APC Smart-UPS C 3000VA LCD 230V
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Smart-UPS C, Line Interactive, 3000VA / 2100W, Tower, 230V (SMC3000I) - 2 Years Local Warranty
3000 VA / 2100 W Sine Wave UPS for Server Rooms and Heavier Office Loads
The APC Smart-UPS C SMC3000I is the largest tower in the Smart-UPS C range: 3000 VA and 2100 W of true sine wave output with Automatic Voltage Regulation. At that rating it comfortably carries a small rack of servers, a storage array, or a full comms cabinet's switching and routing. Output distortion stays under 5% at full load, so active-PFC server power supplies see the clean waveform they are designed for.
AVR Corrects Singapore Mains Without Cycling the Battery
Singapore runs on 230 V, 50 Hz mains, and the day-to-day threat to equipment here is rarely a full blackout — it is the sag when a PUB feeder is switched, the brownout during a storm, and the surge that follows. Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects those without touching the battery, which is why an AVR unit's batteries last longer in service than a cheaper standby UPS's do in the same building. The SMC3000I accepts input from 180 to 287 V, adjustable from 170 to 300 V, and holds the output steady across that whole range using the transformer rather than the battery.
Eight C13 Outlets Plus a C19 — All Battery-Backed
You get eight IEC C13 outlets and one IEC C19, every one of them on battery backup. The C19 takes a C20-terminated cord for a heavier single load such as a blade chassis or a downstream PDU. The unit is fed through an IEC C20 inlet, and at 3000 VA a dedicated circuit is not optional — plan the electrical work with the install.
Floor-Standing Tower with Graphic LCD and a Genuine APC Cartridge
The SMC3000I is a substantial tower at 435 × 197 × 544 mm and 43 kg net, intended to sit on the floor of a server room or comms cupboard rather than on a desk. The multifunction graphic LCD gives load, runtime and input voltage without a laptop, and the battery is a genuine APC APCRBC150 cartridge, user-replaceable when it reaches end of life. For a rack, the equivalent is the SMC3000RMI2U.

Specifications We Have Not Published
Schneider Electric does not publish a transfer time, a battery VAh figure, an input current or a battery bus voltage on the SMC3000I data sheet, so none is stated here. UL and cUL are not on the certification list for this 230 V IEC model and are not claimed. The Smart-UPS C series takes no external battery pack, so no extended-runtime option exists for this model. Where Schneider Electric does not publish a figure for this exact model, SourceIT leaves it out rather than estimate it from a similar part number.
Compatibility & Runtime
All nine outlets — eight IEC C13 and one IEC C19 — are battery-backed. There are no surge-only sockets to work around.
Sizing. Size against 2100 W, not 3000 VA. Total the nameplate watts of your load and aim to stay below about 1680 W — 80% of capacity — so you keep headroom for inrush and for battery ageing. Schneider publishes no runtime table for this model, so ask us rather than work from a figure found elsewhere.
Input. IEC C20 inlet. At 3000 VA plan a dedicated circuit; sharing a general office ring at this rating invites nuisance tripping.
Form factor. Tower, 435 × 197 × 544 mm and 43 kg — a floor-standing unit. The rack equivalent is the SMC3000RMI2U.
Management. This model has no SmartSlot. An internal APC network management card such as the AP9640 or AP9641 cannot be fitted to any Smart-UPS C unit — management is over the bundled USB or serial port to a host running APC PowerChute software. If you need SNMP or web management in the rack, choose a Smart-UPS SMT or SMX model with a SmartSlot, or a Smart-UPS C SmartConnect model with a built-in Ethernet port.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC SMC3000I
What is the difference between 3000 VA and 2100 W, and which matters?
Watts is the one that limits you. VA is apparent power, W is real power, and modern IT loads will reach the 2100 W ceiling well before the 3000 VA figure means anything. Total your nameplate watts and stay under roughly 1680 W to leave 20% headroom for inrush and battery ageing.
How long will it run for?
Schneider Electric publishes no runtime table for the SMC3000I, so we will not quote one. Runtime is highly non-linear in load — halving the load far more than doubles the minutes. Send us your load in watts and the runtime you need and we will size it.
Is the output a true sine wave, and is it safe for active-PFC power supplies?
Yes. True sine wave output with less than 5% distortion at full load, which is what active-PFC server supplies require. Step-approximated output found on Back-UPS and Easy UPS models can cause those supplies to drop the load or run hot — that is the practical reason to buy Smart-UPS rather than Back-UPS for server equipment.
Which replacement battery cartridge does it take?
The genuine APC APCRBC150. It is user-replaceable, with 3 to 5 years of expected service life — shorter in a warm room, and Singapore ambient conditions are unforgiving on sealed lead-acid. Plan the swap into a maintenance window and follow the APC user guide.
Can I add a network management card or an external battery pack?
Neither. And the Smart-UPS C series takes no external battery pack, so runtime is fixed by the internal battery.
Should I buy this or the rackmount SMC3000RMI2U?
Same electronics, same 3000 VA / 2100 W, same outlet count. The choice is physical: this tower is 435 × 197 × 544 mm and stands on the floor, while the SMC3000RMI2U is 2U of rack space but 670 mm deep and ships with mounting brackets rather than rails. Check your cabinet depth before choosing the rack build.
How does it compare with the 2000 VA SMC2000I?
The SMC2000I gives 1300 W and six C13 outlets in a much smaller 27.5 kg tower. This unit adds 800 W of headroom and two more C13 outlets. If your measured load is above about 1000 W, or you expect it to grow, take the 3000 VA.
Is the warranty valid in Singapore, and do I get a GST invoice?
Yes. Every APC SMC3000I sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SMC3000I with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
