The APC Easy UPS On-Line SRV1KI-E is a true double-conversion on-line UPS rated at 1000 VA / 900 W in a compact tower. The load runs from the inverter continuously, on a clean 230 V sine wave with 3% maximum distortion, rather than waiting on a transfer when the mains misbehaves.
For a Singapore office, clinic or small comms room that means the everyday problems β voltage sag during a storm, a brownout on a loaded riser, switching transients from lift or air-conditioning plant β are absorbed by the rectifier rather than passed to your equipment, and the battery is held in reserve for a real outage. The input stage accepts anything from 180 V to 285 V at full load without touching the battery, which is a far wider window than a line-interactive UPS offers.
0.9 Power Factor β More Real Watts per kVA
The -E generation is the 0.9 power factor build of the Easy UPS On-Line SRV range, and that is the main reason to choose it: the SRV1KI-E delivers 900 W from 1000 VA, where the earlier SRV1KI delivers 800 W from the same VA rating. When you are sizing against a tower server, a NAS, a small switch stack or a point-of-sale back office, watts are the number that decides whether the UPS copes.
Size on the total continuous watts of the connected load with headroom for start-up surge, and talk to us if you are close to the limit β we would rather size it right than have it trip.
A Small Tower That Sits Beside the Equipment
At 223 mm high, 145 mm wide and 288 mm deep, and 9.6 kg, the SRV1KI-E is a genuine desk-side or floor-standing unit. It needs no rack, no rails and no lifting help, which makes it the natural choice where the load is one server or a wall-mounted comms panel rather than a cabinet. It is not rack-mountable; if you need the same 1 kVA rating on rails, the SRV1KRIRK-E is the 2U rackmount build.
Audible noise is 50 dBA, so it is acceptable in a back office but is not a silent unit β place it in a store room or comms cupboard rather than on a shared desk if that matters.
Outlets, Power Cord and Network Management
Output is provided on 3 x IEC C13, so ordinary IEC power leads plug straight in β no electrician and no hardwiring required. Input is a standard IEC C14 inlet. The input lead in the carton is an IEC C13 to Schuko (CEE 7/7) cable, which does not fit Singapore's BS 1363 (Type G) wall sockets. The normal solution here is a BS 1363 to IEC C13 lead, which plugs into the unit's C14 inlet, or feeding the UPS from an IEC-outlet rack PDU. Neither is bundled; ask us if you need one.
The -E generation adds an Emergency Power Off connector, using normally-closed contacts, which the earlier non-E models do not have β a genuine advantage where a room EPO loop is a condition of occupancy. An Intelligent Card Slot takes an AP9544 Network Management Card 3 for SNMP monitoring, and PowerChute Serial Shutdown handles graceful unattended shutdown over USB or serial.

Compatibility & Runtime
Outlets and What Can Be Plugged In
The SRV1KI-E provides 3 x IEC C13 on the output. Standard IEC leads plug straight in, so no electrician is needed for the load side. Three outlets is enough for a server, its monitor and a switch, or a NAS plus a router and a modem; if you need more, an IEC C14-to-multiple-C13 splitter or a small IEC-outlet PDU on one of the C13 sockets is the usual answer, provided the total stays inside 900 W.
Size on watts, not on VA. This unit is a 0.9 power factor build rated at 900 W. Add up the continuous draw of everything you intend to connect, leave headroom for start-up surge, and check the total against that figure. We are happy to do the sum for you.
Placement
The chassis is a tower measuring 223 x 145 x 288 mm and weighing 9.6 kg. It stands vertically on its own feet with the supplied front bezel and is not designed for rack mounting. Leave clear space at the rear and sides for the cooling fan, and keep it off carpet where dust builds up; a shelf in a comms cupboard or the floor of a plant room beside the equipment is ideal.
Battery and Runtime
The battery is a sealed maintenance-free VRLA type β two 12 V 9 Ah blocks on a 24 V bus β with a typical three to five year service life in normal conditions. Singapore's humidity and ambient temperature both shorten battery life, so a room that stays close to 25 Β°C will get materially more service out of a battery than one that sits at 35 Β°C. The replacement cartridge for this model is APCRBCV203 β note that the -E generation uses different cartridge part numbers from the earlier non-E models, so check the part number against your actual unit before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions β APC SRV1KI-E
What is the difference between the VA and the watt rating, and how do I size this UPS?
VA is apparent power and watts is real power; the watt rating is what limits your load. The -E generation is a 0.9 power factor build, so this model gives 900 W from 1000 VA β more real power than the earlier SRV1KI, which gives 800 W. Total up the continuous watts of everything you want to protect, allow headroom for start-up surge and growth, and compare that to 900 W.
What does the β-Eβ suffix actually change?
Three things that matter. The output power factor rises from 0.8 to 0.9, so you get more real watts from the same VA rating. An Emergency Power Off connector is fitted, which the non-E models do not have. And the replacement battery cartridge part number changes β APCRBCV203 for this model β so a cartridge from a non-E unit is not the right part for an -E unit. Everything else β on-line double conversion, the two-year warranty, the Intelligent Card Slot β carries over.
Will the supplied power cord plug into a Singapore wall socket?
No. The input lead in the box is a Schuko (CEE 7/7) plug to IEC C13, which is the continental European type and does not fit a BS 1363 Type G socket. You need a BS 1363 to IEC C13 lead, which plugs straight into the unit's C14 inlet, or you feed the UPS from an IEC-outlet rack PDU. Neither is included in the carton; ask us and we can quote one.
What runtime will I get?
Schneider's brochure for the range prints 10 minutes at half load and 3 minutes at full load, and the datasheet gives a maximum of 3 minutes. Runtime falls sharply as load rises, so a 300 W load will run considerably longer than a 900 W one. Which replacement battery cartridge does it take, and can I change it myself?
This model takes the APCRBCV203 cartridge, a 24 V pack made up of two 12 V 9 Ah blocks. Schneider describes the batteries as user replaceable. Plan on a short shutdown window for a battery change unless we confirm otherwise for your build. Because the -E cartridge numbers differ from the non-E ones, always check the part number printed on the unit before ordering.
Can I mount it in a rack?
No β the SRV1KI-E is a tower-only chassis with no rack ears or rail option. If you need the same 1000 VA / 900 W rating in a cabinet, the SRV1KRIRK-E is the 2U rackmount build with the rails in the box, and the SRV1KRILRK-E is the 4U extended-runtime rackmount build.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
