Poly Edge E500 Open SIP Desk Phone with a 5-Inch Display and 12 Line Keys
The Poly Edge E500 opens HP's top Edge E tier: a 5-inch colour IPS LCD at 800 x 480, 12 line keys supporting up to 48 line key assignments for lines, contacts and features, and support for two expansion modules. It is the highest key capacity in the range before accessories, which makes it the model for a Singapore operator console, a switchboard position or an executive assistant desk covering a whole management floor.
Two Expansion Modules for Up to 132 Additional Contacts
The Edge E500 Series is one of only two Edge E families that accepts expansion modules, and it takes two of them. Each Poly Edge E Expansion Module (2200-87020-025, sold separately) adds 22 line keys across three pages for up to 66 additional contacts, so a fully expanded E500 covers a large department without paging. A wall mount bracket for the expansion module is available separately.
Two USB Type-C Ports — Headset, Expansion Module and Future Video
Where the rest of the Edge E range has a single USB port, the E500 has two USB Type-C ports (2.0 compliant), specified for media, storage applications, headset, expansion module and future video camera connectivity. Combined with the dedicated RJ-9 headset port and Electronic Hook Switch capability, that leaves a port free even with a headset and a module attached.
A Wired Phone by Design — No Wi-Fi and No Bluetooth on the E500
Poly's Edge E500 Series datasheet restricts both Wi-Fi and integrated Bluetooth 5.0 to the Edge E550: the Edge E500 has neither. That is a deliberate tier split rather than an omission, and it keeps the E500 the cost-effective choice for a cabled operator position. If the user needs a Bluetooth headset or a wireless network connection, the E550 is the same phone with both radios added.

The Poly Edge E500 is an Open SIP desk phone. It registers against hosted and on-premise SIP platforms — 3CX, Asterisk and FreePBX derivatives, BroadWorks and Metaswitch-based hosted services, and the SIP trunking services offered by Singapore carriers.
HP publishes no Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet certification for any model in the Edge E range, and we do not claim one. Where a Microsoft Teams certified desk phone is the requirement, the Poly CCX Teams Edition models are the correct line — see the CCX 350 for Microsoft Teams.

HP states “Simple set up and support with Poly Lens” for the Edge E series. Frequently Asked Questions — Poly Edge E500
Does the Poly Edge E500 have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
No to both. Poly's Edge E500 Series datasheet lists Wi-Fi and integrated Bluetooth 5.0 as Edge E550 features specifically — the Edge E500 has neither. This is the most commonly misread specification in the Edge E range, because the E500 is otherwise the top-tier chassis. If either radio is required, specify the Edge E550.
What is the difference between the Edge E500 and the Edge E550?
The Edge E550 adds integrated Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi. Display, line keys, line capacity, expansion module support, Ethernet, PoE and audio are otherwise the same across the E500 Series. You are paying for the two radios.
How many contacts can the E500 show with expansion modules fitted?
12 line keys supporting up to 48 line key assignments on the phone itself, plus up to two Poly Edge E Expansion Modules (2200-87020-025) each carrying 22 line keys across three pages for up to 66 additional contacts. That is the largest key capacity available in the Edge E range.
Why does the E500 have two USB ports?
Poly specifies the two USB Type-C ports (2.0 compliant) for media, storage applications, headset, expansion module and future video camera connectivity. In practice it means a USB headset and an expansion module can both be attached without contention — the single-port models in the range make you choose.
Does the Edge E500 need a power supply?
Not where PoE is available. Poly specifies built-in auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet at 13 W maximum, and no power supply ships in the box. For positions without PoE, an optional Poly power supply (2200-49760-001 and regional variants) is ordered separately. Note that a fully expanded phone with two modules draws more than a bare one — confirm the switch port budget.
Is a wall mount included?
No. The box contains a setup sheet, console and handset with Microban antimicrobial protection, handset cord, CAT-5E network cable and desk stand. A wall mount bracket covering the E400, E450, E500 and E550 is ordered separately.
Is the Edge E500 certified for Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
