PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Poly Edge E400 Desktop Business IP Phone — 2200-87835-025 / 82M93AA - Local Warranty
Poly Edge E400 Dual-Display Open SIP Desk Phone with 14 Line Keys
The Poly Edge E400 is the first phone in HP's Edge E range built around two screens. A 3.5-inch colour IPS LCD carries the call, and a second 2.4-inch colour IPS LCD in portrait orientation carries busy lamp field keys and contacts — 14 line keys in total, arranged 8 + 6, supporting up to 44 line key assignments. For a Singapore reception desk, an operator position or a dealing-room seat that has to watch a floor's worth of extensions, the second display is the point of the model.
Expansion Module Support for Busy Reception and Operator Positions
Where 44 key assignments is not enough, HP documents support for one Poly Edge E Expansion Module (2200-87020-025) on the Edge E400 Series, adding 22 line keys across three pages for up to 66 further contacts. The module connects over the phone's USB Type-C port, which HP explicitly specifies as carrying media, storage, headset and expansion module connectivity. A wall mount bracket for the expansion module is available separately.
Class 4 PoE and a Bass-Enhanced Speaker
The E400 steps up to built-in auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet at Class 4 — a class higher than the E100 to E350 — at 13 W maximum, over the same two-port gigabit Ethernet switch with PC passthrough. HP also documents a bass frequency enhancing speaker design alongside Poly Acoustic Fence, Poly NoiseBlockAI and Poly HD Voice.
Wired by Design — No Bluetooth, No Wi-Fi on This Model
HP's wireless specification for the Edge E400 lists NFC and nothing else: no Bluetooth and no Wi-Fi. The headset paths documented are RJ-9, Electronic Hook Switch via the optional APP-51 adapter, and USB. If the user needs a Bluetooth headset or the position has no network drop, the Edge E450 is the same phone with Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi added — that is the only difference between the two models.

Compatibility & Software Support
Platforms and certifications
The Poly Edge E400 is an Open SIP desk phone. It registers against hosted and on-premise SIP platforms — 3CX, Asterisk and FreePBX derivatives, BroadWorks and Metaswitch-based hosted services, and the SIP trunking services offered by Singapore carriers.
HP publishes no Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet certification for any model in the Edge E range, and we do not claim one. Where a Microsoft Teams certified desk phone is the requirement, the Poly CCX Teams Edition models are the correct line — see the CCX 350 for Microsoft Teams.
Wireless and device connectivity
NFC only. HP publishes no Bluetooth and no Wi-Fi for the Edge E400.
Headsets
1 x RJ-9 headset port; 1 x Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) port for the optional APP-51 adapter; USB headset supported over the USB Type-C port
Provisioning and security
The Edge E series supports HTTPS provisioning with encrypted configuration files and signed software, 802.1X network authentication, SRTP media encryption and TLS signalling — the controls a Singapore IT team needs to put a phone estate on a corporate VLAN without exceptions.
Management software
HP states “Simple set up and support with Poly Lens” for the Edge E series. Poly Lens is HP's cloud device-management service: from one console your IT team can see device health, push firmware, apply configuration profiles and pull usage insight across every Poly device in the estate, phones and meeting rooms alike.

Frequently Asked Questions — Poly Edge E400
What is the difference between the Poly Edge E400 and the Edge E450?
Wireless, and nothing else that matters. Both have the same 3.5-inch main and 2.4-inch secondary colour displays, the same 14 line keys and 44 line key assignments, the same Class 4 PoE, the same single USB Type-C port, the same RJ-9 and EHS headset ports and the same single-expansion-module support. The Edge E450 adds integrated Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The E400 has NFC only.
Does the Edge E400 have Bluetooth?
No. HP's wireless specification for the Edge E400 lists NFC only — there is no Bluetooth and no Wi-Fi on this model. Headsets connect by RJ-9, by Electronic Hook Switch through the optional APP-51 adapter, or by USB. If Bluetooth headset pairing is a requirement, specify the Edge E450.
How many keys and contacts can the E400 show at once?
HP specifies 14 line keys arranged 8 + 6 across the two displays, supporting up to 44 line key assignments — up to 32 lines on the main display and up to 12 contacts on the secondary display. Adding the one supported Poly Edge E Expansion Module (2200-87020-025) brings a further 22 keys across three pages, for up to 66 additional contacts.
Which expansion module fits, and how does it connect?
The Poly Edge E Expansion Module, part number 2200-87020-025, sold separately. HP's Edge E Series user guide states that one module connects to an Edge E400 Series phone (and up to two to an Edge E500 Series phone). It attaches over the phone's USB Type-C port. A wall mount bracket for the expansion module is available if the position is wall-mounted rather than desk-mounted.
What PoE class does the Edge E400 need?
HP specifies built-in auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet at Class 4, 13 W maximum — a class higher than the E100 to E350 models. Check that the access switch port budget accommodates Class 4 before a large rollout, particularly on older edge switches. Note that some third-party datasheets state Class 3 for this model; HP's own specification says Class 4.
Is a wall mount or power supply included?
No. HP's box list covers the setup sheet, console, handset and handset cord (all with Microban antimicrobial protection), CAT-5E network cable and desk stand. A wall mount bracket covering the E400, E450, E500 and E550 is ordered separately, as is an optional power supply for positions without PoE.
Is the Edge E400 certified for Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
HP publishes no Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Meet certification for any Edge E model, and we do not claim one. The range is Open SIP, for hosted and on-premise SIP platforms. TAA is listed among HP's published certifications for this model, which matters for procurement programmes that require it.
Does the Poly Edge E400 come with a Singapore warranty and GST invoice?
Yes. Every Poly Edge E400 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
