The APC SMX120RMBP2U is the 120 V DC external battery pack matched to the 2U rackmount Smart-UPS X models above 2 kVA. It holds 1200 VAh across ten 12 V blocks per string and two replacement cartridges, and it ships with a rail kit as part of the product itself. In a Singapore data cabinet running on 230 V/50 Hz mains, this is the difference between riding out a brownout and running a full graceful shutdown of everything in the rack.
Built for the 2U Chassis — 667 mm Deep, Rails Included
This pack is 85 mm high (2U), 432 mm wide and 667 mm deep. That depth is the number to check before you order: it needs a genuinely deep cabinet, and it is 177 mm deeper than the 48 V SMX48RMBP2U. At 56.36 kg net it is also heavy enough to matter for rack load planning and for the two people you will want on the install.
Up to Ten Packs, Managed by the UPS
The Smart-UPS X display will recognise as many as ten SMX120RMBP2U packs connected to a single UPS. The UPS handles charging and runtime calculation for the whole string, so front-panel runtime and PowerChute shutdown timing remain correct as you scale. Adding packs later is a straightforward upgrade path when a rack grows past its original power budget.
Rated for a Singapore Comms Room
The pack is specified for 0–40 °C operation and 0–95% relative humidity, which covers a Singapore comms cabinet comfortably — though as with all sealed lead-acid, cooler is kinder and battery life shortens in a hot cupboard. It is Green Premium, mercury free, REACh SVHC free and RoHS pro-active compliant. SourceIT supplies it with a GST invoice and local Singapore warranty support.

Schneider Electric does not publish a recharge time or a safety-agency certification list for this pack, and does not describe it as hot-swappable — so those are not claimed here. The replacement cartridge part number is widely quoted in the trade as APCRBC118 but we could not confirm it in a Schneider-authored document, so we have left it out rather than risk sending you the wrong cartridge; ask us and we will confirm against the label on your unit. Barcode data on this SKU is inconsistent between sources. Where Schneider Electric does not publish a figure for this exact model, SourceIT leaves it out rather than estimate it from a similar part number.
Compatibility & Runtime
The SMX120RMBP2U is the 120 V pack for the 2U rackmount Smart-UPS X models above 2 kVA. It is not interchangeable with the 4U SMX120BP despite both being 120 V and 1200 VAh — different chassis, different depth, different mounting hardware, different UPS family. The models named in Schneider's 2U rack operation manual are:

Schneider's manual also lists the 100–127 V 2U models SMX2000RMLV2U, SMX2200RMLV2U, SMX3000RMLV2U, SMX3000RMLV2UNC and SMX3000RMJ2U. Those are low-voltage builds not sold for the Singapore 230 V market and SourceIT does not stock them.
SourceIT also stocks the SMX2200R2HVNC, a later 2U 200–240 V build in the same chassis family. It is not named in the manual revision we checked, so please confirm pack compatibility with us before ordering for that model rather than assuming it.
Runtime depends on the connected load and Schneider publishes no runtime table for this pack, so we will not quote a figure. Give us your load in watts and your target runtime and we will size the pack count. The pack has no outlets and no AC input of its own — it is a DC extension of the UPS battery bus, and all load connection, metering and network management stay with the UPS.

No. Both are 120 V and 1200 VAh, but the SMX120RMBP2U is a 2U chassis 667 mm deep for the 2U rack UPS family, while the SMX120BP is a 4U chassis 483 mm deep for the 4U tower/rack family. Different mounting hardware and different UPS models — they are not substitutes.
How many packs can I connect?
Up to ten per UPS. The UPS recognises each one and adjusts its runtime estimate automatically.
How much runtime will it add?
It depends on your load, and Schneider publishes no runtime table for this pack, so we will not invent one. Tell us your load in watts and the number of minutes you need and we will size it properly.
Does the rail kit come with it?
Yes — the rail kit is part of the product, and it is in the official Schneider product name. Rack-mounting brackets and the installation guide are in the carton too.
What do I need to allow for in the rack?
2U of height, 667 mm of depth and 56.36 kg per pack. The depth is the usual sticking point — check your cabinet before ordering. Mount battery packs low for stability and confirm the rack's static load rating if you are stacking several.
Is the warranty valid in Singapore, and do I get a GST invoice?
