server lead and a light C14 lead both fit the same outlet, so you do not have to predict your C19 count years in advance. Outlets alternate phase and are colour-coded to make balancing straightforward.
Balancing the load. Outlets alternate phase and are colour-coded, so follow the colour coding when populating the rack, then check the measured figures on the colour LCD or over the network rather than assuming. An unbalanced three-phase rack can trip a phase while the cabinet's total draw still looks well within capacity. Schneider does not publish the metering granularity for this model beyond volts, amps, kW and kWh at ±1% - ask SourceIT if you need per-phase reporting confirmed for a cost-allocation application.
Rack fit. 0U vertical, side-mounted, 1,826 mm long, 56 mm wide and 75 mm deep, 11.7 kg. Because it is 0U it uses no usable rack units, but at over 1.8 m it needs a full-height cabinet with the internal clearance to take it. Check the strip length against your cabinet's internal height; it will not fit a short or wallmount enclosure.
Networking. Management is built in - there is no card to add, and APC UPS Network Management Cards such as the AP9640 and AP9641 are not used with rack PDUs. Access is over Web and SNMP on a Gigabit Ethernet port, with EcoStruxure IT supported. The secondary 10/100 port lets up to 32 PDUs share one network connection, which is worth planning for at the row level rather than cabinet by cabinet.
Environmental sensing. Two sensor ports are provided. Ask SourceIT to confirm the exact sensor part number Schneider supports on this model before ordering, since the Advanced range does not necessarily use the same sensor as the AP8000 series.
Metered, not switched. This unit measures load; it does not switch outlets on and off remotely. If remote power cycling is a requirement, that is a Switched model. The nearest three-phase option is the EPDU1232S at 22 kW and 24 outlets - half the capacity of this unit - and for a single-phase cabinet the AP7921B at 3.7 kW with eight C13 outlets and no C19. Neither is a like-for-like substitute; specify on the capacity your rack actually needs.
No surge protection. Schneider states plainly that APC Rack PDUs do not include built-in surge protection and are designed for distribution rather than conditioning. Feed the rack from a UPS or fit a dedicated upstream surge protective device.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC APDU10450ME
What is the actual capacity and input rating of this PDU?
43.5 kW at 400 V, or 34.6 kW at 415 V, through an IEC 60309 60 A 3P + N + PE (560P6) input on a captive 1.8 m cord. Schneider's product name gives the current as 63 A at 400 V and 60 A at 415 V; the connector and input limit are 60 A, with a 48 A line rating after the standard 80% derate. Ask your electrical contractor to size the circuit against those figures.
What does "Advanced Metered" mean, and how is it different from a standard metered PDU?
Two things: accuracy and interface. The Advanced range meters volts, amps, kW and kWh to ±1%, which is billing-grade - accurate enough to allocate power cost to a tenant or a department. It also carries an interactive colour LCD, Gigabit networking with daisy-chaining for up to 32 PDUs, and a longer warranty. A standard metered unit such as the AP8853 meters to ±3% and carries a 2-year term.
Can I switch outlets on and off remotely?
No. This is a metered PDU: it measures load but does not switch outlets. For remote power cycling you want a Switched model - the EPDU1232S in three-phase, or the AP7921B for a single-phase cabinet.
What are the "4-in-1" universal outlets?
Twenty-one of the 42 outlets accept a C13, C15, C19 or C21 plug in the same position. That removes the need to predict how many heavy C19 loads a rack will carry over its life - a light server lead and a heavy blade chassis lead both fit. The other twenty-one outlets are C13/C15. All outlets are alternating-phase and colour-coded to help you balance the rack.
Does it have surge protection?
No, and no APC Rack PDU does. Schneider's own FAQ states that APC Rack PDUs do not include built-in surge protection because they are designed for power distribution rather than power conditioning or surge suppression. Protect the load by feeding the rack from a UPS, or by fitting a dedicated surge protective device upstream.
Will it physically fit my rack?
It is a 0U vertical strip, 1,826 mm long, 56 mm wide, 75 mm deep, weighing 11.7 kg. It consumes no usable rack units but needs a full-height cabinet with a vertical channel deep enough to take it. It will not fit a short cabinet or a wallmount enclosure. It is also rated to operate at up to 60 °C at full load, which suits hot-aisle mounting and data halls running elevated set points.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APC APDU10450ME sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the APDU10450ME with a 3-year manufacturer warranty. That is a year longer than the standard Rack PDU term - Schneider's warranty policy places Advanced Rack PDUs on a 3-year repair-or-replace term where Basic, Metered and Switched Rack PDUs carry 2 years.
