PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD Stereo Noise-Cancelling Headset (783N4AA) - Local Warranty

Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD Headset — Specifications at a Glance

The Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD is the dual-ear Quick Disconnect model in HP’s premium EncorePro 700 range. HP publishes a noise-cancelling microphone running 100 Hz to 6.8 kHz, 28 mm speakers covering 150 Hz to 6.8 kHz, an extendable boom of 120–145 mm rotating 290°, artificial-leather ear cushions and SoundGuard acoustic protection. The headset weighs 78 g on an 890 mm cable, and HP publishes it as a TAA build.

Quick Disconnect: What It Does, and What You Still Need to Buy

The Quick Disconnect plug lets an agent unclip the headset from the cable and walk away from the desk without unseating the headset or dropping the call state, then reconnect instantly. It also means one headset can move between a desk phone and a PC. Because QD is not a USB or phone connector, this headset cannot be plugged into a computer or a phone on its own — it needs a Poly QD-to-USB adapter (DA75, DA85 or the Teams-certified DA85-M) or a QD-to-desk-phone cable such as the Poly HIS cable. These are ordered separately; SourceIT can quote the right one against your phone or softphone platform.

What “Digital” Actually Means on This Part Number

Worth being precise about, because it is easy to over-read. HP publishes this model with “Digital” in the product title, and separately states at series level that the EncorePro 700 Series “reports digital serial number to Plantronics Hub and Plantronics Manager Pro” for inventory management. What HP does not publish is a different connector or a special adapter requirement: the specification lists the same “Wired: QD (Quick-Disconnect)” connection type as the standard-QD EncorePro HW720 QD, and every acoustic and mechanical figure is identical between them. The differences HP does document are in the box — the standard-QD model ships with a carrying case and this one does not.

Noise-Cancelling Microphone and SoundGuard Hearing Protection

HP specifies a noise-cancelling microphone on this part number, and lists SoundGuard acoustic protection technology. On an open contact-centre floor the noise-cancelling boom is what keeps the customer hearing the agent rather than the room, while acoustic limiting is the control that stops a line fault or feedback squeal from causing injury on a full shift. For Singapore employers with duty-of-care obligations to call-handling staff, that is a requirement rather than a feature.

Buying the Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD in Singapore

SourceIT supplies the Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD to Singapore businesses with local warranty and a GST invoice, and can quote volume pricing for contact-centre rollouts alongside the matching QD adapters. Talk to us if you are standardising a floor and need the headset, the adapter and the desk-phone cabling costed as one line — that is the part most quotes get wrong.

Compatibility & Software Support

Operating systems and how QD connects

HP lists Windows 11, Windows 10 and macOS, and describes this model as “compatible with PCs via QD (Quick-Disconnect)”. The important detail is that the headset itself is an analog device. What the computer or desk phone actually sees is the Poly adapter you connect it through, so softphone and platform compatibility follows the adapter, not the headset.

Desk phones and softphones

For a desk phone, a Poly QD-to-phone adapter cable such as the Poly HIS cable (783S3AA) connects the headset to the phone’s headset port. For a PC or Mac softphone, a Poly DA-series USB adapter presents the headset to the operating system as a standard USB audio device, which is how it works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Genesys, Avaya and similar platforms.

Microsoft Teams

HP does not publish a Microsoft Teams certification for this headset on its own. In this family the certification sits with the adapter — the Poly DA85-M (786C8AA) is the Teams-certified USB adapter. If you need a natively certified device with no adapter, look at the EncorePro 515-M or EncorePro 525-M USB models.

What “Digital” does and does not mean

This is worth being precise about, because it is easy to over-read. HP publishes this part number as a “Digital” headset in the product title, and separately states at series level that the EncorePro 700 Series “reports digital serial number to Plantronics Hub and Plantronics Manager Pro” for inventory management. What HP does not publish is a functional difference in the connector: the specification lists the same “Wired: QD (Quick-Disconnect)” connection type as the standard QD models, and every acoustic and mechanical figure is identical. The differences HP does document are in the box — see the Package Contents section below. We are not going to claim a special digital adapter requirement that HP does not state.

Management

An analog QD headset carries no firmware of its own. Where a Poly DA-series USB adapter is used, that adapter is the manageable device and reports through Poly’s management tooling.

Package Contents & EncorePro 700 Series Ordering Information

In the box

  • Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD headset

No adapter, amplifier or bottom cable is included. HP lists the box contents for this part number as the headset only — and unlike the standard-QD HW710 and HW720, no carrying case is listed either. Budget for a QD adapter alongside every headset.

Poly EncorePro Quick Disconnect Range — Ordering Information

The Quick Disconnect range splits into the 500 Series value tier and the 700 Series premium tier, each with standard-QD and Digital-QD builds. The 700 Series standard-QD models ship with a carrying case; the Digital builds do not.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD

Can I plug the Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD straight into my laptop?

No. It ends in a Poly Quick Disconnect plug, not USB or 3.5 mm. You need a Poly QD-to-USB adapter — the DA75 (786C6AA), DA85 (786C7AA) or the Microsoft Teams certified DA85-M (786C8AA). For a desk phone you need a QD-to-phone cable such as the Poly HIS cable (783S3AA) instead. None of these is included in the box.

What is the difference between this Digital QD model and the standard EncorePro HW720 QD?

In HP’s published data, less than the names suggest. Both list the same “Wired: QD (Quick-Disconnect)” connection type and identical acoustic and mechanical figures. The documented differences are in the box: HP ships the EncorePro HW720 QD with a carrying case, and this Digital build without one. HP also states at series level that the EncorePro 700 Series reports a digital serial number to Plantronics Hub and Plantronics Manager Pro, but publishes that as a series feature rather than a Digital-only one. If a carrying case matters to you, that is the clearer basis for choosing between them.

Should I choose single-ear or dual-ear?

Single-ear (monaural) leaves one ear open so agents stay aware of the room and can talk to a supervisor without removing the headset — usually preferred by supervisors, floor-walkers and smaller teams. Dual-ear covers both ears and helps agents concentrate on a noisy open floor. The single-ear equivalent of this model is the Poly EncorePro 710D Digital QD Mono.

Is this headset certified for Microsoft Teams?

HP does not publish a Teams certification for this headset on its own. In this family the certification sits with the adapter — the Poly DA85-M (786C8AA) is the Teams-certified USB adapter. If you need a natively certified device with no adapter, look at the EncorePro 515-M or EncorePro 525-M USB models.

Would a USB model be simpler for my floor?

Often, yes. If every agent sits at a PC and nobody uses a desk phone, a USB headset removes the adapter from the bill of materials and from the support burden. The closest USB equivalent to this model is the Poly EncorePro 725 USB. Quick Disconnect earns its place where agents move between a desk phone and a PC, or where they need to unclip and leave the position mid-shift.

Does it need power or a battery?

No. It is a passive corded headset. It draws what it needs from the QD adapter or desk phone it is connected to, so there is no battery to charge and nothing to replace at end of shift.

Does the Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD come with a Singapore warranty?

Yes. Every Poly EncorePro 720D Digital QD sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
