APC Smart-UPS C 1000VA LCD 230V with SmartConnect
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Smart-UPS C 1000VA LCD 230V with SmartConnect (SMC1000IC) - 2 Years Local Warranty
Clean 1000VA Sine-Wave Backup Power for Singapore's 230 V / 50 Hz Mains
The APC SMC1000IC is a line-interactive UPS rated at 1000VA / 600 W and built for the 230 V, 50 Hz supply used across Singapore. It rides through the brief sags, brownouts and switching transients that follow afternoon thunderstorms and PUB grid events without touching the battery, because Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects mains voltage electronically over an input window of 180 – 287 V. The battery is only called on when the supply falls outside that window, so cycle count stays low and the cartridge lasts longer in our year-round heat and humidity.
True Sine Wave Output for Servers, NAS and Active-PFC Power Supplies
Schneider Electric specifies sine wave output for the SMC1000IC, not a step-approximated or simulated wave. That matters if you are protecting rack servers, a NAS, a firewall, PoE switches or any modern workstation, because active power-factor-corrected supplies can shut down or run hot on a stepped waveform. Transfer to battery takes 6 ms typically and 10 ms at most — comfortably inside the hold-up time of a standard ATX or server PSU.
APC SmartConnect: Remote Monitoring Without a Network Card
The trailing “C” in SMC1000IC means APC SmartConnect: a dedicated Ethernet port built into the UPS that reports status, load, battery health and self-test results to the APC SmartConnect cloud portal, with email alerts. You register the unit by scanning its QR code, so there is no management card to buy and configure. Note that this model has no SmartSlot — if you need local SNMP on your own LAN rather than cloud reporting, choose a Smart-UPS SMT model instead. USB and serial ports are fitted for local shutdown signalling.
A Quiet Tower for the SME Office, Home Office and Under-Desk Use
In tower form the SMC1000IC measures 219 × 171 × 439 mm and runs at 41 dBA at 1 metre, quiet enough to sit beside a desk or in a small server room without being intrusive. All outlets are IEC C13, so it suits a small server, a NAS, a router and switch, or a professional workstation — the kind of load that an SME cannot afford to lose mid-transaction.
Bought Locally: GST Invoice, Local Warranty, Stock in Singapore
SourceIT supplies the SMC1000IC as local Singapore stock with a GST invoice and local warranty support, so you are not chasing a grey-import serial number when a battery fails in year two. The replacement battery cartridge is a stocked line item as well, which keeps a mid-life battery swap to a same-week job rather than a special order.

Compatibility & Runtime
What you can plug in
The SMC1000IC provides eight IEC 320 C13 outlets, all on battery backup. Every outlet is on battery backup, so there is no surge-only group to watch out for — but that also means everything you connect draws on the battery, so keep printers, kettles and other non-critical loads off the UPS. Size the connected load against the wattage rating (600 W), not the VA rating.
Input, plug type and circuit
The UPS inlet is an IEC 320 C14, so it takes a standard IEC power cord from a Singapore 13 A outlet or from a rack PDU C13 socket. Mains operating range is 180 – 287 V, adjustable to 170 – 300 V.
Placement
Tower format, 219 × 171 × 439 mm. Leave clearance at the rear for the inlet cord and the cooling vents, and keep it off carpet so airflow underneath is not blocked. This model is not rack-mountable; the 2U rack build of the same platform is a separate part number.
Runtime
Schneider Electric does not publish fixed runtime figures for this model, so we do not quote any. Runtime depends entirely on the connected load: a UPS at 30–40% of its wattage rating will run several times longer than the same unit at full load, and battery age reduces runtime over the cartridge's service life. Tell SourceIT the actual load in watts and the number of minutes you need to shut down cleanly, and we will size it against Schneider's runtime curve for the exact model.
Batteries
The SMC1000IC takes the APCRBC142 replacement battery cartridge (quantity 1), a stocked SourceIT line: APC APCRBC142 Replacement Battery Cartridge. Typical recharge time is 3 hours.
