Poly BYOD Kit Extender For Poly Studio Room Kit
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Poly BYOD Kit Extender for Poly Studio Room Kit (7230-87590-102 / 9R1Y7AA) - Local Warranty
Poly BYOD Kit Extender — USB to 100 m over Structured Cabling
The Poly BYOD Kit Extender takes the USB connection between a laptop connection point and a Poly Studio Room Kit and stretches it up to 100 m (330 ft) over ordinary CAT 5e, 6 or 7 cabling. It is the Icron USB 2.0 Ranger 2311, sold as its own part number. In large Singapore boardrooms, training rooms and auditoriums, the table connection point is routinely further from the AV rack than any USB cable will reach — this is the product that closes that gap.
100 m over CAT 5e, 6 or 7 — Structured Cabling You Already Have
Because the extender runs over standard twisted-pair cabling rather than a proprietary run, it uses the same structured cabling your contractor is already pulling. Poly specifies direct connection up to 100 m (330 ft) over CAT 5e/6/7, carrying USB 2.0 to 480 Mbps and USB 1.1 to 12 Mbps.
Also the Supported Way to Site a GC8 Controller at Distance
HP's own GC8 specification sheet names a USB 2.0 extender kit supporting up to 100 m over CAT5e as a supported way to connect a GC8 touch controller to the room compute — the same figure this extender delivers. So the same device solves both the BYOD table drop and the long controller run.
Straightforward to Install and Power
The extender takes a 100–240 V AC supply with 24 V 1 A DC output and ships with a 1.8 m USB Type-A to Type-B cable and a 5 m USB Type-A to Type-C cable, so both ends have a lead in the box.

Compatibility & Software Support
Compatibility: Poly documents this extender for the Poly Studio Room Kit for PC-based solution. Poly does not publish a list of individual Studio model numbers, so SourceIT does not print one — tell us your room system model and we will confirm before you order.
Also supported for touch controllers: HP's GC8 specification sheet names a USB 2.0 extender kit supporting up to 100 m over CAT5e as a supported way to connect a Poly GC8 controller to the room compute, alongside an active optical cable of 10 m or longer.
USB only. The extender carries USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) and USB 1.1 (12 Mbps). It does not carry HDMI or any other video signal, and it is not a PoE device — it takes its own 24 V DC supply.
Poly lists regional availability for the BYOD solution as US, Canada, EU/EEA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Contact SourceIT to confirm current availability into Singapore.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly BYOD Kit Extender
How far will it actually reach?
Poly specifies direct connection up to 100 m (330 ft) over CAT 5e, CAT 6 or CAT 7 cabling.
What signal does it carry?
USB only — USB 2.0 to 480 Mbps and USB 1.1 to 12 Mbps. It does not carry HDMI or any other video signal.
Do I need the BYOD Kit as well?
Usually yes. The Poly BYOD Kit supplies the eight-port dual-host hub that lets the room's peripherals switch between the room system and a guest laptop; this extender only adds distance to the USB run. Poly's own documentation describes the extender as part of the BYOD solution.
Can I use it to site a GC8 touch controller far from the room PC?
Yes. HP's GC8 specification sheet names a USB 2.0 extender kit supporting up to 100 m over CAT5e as a supported connection method for the GC8, alongside a 10 m or longer active optical cable.
Is it PoE powered?
No. It uses its own power supply — 100–240 V AC input with 24 V 1 A DC output.
Which Poly room systems does it work with?
Poly documents the Poly Studio Room Kit for PC-based solutions. Individual Studio model numbers are not published by Poly, so contact SourceIT with your room system model and we will confirm.
Does this come with local warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every Poly BYOD Kit Extender sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
