APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000VA 4500W Tower 230V On-Line Double Conversion
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000VA 230V (SRT5KXLI) - 2 Years Local Warranty
5 kVA / 4.5 kW Double-Conversion On-Line Power Protection for Singapore's 230V Mains
The APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000VA (SRT5KXLI) is an on-line, double-conversion UPS: incoming mains is rectified to DC and regenerated as a clean sine wave, so the load is fed from the inverter continuously rather than being switched over when the supply fails. On Singapore's 230V / 50Hz supply that matters most during the storm season, when PUB grid dips and momentary interruptions are common enough to reset a server or corrupt a database write. Schneider rates output harmonic distortion at less than 2% and fits an internal bypass (automatic and manual), so a fault in the inverter path does not have to mean a dropped load.
5,000 VA / 4,500 W of Sine Wave Output on (6) IEC C13, (4) IEC C19 and (2) IEC Jumpers
Schneider rates the SRT5KXLI at 5,000 VA / 4,500 W with a nominal 230 V AC single-phase output (configurable to 220 V or 240 V) at 50/60 Hz ±3 Hz synchronised to mains. Output connections are (6) IEC 60320 C13, (4) IEC 60320 C19 and (2) IEC jumpers, all battery-backed, and a 3:1 crest factor gives headroom for the inrush of switch-mode server power supplies. Size on watts, not VA: total the real power draw of everything you intend to protect and keep it comfortably under 4,500 W.
Scalable Runtime with SRT192BP Battery Packs
Internal batteries are maintenance-free sealed lead-acid on a 192 V DC bus, with two battery modules fitted, a 560 W rated charger and a typical recharge time of 1.5 hours. Schneider's own runtime estimator on the Singapore product page shows 3 minutes 59 seconds at the full 4,500 W load — a ride-through figure; a lighter load runs considerably longer. Where you need defined autonomy the SRT5KXLI accepts up to ten SRT192BP external battery packs. Schneider rates expected battery service life at three to five years; in a Singapore comms cabinet that figure is driven almost entirely by ambient temperature, so keep the room cool and dry. The unit is rated for 0–40°C operation at 0–95% non-condensing humidity.
Tower Chassis — Rail Kit Sold Separately
The SRT5KXLI is the tower orientation of the 5 kVA chassis, 432 mm (H) x 130 mm (W) x 719.4 mm (D), supplied with removable support feet and without a rail kit. Schneider describes it as rack/tower convertible and lists SRTRK2 or SRTRK3 as the rail kit sold separately, so you can rack it later if the deployment changes. If the unit is going into a cabinet from day one, order the SRT5KRMXLI instead: same electronics, 3U rackmount build, rails in the box. Net weight is 54.43 kg either way, so plan the lift and use two people.
Network Management Card 3 Included, and Local Singapore Supply
A Network Management Card 3 with environmental monitoring is pre-installed in the SRT5KXLI and one SmartSlot remains free, so SNMP, HTTPS and EcoStruxure-ready monitoring are available out of the box — Schneider's Singapore listing includes a one-year Secure Network Management Card subscription — and you can still add an AP9613 Dry Contact I/O card later. A multi-function LCD, prioritised alarms, an EPO connection, serial and USB ports and a temperature probe are all provided. Audible noise is 55 dBA and thermal dissipation 931 BTU/hr. SourceIT supplies the SRT5KXLI from Singapore with a GST invoice and local warranty support.

Compatibility & Runtime
What you can plug in. The SRT5KXLI provides (6) IEC 60320 C13, (4) IEC 60320 C19 and (2) IEC jumpers. All outlets are battery-backed. Total the real power draw (watts) of the equipment you intend to protect and keep it below the 4,500 W rating — runtime falls sharply as load rises.
Runtime depends on load. Schneider's runtime estimator on the Singapore product page shows 3 minutes 59 seconds at the full 4,500 W load on the internal batteries. Runtime is not linear: halving the load more than doubles the time on battery. For a figure at your actual load, ask SourceIT for a runtime calculation against your measured watts.
