Fifteen C13 Outlets From a UPS Socket, Using No Rack Units
The APC NetShelter Basic Rack PDU AP9568 is the simplest way to get fifteen IEC C13 outlets into a cabinet without giving up a single rack unit. It is a 0U vertical strip, 610 mm long, that mounts in the side channel of the enclosure, and its attached 1.98 m cord ends in an ordinary IEC C14 plug - so it plugs straight into a C13 outlet on a rack UPS or an upstream PDU. No electrician, no commando socket, no adapter.
That C14-plug arrangement is what makes this model useful in Singapore comms rooms. Most rack UPS units here present C13 outlets, and most switches, routers, firewalls and appliances arrive with C14 inlets. The AP9568 sits between them and turns one UPS socket into fifteen.
10 A and 2.3 kW - Sized for Network Equipment, Not a Rack of Servers
Schneider rates the AP9568 at 10 A and 2,300 VA at 230 V. That is the whole strip, shared across all fifteen outlets - the outlet count is for reach and tidiness, not a multiplier. Ten amps is comfortable for a cabinet of network gear, a couple of 1U appliances and a monitor; it is not enough for a row of dual-PSU servers, which is where the 16 A AP7552 and the 32 A AP7553 take over.
Half-Height Strip for Short and Mid-Height Cabinets
At 610 mm this is a half-height 0U strip - roughly the height of 13 or 14 rack units - rather than the 1.6 m full-height units elsewhere in the range. That makes it the 0U PDU that actually fits a 24U or 27U enclosure, and in a 42U rack it leaves the rest of the channel free for cabling. It is 44 mm square in section and weighs 2 kg, so it can go into a cabinet that is already populated.
Basic Means Basic - and That Is the Point
There is no meter, no display, no network port and no outlet switching on the AP9568. It is a passive distribution strip: power in, fifteen outlets out. That is exactly what you want downstream of a metered UPS or a metered row PDU, where the measurement already happens, and it means there is nothing to configure, patch or fail. A toolless mounting kit and rack brackets are in the box. If you need to see the load at the rack or switch outlets remotely, the metered and switched models in this range - the AP8858, the AP7921B and the AP8858EU3 among them - are the step up.

Compatibility & Rack Fit
What you can plug into it. Fifteen IEC C13 outlets taking standard C14 equipment cords - switches, routers, firewalls, KVMs, appliances, 1U servers and monitors. There are no C19 outlets, so a device with a 16 A C20 inlet cannot be connected and should not be adapted down.
Load planning. 10 A total, 2,300 VA at 230 V, shared by all fifteen outlets. Add up the nameplate current of everything you intend to connect and keep the total comfortably under 10 A, allowing for inrush when the whole cabinet powers up together after an outage. Because this is a Basic PDU there is no meter to warn you, so measure at the UPS or choose a metered model.
Feeding it. The attached 1.98 m cord ends in an IEC C14 plug, which goes into any C13 outlet rated for 10 A - the rear of a rack UPS such as the SMT1500RMI1U, or a C13 outlet on a row PDU. Feeding it from a UPS is the normal Singapore arrangement, and it is also how you get the surge protection and ride-through that a PDU does not provide. Do not plug it into a wall socket through a Schuko or BS 1363 adapter; keep it on the IEC path.
Rack fit. A 0U strip 610 mm long, 44 mm wide and 44 mm deep, weighing 2 kg. It mounts vertically in the side channel with the supplied toolless kit and brackets and consumes no rack units. The half-height length is the reason to choose it for a 24U or 27U cabinet; in a full-height 42U enclosure it occupies about a third of the channel. It will not fit a 6U wallmount box such as the AR106VI - use a 1U strip like the AP9565 there.
Management and monitoring. Not fitted on this model, by design. There is no meter, no LCD, no network port and no sensor port. If you need to see the rack load, the metered AP8858 and AP8858EU3 provide it; if you need to power-cycle a hung device remotely, the switched AP7920B and AP7921B do.

Locking Output Cords (Sold Separately)
These are the cords that run from this unit's C13 outlets to your equipment's C14 inlets. The locking design stops a cord being nudged out of its outlet while you work in the rack - a common and entirely avoidable cause of an unplanned reboot. Frequently Asked Questions — APC AP9568
What does "Basic" mean on this PDU?
Power distribution and nothing else - no current metering, no display, no network port and no outlet switching. The outlets are live whenever the strip is powered. It is the right choice when measurement already happens upstream at the UPS, or when the cabinet simply needs more IEC outlets than the UPS provides.
What does the cord plug into?
An IEC C13 outlet - the AP9568 has an attached 1.98 m cord with an IEC C14 plug on the end. That is the outlet type on the back of a rack UPS and on most row PDUs, so no wiring work is needed. The outlet feeding it must be rated for 10 A.
How much load can it really take?
10 A, or 2,300 VA at 230 V, across the whole strip. Fifteen outlets exist so you can reach every device tidily, not so fifteen devices can each draw their maximum. Sum the nameplate currents before you commit, and talk to us if you are near the limit - the 16 A AP7552 is the next step.
Will it fit my cabinet?
It is 610 mm long, 44 mm wide and 44 mm deep - about a third of the height of a 42U enclosure and a comfortable fit in a 24U or 27U cabinet with a vertical mounting channel. It is too long for a 6U or 9U wallmount box; use a 1U horizontal strip there.
Does it have surge protection?
No. Schneider states that APC Rack PDUs are power distribution devices and do not include surge suppression. Feed the strip from a UPS, which is where surge and sag protection belongs.
What is the difference between this and the AP7552?
Capacity and length. The AP9568 is 10 A / 2.3 kW with fifteen C13 outlets on a 610 mm strip and a C14 plug. The AP7552 is 16 A / 3.68 kW with twenty C13 and four C19 outlets on a 1,619 mm full-height strip fed through a C20 inlet. If servers with C20 inlets or a load above 10 A are involved, take the AP7552.
Can I get a metered or switched version with the same form factor?
Not at 10 A in the current range, but the 0U metered AP8858 (16 A, 18 C13 and 2 C19, 902 mm) and the 1U switched AP7920B (10 A, 8 C13) cover the two most common needs. Tell us what you want to see or control and we will point you to the right model.
