The C19 to C20 Jumper for High-Power Rack Connections
The APC NetShelter Power Cord AP9877 is a 2.0 m IEC 60320 C19 to C20 jumper: a C20 plug for a C19 outlet on a UPS, Rack ATS or PDU, and a C19 connector for the C20 inlet on the device being fed. It is the cord for anything in the rack that runs above the 10 A limit of a C13 - a 16 A PDU hanging off a UPS, a Rack ATS with C20 inlets, a blade chassis, a large storage shelf or a core switch.
Rated for the Full C19/C20 Coupler Capacity
IEC 60320 rates the C19/C20 coupler at 16 A, and that is the figure that applies on a 230 V Singapore installation. Schneider's US listing prints the same coupler's 20 A North American rating. Either way the cord is built for the whole coupler capacity, which is what a 16 A PDU or ATS needs - a C13 cord cannot physically mate with a C20 inlet, and would be under-rated if it could.
2.0 m for UPS-to-PDU and ATS Runs
Two metres covers the typical connection from a UPS's C19 outlet at the bottom of the rack to a zero-U PDU inlet on the rear rail, or from a UPS to a Rack ATS in the next few U. It also reaches from a 1U ATS or PDU to a heavy device further up the same cabinet, with enough slack to route through the cable management.

Where it goes. C20 plug into a C19 outlet; C19 connector into a C20 inlet. Both ends are IEC 60320, so it never touches a wall socket - it lives entirely inside the rack, between APC equipment.
C19 outlets that feed it, from the SourceIT catalogue. UPS: Smart-UPS SRT 3000VA (8 C13, 2 C19 outlets) and Smart-UPS SMT 3000VA rackmount (two C19 outlets each). The classic pairing. Smart-UPS SRT C19 outlet, AP9877, C20-inlet PDU. That puts a whole 16 A PDU behind the UPS with one cord and no adapters. Add a second SRT and an AP4423A ATS in between, with an AP9877 from each UPS into the ATS, and every single-corded device on the PDU gets two sources.
Rating. Plan on 16 A - the IEC 60320 coupler rating and the rating of every 16 A UPS outlet and PDU inlet it will meet in Singapore. The 20 A figure on Schneider's US listing is the same coupler under North American rules, not extra headroom on a 16 A circuit.
IEC Connector Guide
Rack power cords are named by the IEC 60320 coupler on each end. The socket side of a coupler is the odd number and the pin side is the even number, so a C14 plug goes into a C13 outlet and a C19 connector goes onto a C20 inlet.

Not one of these is a BS 1363 (Type G) wall plug. In a Singapore rack the mains connection is normally made once, at the UPS or PDU input, and everything downstream is IEC to IEC.

What is a C19 to C20 jumper for?
Connecting two pieces of rack equipment that both use the 16 A IEC connector: a UPS with C19 outlets to a PDU with a C20 inlet, a UPS to a Rack ATS with C20 inlets, or a PDU or ATS C19 outlet to a server, blade chassis or storage shelf with a C20 inlet. It is the 16 A equivalent of the everyday C13 to C14 cord.
Is it 16 A or 20 A?
Both figures refer to the same IEC 60320 C19/C20 coupler: 16 A under the IEC standard used in Singapore and Europe, 20 A under the North American rating that appears on Schneider's US attribute sheet. On a 230 V Singapore installation, plan on 16 A - that is what the UPS outlet, the PDU inlet and the branch circuit behind them are rated for.
Which APC UPS models have C19 outlets?
In the SourceIT catalogue the Smart-UPS SRT 3000VA (8 C13, 2 C19 outlets) and Smart-UPS SMT 3000VA rackmount each provide two C19 outlets alongside their C13s, and the SBP3000RMI service bypass PDU (6 C13, 1 C19) bypass PDU has one. The Easy UPS On-Line SRV 1 to 3 kVA units use C13 outlets only, so they do not take this cord.
Can I use it to feed the AP4423A Rack ATS?
Yes - that is one of its main jobs. The AP4423A Rack ATS (C20 in, 8 C13 and 1 C19 out) has two C20 inlets. Run an AP9877 from a C19 outlet on each of two independent sources - two UPS units, or a UPS and a bypass PDU - into the two inlets. If a source is a commando socket rather than a C19 outlet, use the AP9876 for that side instead.
What is the difference between this and the AP9878?
The plug end and the rating. The AP9877 has a C20 plug and carries the full 16 A coupler rating. The AP9878 has a C14 plug, so it draws from a C13 outlet and is limited to 10 A - a way to power a C20-inlet device from a C13 outlet when the load is small. Same C19 connector on the equipment end.
Is 2.0 m long enough?
For a UPS-to-PDU or UPS-to-ATS run in the same rack, yes, with slack for routing. For a run between racks, measure the route through the cable tray first and tell us the distance.
Will this plug into a Singapore wall socket?
No. The AP9877 has an IEC C20 plug and an IEC C19 connector. Singapore wall sockets are BS 1363 (Type G), and none of the connectors on this cord are BS 1363. The normal Singapore arrangement is an IEC-fed rack PDU or a UPS with IEC outlets, with cords like this one running from those outlets to the equipment. If you need a BS 1363 to IEC lead for a UPS or PDU input, ask us separately.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty?
