Video Conferencing & Meeting Rooms

Can a Small Meeting Room Feel Like a Premium Boardroom? Meet the Yealink UVC40 E2.

Yes, a small meeting room can deliver most of what makes a boardroom feel premium: everyone clearly in frame, natural audio both ways, a clean installation and a meeting that starts on time. For an SME, an all-in-one USB video bar such as the Yealink UVC40 E2 gets you there without boardroom costs, for S$645.00 at SourceIT (listed 25 Oct 2026), plus a display and the room PC or a guest laptop. What a small room cannot copy is a boardroom's scale: multiple screens, ceiling microphones across a long table and a dedicated control panel. For rooms of four to six people, you rarely need those.

What makes a meeting room feel premium?

What makes a good boardroom feel premium is rarely the camera's megapixels. It is that remote colleagues can see everyone, nobody has to repeat themselves, the call starts at the first try and there are no cables across the table. Those are the targets, and each maps to a feature you can buy for a small room:

Premium experience What delivers it in a small room Yealink UVC40 E2
Everyone visible Wide-angle camera with AI framing 120° view, Auto Framing, Speaker Tracking
Faces, not silhouettes Exposure control for windows Smart Area Exposure

UVC40 E2 figures from Yealink's product page and July 2026 datasheet.

How big is a "small" meeting room?

Yealink positions the UVC40 E2 for small and huddle rooms but does not publish a headcount. Microsoft's Teams Rooms planning guidance gives useful reference sizes: a focus room of about 10 x 9 ft (3.0 x 2.7 m) for 2 to 4 people, and a small room of about 16 x 16 ft (4.9 x 4.9 m) for 4 to 6 people. Medium rooms in Microsoft's table start at 18 x 20 ft for 6 to 12 people. If your room fits the first two descriptions, a single video bar is the right class of device.

Premium is not more equipment. It is fewer things that can go wrong in front of a client.

For a presentation-heavy room, add wireless screen sharing with Yealink RoomCast E2. Volume pricing changes these figures, so request a quote for your office.

Installation tips that make a small room look finished

  • Mount the bar at the display, centred above or below it, using the included TV-mount or wall bracket. Hide the USB cable in trunking.
  • Deal with the window. Blinds help even with Smart Area Exposure.
  • Soften the room. Glass and bare walls cause echo. A rug, a fabric panel or curtains make a real difference to how the microphones sound.
  • Keep the room PC in the room, or standardise the guest connection with a BYOD Box so nobody hunts for adapters.

The wider checklist, including network and acoustics, is in Why Everyone Hates Your Office Video Calls.

When should an SME spend more?

Our view on where simple stops being enough is in Stop Wasting Money on Complicated Meeting Rooms. In short: if your main boardroom seats more than six, if you need two screens, or if your company runs certified Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms, a single USB bar is not the right tool. Yealink's MeetingBar A series runs as an Android appliance, and the medium room collection covers larger spaces. The UVC40 E2 is not sold as a certified device; our Teams and Zoom guide to the UVC40 E2 explains what that means.
