Yealink UVC40 E2 Review: Can One Video Bar Replace Your Entire Meeting Room Setup?

For a small or huddle room run from a PC or laptop, yes: the Yealink UVC40 E2 replaces the separate camera, microphones and speaker that a room would otherwise need, in one 1.37 kg USB bar. It combines a 4K camera with a 120° field of view and AI auto framing, an eight-microphone array that Yealink rates for 6 m pickup, and a 5 W speaker, for S$645.00 at SourceIT (listed 25 Oct 2026). What it does not replace is the meeting computer, the display or a certified Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms appliance. This review is based on Yealink's published specifications and our experience supplying meeting-room equipment; it is not a lab test.

What does "replace your entire meeting room setup" really mean?

A conventional small room is often built from parts: a USB camera on top of the screen, a conference speakerphone or table microphones, maybe a separate soundbar, and the cables and software to make them agree. The UVC40 E2 puts the camera, eight microphones and speaker into one bar with one USB 3.0 connection to the room PC or a guest laptop. That removes most of the boxes, most of the cabling and most of the "which device is selected?" problems at the start of a call.

It does not remove three things. The bar has no built-in compute, so you still need a PC, a mini PC or a laptop running Teams, Zoom or another app. It has no HDMI, so it does not drive or switch your display. And it is not sold as a certified Microsoft Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms device, so it is not a drop-in for rooms that must run a certified appliance. If that is your requirement, look at Yealink's Android-based MeetingBar A series instead.

The UVC40 E2 replaces the peripherals, not the computer. For most small rooms, that is exactly the part that causes the trouble.

How good is the camera?

The 8 MP Sony sensor delivers 4K at 30 fps across a 120° view, wide enough for a small room where people sit close to the screen. Auto Framing keeps the group in shot as people come and go, and Speaker Tracking moves the frame to whoever is talking. Yealink also lists Sound Localization among the AI features. Smart Area Exposure is aimed at a common Singapore problem: meeting rooms with a glass wall or a window behind the table, where faces otherwise go dark. The 5x e-PTZ zoom is digital, so expect to lose detail at full zoom. An electric lens cap closes the lens, which is a visible privacy cue for staff and visitors.

How does it sound?

Eight MEMS microphones with a 72 dB signal-to-noise ratio and noise and echo cancellation handle pickup, and Yealink rates the array at up to 6 m in its current datasheet. That covers a typical small room. For a longer table, Yealink offers the VCM36-W wireless microphone or the VCM35 wired microphone, both S$360.00 at SourceIT. The 5 W speaker (7 W peak) is sized for small rooms; in a medium boardroom you may want more. Yealink's older and newer datasheets quote different speaker sensitivity figures, so we have left that number out.

Setup and management

The bar comes with both a wall bracket and a TV-mount bracket, and Yealink sells a desktop stand separately. One USB cable to the room PC is the basic install. For rooms where guests bring their own laptops, Yealink's optional BYOD Box (S$195.00) gives a single-cable connection. IT teams can manage the bar with Yealink RoomConnect and, over the wired network, the Yealink Device Management Platform, which is useful if you already run Yealink phones or headsets.

What are the limitations?

  • No certification claimed. Yealink says the UVC40 E2 works with Teams and Zoom; it does not claim Teams or Zoom certification, and it does not name Google Meet.
  • No HDMI, no Bluetooth. Rivals such as the Logitech MeetUp 2 add HDMI and Bluetooth.
  • No published headcount. Yealink describes it only as a small and huddle room device.
  • Digital zoom only. 5x e-PTZ is fine for framing, not for close-ups of a whiteboard across a large room.

Verdict: can one video bar replace your meeting room setup?

For a small or huddle room driven by a PC or laptop, the UVC40 E2 is a strong, simple and well-priced answer, and at S$645.00 it costs about half the Logitech MeetUp 2's S$1,299.38. Choose a certified alternative if your organisation standardises on Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms, and a larger system for rooms beyond small and huddle size. Head-to-heads: UVC40 E2 vs Logitech MeetUp 2, UVC40 E2 vs Poly Studio USB and UVC40 E2 vs Jabra PanaCast 50.
