Yealink UVC40 vs UVC40 E2: Is the Newer Model Actually Better?

On the camera spec sheet, no: the newer Yealink UVC40 E2 has a smaller 8 MP 1/1.8" sensor, a narrower 120° view and 5x zoom, where the original UVC40 has a 20 MP 1" sensor, a 133° view and 8x zoom. What the E2 changes is the package: it adds Smart Area Exposure for backlit rooms, includes a TV-mount bracket in the box and comes with a current 2026 datasheet, while keeping the same eight microphones, 5 W speaker and chassis. It drops AI Face Enhancement and the 3.5 mm line-in. At SourceIT the UVC40 E2 is S$645.00 (listed 25 Oct 2026); the original UVC40 is listed as the UVC40-BYOD kit, price on request. For most small rooms the E2 is enough; for a slightly wider room where you need the extra angle or zoom, the original's camera is the stronger one.

From Yealink's UVC40 datasheet (2021) and UVC40 E2 product page and July 2026 datasheet. Yealink does not publish a pickup distance for the original UVC40, or a launch date for the E2.

Camera: why is the newer model's sensor smaller?

Yealink does not explain the change, so we can only describe it. A 1" 20 MP sensor is large for a video bar, and it gave the original UVC40 more pixels to crop from, which fits its 8x digital zoom against the E2's 5x. Both output 4K video, so for a normal full-room shot the difference is less than the numbers suggest; it shows up when the camera crops in on a speaker at the far end of the table. The 133° view on the original is also wider than the E2's 120°, which helps in rooms where people sit very close to the screen.

The E2 is not a bigger camera. It is a more complete box, built for the rooms most people actually have.

What does the E2 add?

  • Smart Area Exposure. Aimed at rooms with a bright window or glass wall behind the table, a common layout in Singapore offices.
  • TV-mount bracket included. On the original it was an optional extra.
  • Flexible RJ45 port. Yealink lists the E2's RJ45 as a microphone port that can be switched to Ethernet, for network management through the Yealink Device Management Platform.
  • Published 6 m pickup. The E2 datasheet quotes it; the original's does not.

What does the E2 drop?

  • AI Face Enhancement, which the original UVC40 listed.
  • The 3.5 mm line-in. If your room feeds analogue audio into the bar, check this before you replace a UVC40 with an E2.
  • Camera headroom: the bigger sensor, wider view and longer zoom.

Which should you buy?

  • Most small and huddle rooms: the Yealink UVC40 E2 at S$645.00. Same audio, simpler mounting and exposure control for bright rooms.
  • Rooms where you need the wider 133° view or 8x crop, or a 3.5 mm line-in: the original UVC40, available as the UVC40-BYOD kit; ask us for a quote and availability.
  • Extending an existing UVC40 estate: either works with Yealink RoomConnect, so mixing generations is manageable.

Whichever you choose, the add-ons are the same family: VCM36-W wireless or VCM35 wired microphones and the Yealink BYOD Box. The full E2 assessment is in our Yealink UVC40 E2 review, and rivals in UVC40 E2 vs Logitech MeetUp 2.
