12th Gen Intel Core i5 and i7 Performance
Tower and Small Form Factor configurations use the Intel Core i5-12500 (6 cores, up to 4.6 GHz) or Core i7-12700 (12 cores, up to 4.9 GHz) on the Intel Q670 chipset, while the Micro uses the 35 W Core i7-12700T (12 cores, up to 4.7 GHz). Every configuration has Intel UHD Graphics 770 and 8GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
Three Chassis for Any Workspace
Choose the Tower (324.3 x 154 x 292.2 mm) for the most expansion, the Small Form Factor (290 x 92.6 x 292.8 mm) for a compact desktop with full-size drive bays, or the 1.33 kg Micro (182 x 36 x 178 mm) that fits behind a monitor or on a mount.
Built-in Business Security
TPM 2.0, Dell SafeBIOS with off-host BIOS verification, a chassis intrusion switch, supply chain tamper alerts, a padlock ring and Kensington security-cable slot help protect every system on your network.

Operating System
Supplied with a Windows 10 Pro image and a Windows 11 Pro licence. Dell lists Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu Linux 20.04 LTS as supported operating systems.
Displays
All three chassis have two DisplayPort 1.4a outputs as standard, plus one optional video port (HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort, VGA or USB-C with DisplayPort Alt mode) fitted at order time.
Upgrades
Tower and SFF have four DDR4 DIMM slots (up to 128GB) and bays for extra 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives. The Micro has two DDR4 SODIMM slots (up to 64GB) and room for one 2.5-inch SATA drive alongside the M.2 SSD.
Manageability
Dell Command tools, SupportAssist and Dell Update work with the OptiPlex 5000 for driver, BIOS and fleet management.

Which chassis should I choose?
The Tower has the most room for drives and expansion cards, the Small Form Factor is about 92.6 mm wide with the same memory capacity, and the 1.33 kg Micro (36 mm wide) uses 35 W processors and an external power adapter for the smallest footprint.
Can I upgrade the memory?
Yes. The Tower and SFF have four DDR4-3200 DIMM slots supporting up to 128GB; the Micro has two DDR4-3200 SODIMM slots supporting up to 64GB. All configurations ship with a single 8GB module.
Does it support Intel vPro?
Dell lists the Core i5-12500, Core i7-12700 and Core i7-12700T used in these configurations as vPro processors.
Does it include an optical drive or Wi-Fi?
Tower and SFF configurations include an 8x DVD+/-RW drive and wired Gigabit Ethernet. The Micro has no optical drive but includes an internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card.
How many monitors can I connect?
Every chassis has two DisplayPort 1.4a ports as standard, plus one optional video port (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA or USB-C) if fitted.
Is it still available?
