Ultra-High-Density Wi-Fi 6 for Stadiums, Convention Centres and Auditoriums
The RUCKUS R850 is RUCKUS's 8x8:8 dual-band, dual-concurrent 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) indoor access point, with 12 spatial streams in total and a combined 5.9 Gbps data rate (4.8 Gbps on 5 GHz, 1.148 Gbps on 2.4 GHz). RUCKUS rates it at up to 1024 clients per AP.
Unleashed: Controller-Less Wi-Fi
This is the Unleashed edition (part number prefix 9U1-). RUCKUS Unleashed access points carry an embedded controller, so there is no separate controller appliance or cloud subscription to buy. RUCKUS says you just plug it in and set it up from the RUCKUS Unleashed mobile app or any web browser, and add capacity by plugging in another Unleashed AP. Unleashed also manages RUCKUS ICX switches, and includes guest services, Dynamic PSK and SmartMesh wireless meshing.
Ultra-High-Density Technology Suite
RUCKUS combines BeamFlex+ adaptive antennas (more than 4,000 antenna pattern combinations), Airtime Decongestion and Transient Client Management to keep performance up in venues where large numbers of devices come and go.
5GbE Uplink and Built-In IoT
One 1/2.5/5 Gbps Ethernet port plus one 1GbE port, onboard BLE and Zigbee, and a USB 2.0 port.
Supplied in Singapore with Local Warranty
RUCKUS sells the R850 with a limited lifetime warranty. SourceIT supplies it locally in Singapore with a GST invoice. The R850 does not include a power adaptor; RUCKUS does not recommend 802.3af power. Email sales@sourceit.com.sg with your venue plan for a design and bill of materials.

Compatibility & Software Support
Management
This 9U1- part ships as an Unleashed AP: set up and managed from the RUCKUS Unleashed mobile app or a web browser, with no controller hardware. RUCKUS lists the R850 hardware as supported by SmartZone, ZoneDirector, Unleashed, standalone and cloud management — if you plan to run a controller or RUCKUS One from day one, the non-Unleashed part 901-R850-WW00 is the usual order.
Mixing with Other RUCKUS Gear
Unleashed can manage RUCKUS ICX switches alongside the access points. Wi-Fi 6 clients get the full 802.11ax feature set; 802.11a/b/g/n/ac devices remain supported.
What It Is Suited To
RUCKUS positions the R850 for transit hubs, auditoriums, stadiums, convention centres, school auditoriums and other very busy indoor spaces, including 4K video streaming.

What is the difference between 9U1-R850-WW00 and 901-R850-WW00?
Same R850 hardware. 9U1- ships with Unleashed (embedded controller, no controller or subscription needed); 901- is the standard AP for SmartZone, ZoneDirector or RUCKUS One management.
What power does the R850 need?
DC, PoH or uPoE for all features (up to 31.0 W). 802.3at PoE+ runs it in one of two reduced modes (23.8 W or 25.31 W). RUCKUS does not recommend 802.3af, which disables the radios.
Does it need a multi-gigabit switch?
To use its full uplink, yes — the main port runs at 1, 2.5 or 5 Gbps.
How many devices can it handle?
RUCKUS rates the R850 at up to 1024 clients per AP and up to 16 SSIDs per radio.
What warranty do I get?
RUCKUS sells the R850 with a limited lifetime warranty; SourceIT supplies it with local support and a GST invoice.
