4K Camera, AI Tracking and 8 Microphones: Is the Yealink UVC40 E2 Too Good to Ignore?
For small rooms that run Microsoft Teams or Zoom from a PC or laptop, the Yealink UVC40 E2 is hard to ignore: a 4K camera with a 120° view, AI Auto Framing and Speaker Tracking, and eight microphones, for S$645.00 at SourceIT (listed 25 Oct 2026). It works with Teams and Zoom as a standard USB camera, microphone and speaker, so there is no driver to install. What it is not is a certified Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms device, and Yealink does not name Google Meet. If your organisation only allows certified room hardware, it is the wrong pick, however good the spec sheet looks.

How does it work with Microsoft Teams?
Yealink says the UVC40 E2 "applies to" Microsoft Teams, Zoom and most other platforms through standard USB video and audio classes (UVC and UAC). In practice, you plug it into the room PC or a laptop, and Teams lists it as the camera, microphone and speaker. That is all most small rooms need. What you do not get is Microsoft's certification. Microsoft tests certified devices for audio quality, plug-and-play behaviour and call controls, and Teams Rooms deployments often require certified peripherals by policy. Yealink does not claim that certification for the UVC40 E2, so check your IT policy before you buy for a Teams Rooms on Windows build. Our explainer How to choose between a Microsoft certified and UC device covers the trade-off.
How does it work with Zoom?
The same way: as a USB camera, microphone and speaker for the Zoom desktop client or a PC-based Zoom room. Yealink names Zoom Rooms among the platforms it applies to but, again, does not claim Zoom certification. If you need certified Zoom Rooms hardware, see the Zoom Rooms solutions collection.
"Works with" means it plugs in and runs. "Certified" means someone tested it against a standard. Decide which your rooms need before comparing specs.
Is the AI tracking worth it?
In small rooms, yes. A wide 120° view on its own shows a lot of wall and makes faces small. Auto Framing crops to the people who are there, and Speaker Tracking moves to whoever is talking, so remote participants see faces rather than furniture. Smart Area Exposure is a practical feature for rooms with a window or glass wall behind the table. The limits are physical: 5x e-PTZ is digital zoom, so close-ups lose detail, and the camera is sized for small rooms. For more on getting framing right, read Your Meeting Room Camera Is Missing Half the People.
Do eight microphones make a difference?
More microphones give the beamforming more to work with, and Yealink rates the array at 6 m pickup with a 72 dB signal-to-noise ratio and built-in noise and echo cancellation. For a small room, that is more than enough. The Logitech MeetUp 2 has six microphones rated at 7 m, so the microphone count alone does not decide the comparison. For a longer table, add Yealink's VCM36-W wireless or VCM35 wired microphone (S$360.00 each).
When is it too good to ignore, and when should you look elsewhere?
- Buy the UVC40 E2 for small and huddle rooms on Teams or Zoom from a PC or laptop, when certification is not a requirement.
- Look at the Logitech MeetUp 2 (S$1,299.38) if you need certified Teams Rooms on Windows, Zoom Rooms or Google Meet hardware in a USB bar; compared in UVC40 E2 vs Logitech MeetUp 2.
- Look at Yealink's MeetingBar A series if you want an Android appliance with no room PC, or Yealink's MVC series for Teams Rooms on Windows.
