The AP8858 With a 16 A Commando Cord in the Box
The APC NetShelter Metered Rack PDU AP8858EU3 is the cord-included version of the AP8858: the same 902 mm half-height 0U strip with eighteen IEC C13 and two IEC C19 outlets, rated 16 A and 3.7 kW at 230 V, but supplied with a 3 m locking input cord that ends in an IEC 60309 16 A 2P+E plug. If your rack or row PDU presents 16 A commando sockets - common in Singapore data centres and colocation cages - this is the part number to order, and nothing else needs buying.
Device-Level Metering to ±3%, With Energy Tracking
The AP8858EU3 measures amps, volts, kW and kWh for the whole strip to ±3% accuracy and reports them over the network, so you can plan capacity, balance A and B feeds and track energy for scope 1 and scope 3 emissions reporting. Schneider positions it for colocation and remote data centre operators, and it is the sensible choice for a Singapore branch or server room where you want to see the rack load without paying for per-outlet metering.
Network Management Built In
Web, SNMP, Telnet and SSH access are standard, reporting into EcoStruxure IT and other platforms, and Schneider includes a one-year Secure Network Management Card subscription. Nothing needs to be fitted - the management is on the strip - and a serial configuration cable is in the box for first setup.
A 902 mm Strip That Fits Mid-Height Cabinets
At 902 mm long, 56 mm wide and 44 mm deep and 2.93 kg, this is a half-height 0U unit. It is the metered strip that fits a 24U or 27U enclosure with a vertical channel, and in a 42U rack it leaves room in the channel for a second strip on the B feed. Rack mounting brackets are supplied.

Compatibility & Rack Fit
What you can plug into it. Eighteen IEC C13 outlets for C14-corded servers, switches and appliances, and two IEC C19 outlets for C20-corded storage or a larger switch. Twenty outlets is plenty for a mid-height cabinet or one feed of a full-height rack.
Load planning. 16 A total, 3.7 kW at 230 V. The device-level meter shows you the aggregate load to ±3 percent, so you can watch the headroom as you add equipment and set an alarm threshold before the limit. For a rack of dual-PSU servers, run two of these on A and B feeds or step up to the 32 A AP8853.
Feeding it. The supplied 3 m locking cord ends in an IEC 60309 16 A 2P+E plug, so the rack needs a 16 A commando socket - on a row PDU, a busway tap-off or a fixed outlet. If your supply is a C19 outlet on a UPS instead, order the AP8858, which has a bare C20 inlet, and add a C19-to-C20 lead.
Rack fit. A 0U strip 902 mm long, 56 mm wide and 44 mm deep, weighing 2.93 kg - a half-height unit that fits a 24U or 27U enclosure with a vertical channel and takes up about half the channel in a 42U rack. In a short cabinet without a channel, the 2U AP7822B is the horizontal metered alternative.
Management and sensors. Web, SNMP, Telnet and SSH are built in with EcoStruxure IT reporting and a one-year Secure NMC subscription. The 2G Metered range supports an APC environmental sensor such as the AP9335TH; ask us to confirm the sensor for this part number when you order. The AP9640 and AP9641 cards we sell are Smart-UPS accessories and are not used with this PDU.
What it does not do. No outlet switching - you cannot power-cycle a device remotely from this PDU; that is the switched range, such as the AP7921B or the per-outlet AP8659. No per-outlet metering. And no surge protection, which is a UPS function.

Locking Output Cords (Sold Separately)
These are the cords that run from this unit's C13 outlets to your equipment's C14 inlets. The locking design stops a cord being nudged out of its outlet while you work in the rack - a common and entirely avoidable cause of an unplanned reboot. Note that this is an output cord kit, not this unit's supply cord - if you also need an input cord, tell us and we will quote the right type for this model.

What is the difference between the AP8858EU3 and the AP8858?
The cord. Both are the same 902 mm metered strip - eighteen C13, two C19, 16 A, 3.7 kW, built-in network management. The AP8858EU3 ships with a 3 m locking input cord ending in an IEC 60309 16 A 2P+E commando plug. The AP8858 ships with a bare C20 inlet and no cord, for feeding from a C19 outlet on a UPS. Choose on what socket your rack provides.
Is it metered per outlet?
No. The AP8858EU3 meters at device level - amps, volts, kW and kWh for the whole strip, to ±3% - and reports over the network. If you need a reading for each outlet, the AP8659 is the per-outlet metered and switched unit at the same 16 A rating.
What supply does it need?
A 16 A IEC 60309 2P+E commando socket - the blue three-pin connector - on a row PDU, busway or fixed outlet. The 3 m locking cord is in the box, so there is nothing else to buy.
Can I monitor temperature and humidity through it?
The 2G Metered range supports APC environmental sensors such as the AP9335TH. Ask us to confirm the sensor port for this part number when you order and we will include the right sensor on the quote.
Does it have surge protection?
No. Schneider's specification guide for the AP8858EU3 has no surge section, joule rating or clamping figure. Surge and sag protection is a UPS function.
Can it switch outlets off remotely?
No - Metered means measurement, not control. To power-cycle a hung device remotely, look at the AP7921B in 1U or the per-outlet AP8659 in 0U.
How does it compare with the Easy Rack PDU EPDU1116M?
Both are 902 mm, 16 A, 3.7 kW metered strips on a 3 m IEC 60309 cord. The EPDU1116M has one more C19 outlet, an LCD and a one-year warranty and is the value option. The AP8858EU3 is the NetShelter 2G platform with SSH and Telnet, a two-year warranty, the Secure NMC subscription and EcoStruxure IT reporting. For a colocation or managed environment we would take the AP8858EU3; for a branch cabinet the EPDU1116M is usually enough.
