The APC Smart-UPS C SMC2000I delivers 2000 VA and 1300 W of true sine wave output from a line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation. Sine wave output matters more than the datasheet line suggests: active-PFC power supplies in modern servers, workstations and NAS units can drop out or run hot on a step-approximated waveform, and the SMC series avoids that problem entirely with less than 5% output distortion at full load.
AVR Rides Out PUB Voltage Dips Without Draining the Battery
Singapore runs on 230 V, 50 Hz mains, and the day-to-day threat to equipment here is rarely a full blackout — it is the sag when a PUB feeder is switched, the brownout during a storm, and the surge that follows. Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects those without touching the battery, which is why an AVR unit's batteries last longer in service than a cheaper standby UPS's do in the same building. The SMC2000I accepts input from 180 to 287 V, adjustable down to 170 V and up to 300 V, and corrects within that window using the transformer rather than the battery.
Six C13 Outlets Plus a C19 for a Heavier Load
The SMC2000I gives you six IEC C13 outlets and one IEC C19 outlet, all of them battery-backed — there are no surge-only sockets on this model. The C19 is the useful one: it takes a higher-current C20-terminated cord, so a blade chassis, a larger switch or a second PDU can be fed from the UPS directly. The unit itself is fed by an IEC C20 inlet, so plan for a matching cord and, at this rating, a dedicated circuit is the sensible choice.
Tower Format, Graphic LCD, Genuine APC Battery
This is a 0U tower — 216 mm high, 170 mm wide, 440 mm deep and 27.5 kg — designed to sit beside or under a desk, or on the floor of a comms cupboard. It is not rack-mountable; for a rack, choose the SMC2000I-2U instead. The multifunction graphic LCD reports load, runtime and input voltage at a glance, and the battery is a genuine APC APCRBC148 cartridge that you can order from us when it reaches end of life.

Schneider Electric does not publish a transfer time, a battery VAh figure, an input current or a battery bus voltage on the SMC2000I data sheet, so none is stated here. UL and cUL are not on the certification list for this 230 V IEC model and are not claimed. The Smart-UPS C series takes no external battery pack, so no extended-runtime option exists for this model. Compatibility & Runtime
Everything on this UPS is battery-backed — six IEC C13 outlets and one IEC C19 — so you do not have to work out which sockets are surge-only. The C19 accepts a C20-terminated cord for a heavier single load.
Sizing. The 1300 W figure is the real constraint, not the 2000 VA. Add up the nameplate watts of everything you intend to plug in and keep the total below about 80% of 1300 W — roughly 1040 W — to leave headroom for inrush and for battery ageing. Schneider publishes no runtime table for this model, so we will not quote minutes; tell us your actual load and target runtime and we will size it.
Input. The unit takes an IEC C20 inlet. At 2000 VA a dedicated circuit is the sensible choice rather than sharing a general office ring.
Form factor. Tower only, 216 × 170 × 440 mm. It is not rack-mountable and there is no rail kit for it — the rack build is the separate SMC2000I-2U.
Management. This model has no SmartSlot. Frequently Asked Questions — APC SMC2000I
What is the difference between 2000 VA and 1300 W, and which should I size against?
Size against the watts. VA is apparent power and W is real power; the UPS will hit its 1300 W ceiling long before the 2000 VA figure becomes relevant for modern IT loads. Total the nameplate watts of your equipment and aim to stay under roughly 1040 W, leaving 20% headroom for inrush and for the battery losing capacity as it ages.
How long will it run for?
Schneider Electric does not publish a runtime table for the SMC2000I, so we will not invent one. Runtime falls away sharply as load rises — a unit at 30% load runs far more than three times as long as one at 90%. Send us your load in watts and the minutes you need and we will size it against the real curve.
Is the output a true sine wave? Will it work with an active-PFC power supply?
Yes to both. The SMC2000I produces a true sine wave with less than 5% distortion at full load, which is exactly what active-PFC server and workstation supplies need. Step-approximated output — common on Back-UPS and Easy UPS models — can cause those supplies to drop the load or run hot, which is the main reason to step up to a Smart-UPS.
Which replacement battery does it take, and can I change it myself?
The genuine APC cartridge is the APCRBC148, and it is user-replaceable. Expect 3 to 5 years of service life, less in a warm cupboard — Singapore ambient temperatures are hard on sealed lead-acid. Follow the APC user guide procedure and plan the swap into a maintenance window.
Can I fit a network management card for SNMP monitoring?
This model has no SmartSlot. An internal APC network management card such as the AP9640 or AP9641 cannot be fitted to any Smart-UPS C unit — management is over the bundled USB or serial port to a host running APC PowerChute software. The SMC3000I steps up to 3000 VA / 2100 W and adds two more C13 outlets, at 435 × 197 × 544 mm and 43 kg against this unit's 27.5 kg. If your load is close to 1000 W today and likely to grow, the 3000 VA is the safer buy.
Is the warranty valid in Singapore, and do I get a GST invoice?
