Schneider publishes two contradictory cabinet-depth figures for the SRVRK1 across its own regional catalogues (700 mm on some, 780 mm on others), so no depth rating is quoted here. The figure that actually governs your install is the UPS chassis depth of 312 mm, given above.

What you can plug in

The SRV1KRI provides 3 × IEC 60320 C13 (all battery backup and surge protected). Every outlet is fed from the inverter, so all of them carry battery backup and surge protection — there is no surge-only bank on this model. Rated capacity is 1000 VA / 800 W: size the load against the 800 W figure, because a server, switch or storage array is a watts load, not a VA load.

Input and circuit requirements

Input connection is IEC 60320 C14 inlet, 1.5 m input cord. Singapore mains is 230 V / 50 Hz, which sits comfortably inside this unit's 160–280 V full-load input window, and the on-line inverter regenerates the output waveform continuously rather than switching to battery for every dip — useful during the voltage sags that accompany a thunderstorm on the PUB grid.

Rack space and depth

This is a 2U rackmount unit, 86 mm (H) × 437 mm (W) × 312 mm (D), and it is rack-only — there is no tower conversion. The number that decides whether it fits your cabinet is the chassis depth of 312 mm. At 312 mm it suits a standard comms cabinet comfortably.

Schneider's own part number for this UPS ends in “W/O rail kit” — the bare SRV1KRI does not include rails. This SourceIT listing is the bundle: the UPS plus a separate SRVRK1 19-inch rail kit carton, rated to 60 kg. The UPS carton itself also contains rack mounting brackets.

Batteries and runtime

The SRV1KRI runs on sealed maintenance-free VRLA batteries at 24 V DC, and recharges in 4 hours. Expected service life is 3–5 years in a temperature-controlled room; Singapore's ambient heat and humidity are the main things that shorten it, so a comms cabinet with airflow is worth the effort.

The matching replacement battery cartridge is APCRBCV200 (VRLA, 9 Ah, 24 V DC). Note this is the APCRBCV series used by Easy UPS On-Line, which is a different range from the APCRBC cartridges used by Smart-UPS — do not substitute across the two.

This model does not accept an external battery pack. If you need longer autonomy at this capacity, the extended-runtime power-module models are the correct product — they are listed in the ordering block below.

Management options

The SRV1KRI has a USB port, an RS-232 DB-9 serial port and one Intelligent Card Slot. Schneider's card for that slot is the APV9601 SNMP card. The Easy UPS On-Line SRV range uses a different card family from Smart-UPS: the AP9640 and AP9641 Network Management Card 3 units fit Smart-UPS SmartSlot equipment and will not work in this UPS.

For direct USB or serial shutdown of a single host, Schneider's FAQ FA315835 lists SRV models of 3 kVA and below as supported by PowerChute Serial Shutdown and PowerChute Business Edition. PowerChute itself is a Schneider download rather than a licence sold with the UPS — ask us if you want the current version confirmed for your operating system before you commission.

Schneider has moved this range to the “-E” generation, which is a genuinely different build — higher output wattage at the same VA rating (0.9 output power factor instead of 0.8), EPO support and different battery cartridges. If you are specifying a new installation rather than matching existing equipment, look at APC Easy UPS SRV 1000VA RM 230V with Battery & Rail Kit (SRV1KRILRK-E). Do not assume the two share specifications.

What is the difference between the 1000 VA and 800 W ratings, and how do I size it?

VA is apparent power, watts is real power. The SRV1KRI is rated 1000 VA / 800 W, an output power factor of 0.8. Add up the watts of everything you intend to protect, keep the total under 800 W, and leave headroom — loading a UPS to 100 % shortens both runtime and battery life. As a rough Singapore rule of thumb, a 1U rack server draws 200–400 W, a 24-port PoE switch 150–400 W depending on how much PoE is actually drawn, and a small NAS 60–120 W. How long will the SRV1KRI run my equipment?

Schneider does not publish a runtime-at-load table for this model that we could verify against two independent official sources, so we do not quote minutes here rather than invent them.

What matters in practice is that an on-line UPS in this class is sized for a clean shutdown or a generator start, not for riding through a long outage. If you need tens of minutes, the extended-runtime power-module models with external battery packs are the right product. Is the output a true sine wave, and will it work with an active-PFC power supply?

Yes. Schneider's datasheet for this exact model states a sine wave output with 3 % voltage distortion, and the topology is double conversion on-line — the load is fed from the inverter continuously rather than being switched over when mains fails. That is what an active-PFC server or workstation PSU wants; the step-approximated output of a low-cost standby UPS is what causes those supplies to trip. Schneider does not publish a numeric transfer time for this model and we do not claim one.

What do the different Easy UPS On-Line suffixes mean?

They are genuinely different builds, not marketing variants. KI is a tower with internal batteries. KRI is the 2U rackmount build of the same capacity — different outlet count and dimensions, so do not read tower specs onto a rack unit. PM…IL is an extended-runtime power module with no internal batteries, supplied with an external pack. -E is the newer generation with a 0.9 output power factor, so an SRV3KI-E delivers 2700 W where this generation delivers 2400 W at the same 3 kVA. RK means the rail kit is included in the part number.

Which replacement battery cartridge does the SRV1KRI take, and can I change it myself?

The cartridge is APCRBCV200 (VRLA, 9 Ah, 24 V DC). It is user-replaceable, and the batteries are the consumable part of any UPS — expect 3–5 years in a well-ventilated room, less in a hot cabinet, which is the usual Singapore constraint. Order by that exact part number: the APCRBCV series belongs to Easy UPS On-Line and is not interchangeable with the APCRBC cartridges used by Smart-UPS, even where the voltage looks similar. How much rack space does it need, and are the rails included?

It occupies 2U and the chassis is 312 mm deep. Schneider's part number for the bare UPS ends in “W/O rail kit”, so the rails are a separate item — and they are included in this SourceIT bundle as an SRVRK1 carton alongside the UPS. The UPS carton also contains rack mounting brackets. The rail kit is rated to 60 kg, comfortably above this unit's net weight of 11.0 kg. At 312 mm it fits a standard comms cabinet.

How do I monitor it over the network?

Fit the APV9601 SNMP card in the UPS Intelligent Card Slot. That is the Easy UPS On-Line card — the AP9640 and AP9641 Network Management Card 3 units fit Smart-UPS SmartSlot equipment and will not work here. Without a card you still get USB and RS-232 for a direct shutdown link to one host, with PowerChute Serial Shutdown or PowerChute Business Edition. Note that Schneider has discontinued the APV9601; ask us about current stock and the AP9544 successor before you commit to a monitoring design.

Is the SRV1KRI covered by warranty in Singapore?

Yes. Every APC SRV1KRI sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the SRV1KRI with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Schneider publishes a single worldwide figure of “2 years repair or replace” for the Easy UPS On-Line SRV range — there is no separate European and rest-of-world split on this family, so the term above is the one that applies in Singapore.