Management and software
APC SmartConnect is built in and is the management route for this model — there is no SmartSlot, so an internal network management card cannot be fitted. USB and serial ports are provided for local shutdown signalling. Schneider confirms PowerChute Serial Shutdown for graceful operating-system shutdown over the serial or USB link on this model.

Network management
This model has no SmartSlot, so an internal management card cannot be added. APC SmartConnect (built in) is the monitoring route. If you need a card-based SNMP solution, the Smart-UPS SMT rackmount range carries a free SmartSlot — ask SourceIT for a like-for-like alternative.
External battery packs
This UPS uses its internal battery only; Schneider does not list an external battery pack option for this model. If you need extended runtime, the APC Smart-UPS On-Line SRT range and the Easy UPS On-Line SRV range accept external battery packs — ask SourceIT for a sizing.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC SMC1000IC
What is the difference between the 1000 VA and the 600 W rating, and how do I size the SMC1000IC?
VA is apparent power and 600 W is the real power the UPS can actually deliver — always size against the watt figure. Add up the wattage of everything you intend to connect (a server nameplate figure is usually well above real draw, so a plug-in power meter gives a better number), then aim to load the UPS to roughly 60–70% of 600 W. That leaves headroom for start-up surges and gives noticeably longer runtime than running it at the limit.
How long will the SMC1000IC run on battery?
Schneider Electric does not publish fixed runtime figures for this model, so we do not quote any. Runtime is a function of load: the lighter the connected load relative to the 600 W rating, the longer it lasts, and runtime shortens as the battery ages. Tell SourceIT your actual load in watts and how many minutes you need for a clean shutdown, and we will check it against Schneider's runtime curve for this exact part number.
What does the “C” at the end of SMC1000IC mean?
The trailing C denotes APC SmartConnect — a built-in Ethernet port for cloud monitoring, registered by scanning the QR code on the unit. Schneider's own product names make the distinction explicit: the build without the C is otherwise the same UPS but has no SmartConnect port, and an “NC” build ships with a network management card pre-installed instead. Note that on this model there is no SmartSlot, so SmartConnect is the management route.
Is the output a true sine wave, and will it work with an active-PFC power supply?
Yes. Schneider Electric specifies sine wave output for the SMC1000IC — not a step-approximated or simulated sine wave, which some entry-level Back-UPS and Easy UPS models use. That makes it suitable for servers, NAS units and workstations with active power-factor-corrected supplies, which can misbehave on a stepped waveform. Output voltage distortion is specified as less than 5%.
Which replacement battery cartridge does the SMC1000IC take, and can I change it myself?
It takes one APCRBC142 cartridge. The cartridge is designed as a user-replaceable part and SourceIT stocks it: APC APCRBC142 Replacement Battery Cartridge. In Singapore's climate we suggest checking battery health annually from about year three and budgeting for a swap rather than waiting for a failed self-test during an outage.
Can the SMC1000IC be rack-mounted?
No — Schneider specifies this part number as a tower unit. The rack build of the same Smart-UPS C platform is a separate part number; see the ordering table above for the 2U rackmount alternatives.
Can I add a network management card for SNMP?
No. Schneider's documentation for this model lists no SmartSlot, so an internal management card cannot be fitted; APC SmartConnect cloud monitoring is the built-in management route. If you need card-based SNMP on your own LAN, the Smart-UPS SMT rackmount range carries a free SmartSlot — ask SourceIT for an alternative.
How does it compare with the SMC1500IC?
The SMC1500IC is rated 1500 VA / 900 W in tower format with (8) C13 + (2) jumpers, against 1000VA / 600 W in tower format on this unit. The electrical platform is shared — same sine wave output, same AVR, same SmartConnect port — so the choice is about capacity and whether you are mounting it in a rack. Compare it here: APC SMC1500IC.
Does the SMC1000IC come with a warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every APC SMC1000IC sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SMC1000IC with a 2-year manufacturer warranty (2 years repair or replace). Registering the unit on the APC SmartConnect portal adds a further year of battery warranty under Schneider's SmartConnect terms.
