The APC Easy UPS On-Line SRV20KRILRK is a true double-conversion on-line UPS rated at 20000 VA / 20000 W. Incoming mains is rectified to DC and rebuilt by the inverter as a clean 230 V sine wave with 2% maximum distortion, so the load never sees the raw utility waveform and there is no transfer to wait for when the supply fails. Rated efficiency is 95% at full load, with an energy-saving ECO mode available.
In Singapore the practical risk is far more often a sag, a brownout or a switching transient during a thunderstorm than a full blackout. The SRV20KRILRK accepts 176β300 V AC at full load and 110β300 V AC at half load, so those events are absorbed on the mains side and the batteries are held in reserve for a real outage. Output frequency is synchronised to the mains at 50/60 Hz Β±3 Hz.
Unity Power Factor β Every kVA Is a Real Kilowatt
This model is rated at unity power factor: 20 kVA gives a full 20 kW with no derating, which is worth checking against competing units that quote 0.8 or 0.9 power factor at the same kVA. Size on watts: add up the continuous draw of everything to be protected, allow for start-up surge and growth, and compare it with 20000 W β or send us the load list and we will do the sum with you.
Hardwired Input and Output, with a Single-Phase or Three-Phase Feed
This is a hardwired unit. Schneider's product name reads βHard wire 3-wire (1P+N+E) outletβ: the output is a terminal block, there are no IEC C13 or C19 sockets, and the protected equipment connects through a downstream rack PDU or distribution board. On the input side Schneider fits two terminal connections β a 3-wire (1P+N+E) single-phase input at 230 V and a 5-wire (3P+N+E) three-phase input at 415 V β so the UPS can be fed from a single-phase 230 V circuit or from a 400/415 V three-phase supply while still delivering a single-phase 230 V output.
A 20 kW load draws in the order of 87 A at 230 V single-phase, which is why the three-phase input option matters: it spreads the draw across three phases and makes the supply circuit far easier to provision. Either way a licensed electrical worker must terminate both ends, and the circuit, breaker and cabling have to be sized before delivery day.
9U Kit: 3U Power Module, Two 3U Battery Packs and the Rail Kit
The SRV20KRILRK is Schneider's complete kit part number: the power module, two external SRV120RLBP2-9A battery packs, the battery cable, rack brackets, stabilisation feet, jumper bars, the USB and RS-232 cables and the user manual, and the product name ends βW/ Rail Kitβ. The delivered system occupies 9U β a 3U power module plus two 3U battery packs β and weighs 157 kg, of which 64 kg is each battery pack.
The power module carries no internal batteries; all stored energy lives in the external packs, which is what lets the runtime scale. Schneider states the UPS accepts up to 10 SRV120RLBP2-9A packs, and the 2340 W charger recharges the supplied packs in six hours. Check the cabinet before ordering: the kit is 690 mm deep, so a standard 600 mm comms cabinet will not take it. Plan on an 800β1000 mm deep server rack with rear clearance for the hardwired conduit, and mount the packs low.
Bypass, Emergency Power Off and Network Management
An internal bypass operates automatically on overload or fault and can be commanded manually from the LCD console, so a service visit does not have to drop the load. A rear-panel Emergency Power Off connector takes a room EPO loop, the Intelligent Card Slot accepts an AP9544 Network Management Card 3 for SNMP monitoring and network shutdown, and USB and RS-232 ports are fitted as standard.

Compatibility & Runtime
What Connects to This UPS
There are no IEC sockets on this model. The hard-wire 3-wire (1P+N+E) output feeds a rack PDU, a sub-distribution board or a dedicated final circuit, and your equipment plugs into that. A 20 kW load draws roughly 87 A at 230 V, so installations of this size normally split the output across several rack PDUs (such as the 16 A AP9559) or a distribution board with individual breakers.
Single-Phase or Three-Phase Input
Schneider fits both a 3-wire single-phase (230 V) and a 5-wire three-phase (415 V) input connection; the output is single-phase 230 V in either case. Confirm which feed you intend to use when you order so the electrician can prepare the right circuit.
Battery Packs and Scaling Runtime
The power module holds no batteries. Two SRV120RLBP2-9A packs (Β±120 V DC, 3U, 64 kg each) are supplied and Schneider states the UPS accepts up to 10 packs, so runtime can be extended later without replacing the UPS; each additional pack adds 3U and 64 kg. Do not cross-order packs between ranges: the 240 V SRV240RLBP-9A packs of the 6 and 10 kVA extended-runtime models and the 192 V modules in the SRV6KRIRK / SRV10KRIRK are different bus voltages and do not fit this UPS.
Schneider publishes no runtime table for this kit that we can reproduce, so we do not print one. Tell us the load in watts and the hold-up time you need and we will calculate the pack count with the distributor.
Rack Fit, Depth and Weight
Budget 9U plus 3U for each additional pack. The kit is 690 mm deep and each pack 686 mm, so specify an 800β1000 mm deep server rack with rear clearance for conduit. At 157 kg, check the cabinet's static load rating and fit the packs at the bottom. The rail kit pictured on Schneider's product page is the 900 mm SRVRK2, rated for 100 kg per chassis; the lighter SRVRK1 is rated for 60 kg and is not the right choice for a 64 kg pack.
Management and Software
The Intelligent Card Slot accepts an AP9544 Network Management Card 3 for SNMP monitoring, alerting and network shutdown. Schneider does not document a bundled shutdown software package for this model, so plan monitoring and shutdown around the management card. The APV9601 card in our catalogue is for the 1β3 kVA models and should not be ordered for this unit.

What is the difference between the VA and the watt rating, and how do I size this UPS?
VA is apparent power and watts is real power; the watt rating limits what you can connect. This model is rated at unity power factor, so 20000 VA gives a full 20000 W. Add up the continuous watts of everything you intend to protect, leave headroom for start-up surge and growth, and check the total against 20000 W β or send us the list.
Does this model have IEC outlets I can plug servers into?
No. The output is a hard-wire 3-wire (1P+N+E) terminal block; there are no C13 or C19 sockets and the input is hardwired too. How do I monitor it over the network?
The Intelligent Card Slot takes an AP9544 Network Management Card 3 for SNMP monitoring, alerting and network shutdown. USB and RS-232 ports are fitted as standard. Schneider does not document a bundled shutdown software package for this model, so please do not assume PowerChute over USB β ask us and we will confirm what is supported for your build.
