PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock (40AU0065UK) - Local Warranty

The Dock With VGA — Which Is Often the Whole Reason to Buy It

The Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock carries HDMI 2.0 and VGA, gigabit Ethernet, three USB ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack, on a 240 mm captive USB-C cable. It is the only dock in this range with a VGA output. If you present into meeting rooms, lecture theatres or client sites that still have VGA projectors — and plenty in Singapore do — that port is the entire argument.

45 W to the Laptop, With a 65 W Adapter Supplied

Lenovo publishes 45 W charging to the laptop from the 65 W USB-C adapter in the box. That is enough for a standard business ultrabook and not enough for a larger machine under load. Our previous version of this page said 60 W; Lenovo says 45 W, and that is what appears here.

156 Grams, and a Genuinely Complete Port Set

180 x 53 x 17 mm and 156 grams excluding the adapter, with HDMI, VGA, gigabit Ethernet, USB-A 3.1 Gen 1, USB-C 3.1 Gen 1, USB 2.0 and a combo audio jack. For a dock this small, having both a modern and a legacy video output plus wired networking is unusual.

Two Things You Should Know Before Ordering

First, the warranty on this model is 1 year, not the 3 years Lenovo gives most of its docks — that is Lenovo's published term and we are not going to hide it. Second, Lenovo's own online store no longer lists this part number for sale, though it continues to publish support documentation and firmware for it. Lenovo has made no end-of-life announcement, so we will not call it discontinued — but if long-term supply matters, ask us before you standardise on it.

Compatibility & Fit

Buy it for the VGA port. Almost nothing else in Lenovo's current docking range has one. If your people present into rooms with VGA projectors, or connect to older KVM switches, laboratory instruments or industrial panels, this dock removes the dongle they otherwise have to remember. Everything newer connects over HDMI.

45 W is the honest limit. The 65 W adapter in the box charges the laptop at 45 W, because the dock keeps a share for its ports. That runs a standard 13- or 14-inch business ultrabook comfortably. A 15-inch machine or a workstation will drain slowly under load. Tell us the laptop model and we will say plainly whether it is enough.

On the 1-year warranty. Lenovo publishes a 1-year CRU warranty for this dock where most of its range carries 3 years. That is a real difference in what you are buying, and it is stated here rather than buried. Every unit SourceIT sells also carries local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice.

On availability. Lenovo continues to publish the support page, service-parts article and firmware downloads for this dock, and has issued no end-of-life or end-of-support notice for it. But its own online store no longer serves a live product page for the part number in any region we checked. We are telling you what we observed rather than asserting a lifecycle status Lenovo has not declared. If you are standardising a fleet on this model, ask us about supply first.

Will it work with my laptop? Lenovo's own wording is that its USB-C and Thunderbolt docks "function with laptops that support industry standard USB-C Alt-Mode, DisplayLink or Thunderbolt protocols through their Type C port". In practice that means most business laptops of the last several years, Lenovo or otherwise. What Lenovo qualifies is the management features: MAC address pass-through, Wake-on-LAN, PXE boot and the mirrored power button work on most ThinkPads and, in Lenovo's words, "may not be available on certain other Lenovo laptops or non-Lenovo branded laptop systems". If those matter to your deployment — and for a managed fleet with imaging over the network they usually do — tell us the laptop models and we will check them before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions — Lenovo USB-C Mini Dock

Does it really have a VGA port?

Yes — HDMI 2.0 and VGA, and it is the only dock in our Lenovo range with VGA. For sites with older projectors, KVM switches or instrumentation, that is usually the deciding feature.

How much does it charge the laptop?

45 W, from the 65 W adapter supplied. Our earlier version of this page said 60 W, which was wrong — Lenovo publishes 45 W. That suits a standard business ultrabook; a larger machine will charge slowly under load.

Why is the warranty only one year?

Because that is what Lenovo publishes for this model — 1 year CRU, where most Lenovo docks carry 3 years. We would rather tell you than let you assume. Every unit we sell also carries local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice.

Is it discontinued?

Lenovo has not said so, and we will not claim it. Lenovo still publishes the support page, the service-parts article and firmware for this dock. What we can tell you as an observation is that Lenovo's own online store no longer serves a live product page for the part number in any region we checked. If you are planning a fleet rollout on this model, talk to us about supply before you commit.

Can it drive two monitors?

Lenovo publishes one display at 4K 60 Hz over HDMI. It has both HDMI and VGA outputs, but Lenovo publishes no dual-display capability for this model, so we do not claim one. If two screens are the requirement, the USB-C Dual Display Travel Dock or the ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock in the ordering table are the models to look at.