Extended runtime. Connect up to ten SRT192BP external battery packs on the 192 V DC bus. Recharge time increases with each pack added, and each pack has a keyed connector that only fits its corresponding UPS. The rackmount SRT192RMBP is the pack for the rackmount SRT5KRMXLI, not for this tower unit.
Rack fit. This is the tower SKU: 432 mm (H) x 130 mm (W) x 719.4 mm (D), supplied with removable support feet and without a rail kit. Schneider lists SRTRK2 or SRTRK3 as the rail kit sold separately. If you know the unit is going into a cabinet, the SRT5KRMXLI is the 3U rackmount build with rails included.
Input and circuit — read this before ordering. The SRT5KXLI is hard wired: (1) hard wire 3-wire (1P + N + E). It does not arrive with a plug you can put into a wall socket — a licensed electrician must terminate it onto a suitably rated dedicated circuit. Confirm the supply and breaker rating with building management before delivery — the most common cause of a delayed SRT installation in Singapore.
Network management. A Network Management Card 3 with environmental monitoring is pre-installed, so SNMP, HTTPS and email alerting are available out of the box and PowerChute Network Shutdown can close down multiple servers gracefully. One SmartSlot remains free for an AP9613 Dry Contact I/O card, and the AP9335TH sensor adds humidity readings to the card's environmental inputs.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC SRT5KXLI
What is the difference between the 5,000 VA and 4,500 W rating, and how do I size the SRT5KXLI?
VA is apparent power and W is real power; equipment nameplates and PSU ratings are quoted in watts, and watts is the figure that limits you. Add up the real draw of everything you want on battery and keep the total below 4,500 W. Sizing to about 70–80% of that leaves headroom for inrush and future additions, and gives noticeably longer runtime.
How long will the SRT5KXLI run on battery?
Schneider's runtime estimator on the Singapore product page shows 3 minutes 59 seconds at the full 4,500 W load on the internal batteries. That is a ride-through figure. Runtime is not linear — halving the load more than doubles the time on battery — so a typical 40–50% load runs well beyond that. For defined autonomy, add SRT192BP packs (up to 10) and ask SourceIT to size the configuration against your measured load.
Does the SRT5KXLI produce a sine wave output, and will it work with an active-PFC power supply?
Yes. Schneider specifies a sine wave output with less than 2% harmonic distortion, and the unit is an on-line double-conversion design, so the load is fed from the inverter continuously. That is exactly the output type active-PFC server and workstation power supplies expect.
What do the XLI and RMXLI suffixes mean?
XLI is the tower orientation supplied without a rail kit; RMXLI is the rackmount build supplied with the rail kit. Schneider also produces XLT and XLW variants for other regional voltages, so check the part number against your tender.
Which replacement battery does the SRT5KXLI take, and can I change it myself?
Schneider lists the APCRBC140, one cartridge per unit. APC designs the SRT battery modules to be user-replaceable and the front bezel comes off without tools. Expected battery life is three to five years; heat shortens it.
Does the SRT5KXLI come with a plug?
No — and this catches people out. The input is (1) hard wire 3-wire (1P + N + E). A licensed electrician must terminate it onto a dedicated circuit of suitable rating.
Can I rack-mount the SRT5KXLI?
Yes. Schneider lists SRTRK2 or SRTRK3 as the rail kit sold separately; converted, it occupies 3U. If it is going into a cabinet from the start, the SRT5KRMXLI is the 3U rackmount build with rails in the box.
Can I monitor the SRT5KXLI over the network?
Yes, out of the box. A Network Management Card 3 with environmental monitoring is pre-installed, giving SNMP, HTTPS and email alerting plus PowerChute Network Shutdown for graceful multi-server shutdown. One SmartSlot remains free for an AP9613 Dry Contact I/O card.
Is the SRT5KXLI covered by warranty in Singapore?
Yes. Every APC SRT5KXLI sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SRT5KXLI with a 3-year manufacturer warranty on the UPS (repair or replace, excluding the battery) and 2 years on the battery.
