Frequently Asked Questions β Dell OptiPlex 3000
What is the difference between the Tower, SFF and Micro?
The Tower (324 x 154 x 292 mm) has the most room for drives and the widest power supply choice; the Small Form Factor (290 x 93 x 293 mm) keeps half-height PCIe x16 and x1 slots in a slimmer case; the Micro (182 x 36 x 178 mm, 1.33 kg) uses a 35 W processor and an external 65 W or 90 W adapter and can sit behind a monitor.
Which processor is fitted?
All configurations in this listing use a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 (6 cores / 12 threads). Tower and SFF use 65 W desktop processors; the Micro uses a 35 W T-series processor. Ask sales for the exact model of any unit in stock.
Can I upgrade the memory?
Yes. There are two memory slots (DDR4 3200 MT/s), supporting up to 64GB. The supplied 8GB can be expanded.
Should I choose the 256GB SSD or the 1TB HDD?
The 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD is much faster for boot and applications; the 1TB SATA hard drive gives more capacity. All three chassis accept an M.2 SSD together with a SATA drive.
Does it have Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi is optional on the OptiPlex 3000. All models have Gigabit Ethernet; an M.2 slot accepts Dell Wi-Fi 6E / Wi-Fi 6 / Wi-Fi 5 cards with Bluetooth.
Is it still available?
This series is no longer available for order. Check remaining stock with sales at sales@sourceit.com.sg, or see the current Dell Pro Tower QCT1250, Dell Pro Micro QCM1250 and OptiPlex 7020 listings.
What warranty do I get?
