The CO-FH01 puts out 3,000 lumens of white light output and 3,000 lumens of colour light output, and that equal pairing is the point of Epson's 3LCD design. Because all three colour channels are projected on every frame rather than cycled through a wheel, colours hold their saturation at full brightness instead of washing out. In a Singapore living room with the blinds half open, a small meeting room with downlights, or a classroom with windows on one side, that is the difference between a picture you can actually watch and one everybody squints at. Normal mode gives the full 3,000 lumens; Eco drops to 2,000 lumens and runs quieter.

Native resolution is Full HD 1080p, rendered by three 0.62-inch C2 Fine LCD panels at 2,073,600 pixels each. The projected image runs from 34 inches to 391 inches, which in practice means a 60-inch picture from 1.58 metres and a wall-filling image from the back of a function room. Throw ratio is 1.19 to 1.61, so it seats comfortably on a coffee table, a shelf or a standard ceiling mount without needing a specialist short-throw calculation. There is no optical zoom - framing is done by moving the unit and using the 1.0 to 1.35 digital zoom.

The CO-FH01 starts up in about six seconds and warms to full brightness in around thirty, and it supports Instant Off - no cool-down wait before you unplug it and move on. Vertical and horizontal keystone correction of plus or minus 30 degrees plus Quick Corner squares the image up when the projector is off-axis, which is what actually happens when you put it on a side table rather than dead centre. At approximately 2.4 kg and 295 mm wide, one person carries it between a meeting room, a training room and a colleague's desk without a trolley.

Placing and mounting
The CO-FH01 measures 211 x 295 x 82 mm excluding feet and weighs approximately 2.4 kg, so it sits happily on a table, a credenza or a shelf, and it is light enough for a standard ceiling bracket. Throw ratio is 1.19 to 1.61: a 60-inch image needs about 1.58 metres of throw, and the full range runs from 34 inches to 391 inches. There is no optical zoom, so set the image size by moving the projector and fine-tune with the 1.0 to 1.35 digital zoom. Focus is manual.
Squaring the image up
Vertical and horizontal keystone correction of plus or minus 30 degrees, together with Quick Corner, lets you straighten the picture when the projector is not centred on the screen — the normal situation when it lives on a side table or a rear shelf. Projection can be front, rear or ceiling mounted.
What you connect to it
There is one HDMI input, which covers a laptop, a media streaming box, a games console, a document camera or a video bar output. The USB Type A port supplies the optional Epson wireless LAN module and also handles firmware updates and copying OSD settings; USB Type B is for firmware updates and OSD setting transfer. If you are commissioning several rooms, copying the OSD settings from one configured unit to the rest saves a lot of repeated menu work.

Is the CO-FH01 bright enough for a room I cannot black out?
Yes, within reason. It produces 3,000 lumens of white light output and 3,000 lumens of colour light output in Normal mode.
