APC AR7701 — the floor-anchoring kit Schneider specifies for NetShelter SX enclosures
The APC AR7701 is the NetShelter SX bolt-down kit from APC by Schneider Electric: a set of steel brackets and mounting hardware that anchors an SX enclosure to a concrete floor. Schneider states it meets UBC Zone-4 seismic anchoring requirements — the toughest zone in the old US Uniform Building Code — which is a higher bar than a Singapore comms room will ever be tested against, and the reason it is specified on data centre and colocation fit-outs.
It matters because Schneider's own installation guidance for its cabinets is blunt: secure the enclosure to the floor before installing equipment. Castors are for positioning, levelling feet take the load, and the brackets stop a loaded 1000 kg rack walking, rocking or tipping when it is bumped by a pallet jack, a trolley or a technician pulling a server out on its rails.
Which cabinets it fits
The AR7701 is designed for the NetShelter SX frame — the AR3100, AR3104 and AR3340 sold on this site and the rest of the SX range. It bolts to the enclosure base and to the floor with the supplied hardware; the concrete anchors themselves are specified for the slab on site. For the Easy Rack ER6202, ER6212 and ER8202, Schneider's guide instead points you to the shipping brackets that held the cabinet to its pallet, which can be reused to bolt the frame down.
How the installation goes
The sequence Schneider describes for its enclosures is the sequence to follow here. Roll the empty cabinet into position on its castors, lower the four levelling feet with a spanner until the castors are clear of the floor and the frame is level and does not rock, then fit the AR7701 brackets to the base of the frame with the supplied hardware. Mark and drill the slab through the bracket holes, fit anchors rated for the floor, and torque them down. Only then bond the frame to the building earth and start loading equipment from the bottom up — UPS and battery packs first, so the centre of gravity stays low.
Where cabinets are bayed in a row, each one still gets its own kit. Baying brackets align cabinets and share cable routes, but Schneider is explicit that they add only limited stability; the floor anchors are what hold a row in place.
Small box, long service
Each bracket is 73 mm high, 70 mm wide and 62 mm deep and the kit weighs 0.68 kg net, 0.92 kg boxed. It carries a 2-year repair-or-replace warranty from Schneider, and in practice it is fitted once and forgotten. Everything SourceIT ships is local Singapore stock with a GST invoice.

NetShelter SX enclosures: the 42U AR3100, the 24U AR3104 and the 750 mm wide AR3340 sold on this site, and the wider SX range. Order one kit per cabinet.
Does not replace
The levelling feet. The cabinet is first levelled on its feet so the castors are clear of the floor, then the brackets are fitted and anchored. For Easy Rack cabinets (ER6202, ER6212, ER8202) use the pallet shipping brackets as Schneider's installation guide describes rather than this kit.
When to specify it
Any rack that will be loaded above a few hundred kilograms, any rack in a room with pallet-jack traffic, any colocation or data centre fit-out with an anchoring requirement, and any rack that carries a rack UPS with battery packs low in the frame — the AR7701 is inexpensive insurance against the one event that writes off a rack of servers.
Raised floors
On a raised access floor the brackets anchor to the floor tile or to a pedestal frame rather than to the slab, and the floor supplier's own anchoring method applies. Tell us whether the room is slab or raised floor when you order and we will advise on the anchor hardware to specify alongside the kit.

Ordering with a cabinet
When the AR7701 is ordered together with an AR3100, AR3104 or AR3340 we ship it inside the cabinet carton so the installer has it to hand on the day the rack is positioned, before any equipment arrives. If the cabinets are already on site, it ships as a small parcel. Either way quote the cabinet part number on the order so we can confirm the fit, and tell us whether the room has a slab or a raised floor so the anchor hardware can be specified at the same time. A GST invoice accompanies every shipment.

Do I really need to bolt a rack down in Singapore?
Schneider says to secure the enclosure to the floor before installing equipment, and it is not about earthquakes. A loaded cabinet is a tall, narrow, 500 to 1000 kg object; pulling a server fully out on its rails shifts the centre of gravity forward, and a knock from a pallet jack does the rest. The AR7701 removes that risk for very little money.
Which racks does the AR7701 fit?
NetShelter SX enclosures — AR3100, AR3104, AR3340 and the rest of the SX family. It is not the part for Easy Rack cabinets, which bolt down using their reusable pallet shipping brackets.
Are the concrete anchors included?
No. The kit contains the brackets, the hardware that fixes them to the cabinet and the installation guide. The floor anchors are chosen for the slab on site by the installer.
How many kits per cabinet?
One kit per enclosure.
What is the seismic rating?
Schneider states the kit meets UBC Zone-4 seismic anchoring requirements. A separate AR7701-S high-seismic kit exists for sites with a specific engineering requirement; for a Singapore comms room the standard AR7701 is the right part.
Can I fit it after the rack is loaded?
It is far easier before. Level the empty cabinet on its feet, fit the brackets, drill and anchor, then load. Retro-fitting to a loaded rack means working under the frame with the weight on the feet.
Will it work on a raised floor?
Yes, but the anchoring goes into the floor tile or pedestal frame rather than the slab, using the method the raised-floor supplier specifies. The brackets themselves are the same; only the anchor hardware changes.
What does the kit weigh and how is it shipped?
